10 SYS 600C MRS Document conventions The following conventions are used for the presentation of material: The words in names of screen elements (for example, the title in the title bar of a dialog, the label for a field of a dialog box) are initially capitalized. Capital letters are used for file names. Capital letters are used for the name of a keyboard key if it is labeled on the keyboard. For example, press the CTRL key. Although the Enter and Shift keys are not labeled they are written in capital letters, for example, press ENTER. Lowercase letters are used for the name of a keyboard key that is not labeled on the keyboard. For example, the space bar, comma key and so on. Press CTRL+C indicates that you must hold down the CTRL key while pressing the C key (to copy a selected object in this case). Press ALT E C indicates that you press and release each key in sequence (to copy a selected object in this case). The names of push and toggle buttons are boldfaced. For example, click OK. The names of menus and menu items are boldfaced. For example, the File menu. The following convention is used for menu operations: Menu Name > Menu Item > Cascaded Menu Item. For example: select File > Open > New Project. The Start menu name always refers to the Start menu on the Windows Task Bar. System prompts/messages and user responses/input are shown in the Courier font. For example, if you enter a value out of range, the following message is displayed: Entered value is not valid. You may be told to enter the string MIF349 in a field. The string is shown as follows in the procedure: MIF349 Variables are shown using lowercase letters: sequence name. 2.5 Related documents Name of the document SYS COM 500i User s Guide SYS Connecting LONWORKS Devices SYS DNP 3.0 Master Protocol SYS DNP 3.0 Slave Protocol SYS External OPC Data Access Client SYS IEC Master Protocol SYS IEC Slave Protocol SYS IEC Master Protocol SYS IEC Master Protocol SYS IEC Slave Protocol SYS IEC Master Protocol SYS IEC Master Protocol (OPC) Document ID 1MRS MRS MRS MRS MRS MRS MRS MRS MRS MRS MRS MRS

37 1MRS Issued: Version: C/ SYS 600C 2.93 default template file, that is, \sc\sys\active\sys_\sys_bascon$com, in accordance with the requirements of the SYS 600C in question. For information about system server configuration, see SYS 600 System Configuration Process communication All the process communication units connected to SYS 600C are introduced by the necessary system configuration methods and application engineering steps. This introduction can be made either manually, or automatically using the engineering tools included in SYS 600C Master protocols Depending on the type of process communication units in SYS 600C, different configuration steps are needed. When connecting process communication units to SYS 600C by using protocols, refer to the protocol-specific manual (see Section 2.5 Related documents). If no protocol-specific manual is available, the configuration is described in System Objects manual. Typically the master protocols are involved from SYS 600C point of view, when connecting process communication units to Communication gateway For information about enabling a communication gateway functionality in SYS 600C, see SYS 600 System Configuration. For more information about configuring the communication gateway functionality, see SYS 600 COM 500i User s Guide Slave protocols The SYS 600 software manuals are useful if the communication gateway functionality of SYS 600C is used. The manuals are listed in Section 2.5 Related documents. The slave protocols are typically involved from SYS 600C point of view, when connecting SYS 600C towards Network Control Center (NCC) Cyber Security SYS 600 and SYS 600C responds to the need of the utilities and operators and assure a high level of cyber security in order to address requirements of NERC-CIP, IEEE 1686, etc. 37

38 SYS 600C MRS In SYS 600C the security settings such as firewall, system services, local security policy and application whitelisting are factory configured. Manual configuration is needed on security areas such as operating system user accounts and groups, and firewall depending on system architecture. There might be situations, e.g. troubleshooting where it is necessary to disable firewall or application whitelisting temporarily. This can be done in Command Prompt with administrative privileges. To disable firewall in all profiles, execute following command: netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off To enable firewall, use 'on' instead of 'off'. To disable application whitelisting, execute following commands: sc stop AppIdSvc sc config AppIdSvc start= disabled To enable application whitelisting, execute with 'start= auto' and then 'sc start AppIdSvc'. For more information, see SYS 600 Security Guide Workplaces SYS 600C contains preconfigured local workplaces, which do not require further configuration within the default template file. When Remote Desktop Services workplaces are needed, SYS 600C should have the Windows Server 2008 operating system, and the Remote Desktop Services component should be enabled accordingly. For more information about enabling of Remote Desktop Services in Windows Server 2008 operating system and workplace configuration, see SYS 600 Installation and Administration Manual Peripheral equipment For information about connecting additional peripheral equipment to SYS 600C, see SYS 600 System Configuration OPC connectivity Using OPC communication between OPC client and server requires that Distributed COM (DCOM) settings are configured accordingly. 38

The hardware key is pre-installed inside the SYS 600C device. The SYS 600 license is delivered as a PAF file (Product Authorization File) on the disk and is also pre-installed. To view the license information delivered with SYS 600C, open Monitor Pro and select Tools > Engineering Tools > Tool Manager. Double-click License Tool on the Miscellaneous tab. The SYS 600C functionality is controlled by the license information Windows user accounts By default, SYS 600C contains two Windows admin user accounts: MicroSCADA and ScAdmin. The MicroSCADA account is used by the SYS 600 service and it is not intended for the users. In the default SYS 600C installation it is not possible to login with this account. The ScAdmin account is an administrator account that should be used by the system administrator. In addition to two admin user accounts, there are preconfigured non-admin user accounts (ScEngineer, ScOperator, and ScViewer) and respective groups. These user accounts are disabled by default and can be enabled by ScAdmin user. The password has to be changed on next logon. 41

42 SYS 600C MRS Do not give administrative rights (Administrators) to operators/viewers/engineers. Only system administrators should have administrative rights. The administrator is able to create more Windows accounts. The passwords of the default users are documented in the delivery documentation. It is highly recommended that these default passwords are changed before the system is taken into use. It should be noted that the changing of MicroSCADA account's password must be done via MicroSCADA Control Panel > Admin > Password, instead of the regular password changing process. It is recommended to use passwords that contain at least 15 characters. Change the default password of the ScAdmin user accordingly. Windows password policy has been configured to the default SYS 600C installation. It defines the minimum length of a password to be 12 characters MicroSCADA user accounts Password policy settings for MicroSCADA can be configured via User Management tool, which can be started from Monitor Pro by selecting Tools > Engineering Tools > User Management. Install and configure the dedicated drivers, when using other peripheral equipment with SYS 600C. 6.2 Connecting accessories Before interacting with SYS 600C, connect the monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the product. These devices are not included in the delivery. Use the appropriate VGA connector cable to connect the monitor to SYS 600C. Connect the mouse by using either the USB or PS/2 connector. 6.3 Powering on SYS 600C To power on SYS 600C, press the power button located next to the power input ports. 6.4 Before connecting to network Before connecting the product to the network, set the SYS 600C computer name and the TCP/IP address accordingly. By default the DHCP is enabled. Hosts file within C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc contains only the localhost definition. Change these settings accordingly to reflect the target network. There may be different network connectors in the rear panel of SYS 600C, depending on the selections made when ordering SYS 600C. 6.5 Connecting USB devices About connecting USB devices SYS 600C supports connecting of USB devices by default. Typical examples of devices connected via USB are the mouse and the keyboard. Each USB port delivers 500mA current to the device attached to it. It is strongly recommended to attach an external power supply to the USB-HDD before connecting it to the SYS 600C. You may see the warning message USB power surge on hub 43

44 SYS 600C MRS port when a USB-HDD is attached to the USB port without additional external power supply Disabling or enabling USB mass storage devices USB mass storage devices are disabled by default. For more details, refer the SYS 600 Security Guide. After disabling the USB mass storage devices, the other USB devices, for example, the mouse and the keyboard, are still operable. 6.6 Event data history archiving in SYS 600C SYS 600C contains a pre-configured application, which automatically removes event data history files older than six months from the product. This removal operation is done by Disk Management tool during SYS 600C operation. If you want to store event data history files for a longer period, see the SYS 600 Installation and Administration manual for more information about using Disk Management Tool. 44

45 1MRS Issued: Version: C/ SYS 600C Troubleshooting and support 7.1 Troubleshooting Problem: When power switch is toggled, SYS 600C will not start. Solution: 1. Ensure that the power connectors are properly attached and that correct input range for the device is used. You can find the correct input range for the device in the delivery documents and on a label near the power connectors. 2. Ensure that the Power Input Terminals are correctly wired. See Section 4.2 Setting up SYS 600C for proper wiring for the terminals. 3. Ensure that SYS 600C and all attached peripherials (display, active USB-hubs, etc.) are correctly grounded as described in Section 4.2 Setting up SYS 600C. Problem: When you disconnect the cable from the VGA connector of running SYS 600C, the display does not wake up, when you reconnect the cable. Solution: 1. Ensure that the cable is properly attached to the VGA connector. 2. Power on the display. 3. Press CTRL + ALT + F1 to activate the display card chipset manually. 4. If this does not help, reboot SYS 600C. 5. Before the Windows logo appears, press F8 and select boot in VGA mode. 6. Then remove the display drivers, reboot the system, and reinstall the display driver. Problem: During the serial line Process or upper level NCC communication within the SYS 600C, you can sometimes see that the Diagnostics Counters for these communication lines are increasing related to the occurred Timeouts, Parity or Framing errors. You can also detect that LEDs for these same lines within the SYS 600C front panel are not blinking symmetrically. Solution: For the Process communication remember always to use shielded communication cables to minimize the effect of electrical disturbances to the communication lines connected to SYS 600C. The maximum shield is provided, when the shield of communication cable has been wired to the DB9 connectors in both ends. The additional equipments, for example, gender changers or DB9 adaptors, should not be used together with serial cables. For more information about serial cable wiring requirements, see SYS 600 product documentation. 45

46 SYS 600C MRS Technical support If you cannot solve the technical problem, contact ABB Support Line. When contacting, inform the technical support about the SYS 600C product information. The required product information is located in the right edge of device front panel. Figure 7.1: Product information label 7.3 Conformance and interoperability For information about SYS 600C hardware conformance and interoperability, see SYS 600C Product Guide. 47 1MRS Issued: Version: C/ SYS 600C Terminology Term Solid State Drive Partition Description Solid State Drive (SSD) is a type of mass storage device. Internal SSDs connect to a computer like a hard drive, using standard IDE or SATA connections. SSDs do not store data magnetically and store data using flash memory, they are not susceptible to data loss due to strong magnetic fields in close proximity to the drive. SSDs have no moving parts, there is far less chance of a mechanical breakdown. SSD provides faster access time than a hard disk, because the SSD data can be randomly accessed in the same time whatever the storage location. The SSD access time does not depend on a read/write interface head synchronising with a data sector on a rotating disk. A divided part of data storage space. Files and folders are stored in different partitions indicated by the different drive letters. One purpose of partitioning is to separate the operating system files from the user files within the computer. 47
