Software support Software support is a critical and defining component of the TEWS I/O product offering. Our modular hardware designs are coupled with extensive software drivers and support for most major realtime and server operating systems such as VxWorks, Windows, Integrity, Linux, and QNX. Supported CPU architectures are Intel, PowerPC and 68k (for IndustryPack only). For IndustryPack carriers and modules, TEWS has developed a layered driver concept that includes both a carrier driver layer and an IP module driver layer. All TEWS IndustryPack carriers are supported directly by the carrier driver, and a generic driver is included for integration of third party products. A key element of our software is our support staff. All TEWS support engineers are professionally trained to ensure in-depth support for software drivers and integration.

4 + IndustryPack Modules IndustryPack, also known as IP Modules or IPack, exist in single size (1.8" x 3.9") and double size (3.6" x 3.9") versions. The modules reside on carriers and provide cost effective I/O solutions due to their small construction and form-factor features. TEWS TECHNOLOGIES offers an attractive and wide range of IP modules for industrial process control, medical equipment, traffic control, telecommunication, and COTS applications. We supply off-the-shelf software drivers and superior support for all major operating systems. In addition, we provide engineering kids with detailed manuals, schematics and data sheets for each IP module. To help facilitate system integration, we also offer transition modules, cable kits and cable adapters. 5 TIP Channel Absolute Encoder Interface (SSI) Application Information The TIP114 is an IndustryPack compatible module for motion control applications. The TIP114 offers ten independent SSI interfaces with programmable clock rates from 1µs to 15µs and programmable data bits from 1 bit to 32 bit. The position feedback is provided by an absolute encoder with a synchronous serial interface (SSI) and a corresponding 32 bit (maximum) shift register at the IP. The level of the encoder signals is RS422. The data inputs are galvanically isolated by high speed optocouplers. Each SSI channel can handle a data stream which is encoded in Binary- or in Gray-Code, without or with parity as well as with even or odd parity. 7 TIP115 5 Channel SSI Interface with Listen Only Mode Application Information The TIP115 is an IndustryPack compatible module for motion control applications. The TIP115 offers five independent channels. Each of these channels can be operated as a standard SSI interface controller or in a Listen only mode. The standard SSI interface controller outputs a clock burst to the absolute encoder and receives the returned positional data. The SSI interface controller operates with a programmable clock rate from 1µs to 15µs and programmable data word length from 1 bit to 32 bit. In Listen only mode the channel listens to an existing SSI interface to observe its data transfer. It takes both the SSI clock and data as inputs. In Listen only mode the channel also has a programmable data word length from 1 bit to 32 bit; the SSI clock rate of the observed SSI interface can be in the range of 1µs to 15µs. In both modes the data word can be encoded in Binary- or in Gray-Code and with odd, even or no parity. The data inputs are galvanically isolated by high speed optocouplers. 9 TIP116 4 Channel Quadrature / General Purpose Counter Application Information The TIP116 IndustryPack compatible module is primarily designed for motion control applications, but it is also applicable as general purpose counter. The TIP116 offers four channel quadrature / general purpose counter. Each channel consists of a 32 bit programmable counter, a 32 bit preload register, a 32 bit compare register and a 32 bit output latch. The 32 bit counter can be programmed for quadrature, up-/down or direction count. In quadrature count mode the counter is programmable for single, double and quadruple analysis of the encoder signals. Two special count modes are available, a cycling 'Divide-by-N' mode and a 'Single- Cycle' mode. Additionally four control modes are available via the control input. The control input can be programmed to load, latch or reset the counter or it can be used as a gate for the counter clock. The level of the three input signals per channel can be RS422 or TTL. The input signals pass a digital filter for noise suppression before they are fed into the counter. The TIP116 also provides a RS422 clock output. The clock frequency is programmable to 1, 2, 4 or 8 MHz. A 16 bit down-counter with preload register allows timing intervals of up to 65ms. It can be used as reference timer for closed loop applications. Software support (TIP116-SW-xx) is available for different operating systems. 11 TIP119 6 Channel 16 bit Quadrature Decoder Counter Application Information The TIP119 is an IndustryPack compatible module providing six channels of quadrature decoder inputs. Each channel has a dedicated 16 bit wide quadrature decoder counter. The input signals can be of RS422A and RS423A level and pass a digital filter for noise suppression before they are fed into the counter. An interrupt can be generated at counter over- or underflow or on assertion of the index input. An 8 bit interrupt vector is supported. 13 TIP150 1 or 2 Channel Synchro / Resolver-To-Digital-Converter Application Information The TIP150 is an IndustryPack compatible module providing one or two channels of a tracking synchro / resolver-to-digital converter. The resolution programming allows selection of 10, 12, 14 or 16 bit conversion. This combines the high tracking rate of a 10 bit converter with the precision of a 16 bit converter. Two converter accuracies are available: TIP150-x0R with 4 arcmin +1LSB and TIP150-x1R with 2 arcmin +1LSB. The customer specific signal conditioning adapter (TIP150-Ay-xx) per channel provides an easy interface to the different types of synchro and resolvers. For highest accuracy the on board reference oscillator of the signal conditioning adapter TIP150-A2-xx and TIP150-A4-xx automatically compensates the phase error generated by the synchro / resolver. 15 TIP255 2 Mbytes SRAM Memory with Battery Backup Application Information The TIP255 is an IndustryPack compatible module that offers an easy and reliable way to implement 2 Mbytes of SRAM memory with battery backup. The TIP255 is ideal for holding configuration parameter and data logging applications. Four 512 Kbit x eight low power SRAM devices are used to provide two banks of 1 Mbyte (16 bit wide) SRAM memory. The data acquisition and conversion time is up to 10µs without channel / gain change and up to 12.5µs with channel / gain change. The data acquisition and conversion time is up to 12µs without channel / gain change and up to 14.5µs with channel / gain change. The input multiplexer offers analog overvoltage protection of up to 70Vpp. A programmable gain amplifier allows gains of 1, 2, 5, 10 or 1, 2, 4, 8. 23 TIP551 4 Channels of Isolated 16 bit D/A Conversion Application Information The TIP551 is an IndustryPack compatible module and offers 4 channels of isolated 16 bit analog outputs. Settling time to 0.003% is 10µs typical. The programmable output voltage range is +/-10V or 0-10V selectable by jumper. The DAC clears to 0V in both unipolar and bipolar output. The isolated DAC and the output buffer are powered by an on board DC/DC converter. Each TIP551 is factory calibrated. 25 TIP Channel multiplexed isolated 12 bit ADC / 8 Channel isolated 12 bit DAC Application Information The TIP570 is an IndustryPack compatible module with an optically isolated 16 channel multiplexed 12 bit ADC and an optically isolated 8 channel 12 bit DAC. The ADC can be software configured to operate as 16 input channels in single-ended mode or 8 input channels in differential mode. The ADC input multiplexer is overvoltage protected up to 70Vpp. A programmable gain amplifier supports gains of 1, 2, 5, 10 (TIP570-10R) or gains of 1, 2, 4, 8 (TIP570-11R). The full-scale input voltage range is +/-10V. The data acquisition and conversion time is modedependent: up to 1µs typical without channel or gain change, up to 12.5µs typical with channel or gain change. The 8 channel DAC full-scale output voltage is +/-10V. The output amplifier is capable of sinking and sourcing 2mA for each DAC channel (1000pF load). The output voltage settles to 12 bits in 5µs typical. Each TIP570 is factory calibrated. The calibration data is stored in the EEPROM unique to each IP. It provides 16 optically isolated differential inputs for high unipolar input voltage which may exceed the supply voltage of the module. The inputs can withstand input voltage up to 44V maximum between the two differential input pins. Due to the differential inputs of the TIP606, it is even possible to use the module in noisy environments. The TIP606 provides a high differential input resistance of 112kohms typically. 37 TIP630 Reconfigurable FPGA with 48 TTL I/O Application Information The TIP630 is an IndustryPack compatible module providing a user configurable FPGA with 200,000 system gates. 48 I/O lines of the FPGA are directly connected to the IP I/O connector. Each I/O line has a series damping resistor and is protected against ESD and overvoltage. Six pull up resistor networks mounted in sockets are provided for the I/O lines. Pull up voltage is selectable to be either +3.3V or +5V. The I/O lines are individually programmable as input, output or tri-state I/O. All IP bus signals of the IP interface are routed to the FPGA allowing to implement 8 MHz or 32 MHz bus interfaces with or without DMA. Several clock sources are available at the FPGA: the IP clock (8 MHz or 32 MHz), a local 32 MHz clock and two outputs of the programmable clock generator (250 KHz 166 MHz). 57 TIP Channel of 14 bit A/D Conversion Application Information The TIP845 is an IndustryPack compatible module providing 48 single-ended or 24 differential ADC input channels. The data acquisition and conversion time is up to 2.5µs without channel / gain change and up to 10.5µs with channel / gain change. The resolution is 14 bit. The input multiplexer of the A/D circuit offers analog overvoltage protection of up to 70Vpp. A programmable gain amplifier allows gains of 1, 2, 4 or 8 resulting in input voltage ranges of +/-10V, +/-5V, +/-2.5V or +/-1.25V. Additionally the TIP845 provides a sequencer to control the analog inputs without wasting CPU time. Each of the A/D channels can be independently enabled and configured by a sequencer instruction RAM. After the last instruction of a programmed sequence has completed, the ADC data of all enabled channels are stored in the data RAM. The repeat frequency of the sequencer can be programmed by using the sequence timer. The sequence timer is programmable from 100µs to s in steps of 100µs. The sequencer starts a new sequence whenever the timer reaches the programmed value. A special function is the sequencer continuous mode. It is activated by setting the sequence timer register to 0. In this mode the sequencer will start again with the first instruction of the sequence as soon as the last instruction of the previous sequence has been completed. An interrupt can be generated at end-of-settling, end-ofconversion or end-of-sequencer cycle supporting an 8 bit vector. Each TIP845 is factory calibrated. The calibration information is stored in the Identification-PROM unique to each IP. The TIP865-10R offers four RS232 interfaces, the TIP865-11R provides four TTL interfaces, the TIP865-20R supports four RS422 interfaces, the TIP865-30R provides four RS485 multidrop interfaces and the TIP865-51R offers two RS422 and two RS485 interfaces. The full modem control is available for each of the 4 serial interfaces on the TIP865-10R and 11R supporting RxD, TxD, RTS, CTS, DCD and clock. The TIP865-20R provides RxD, TxD and clock. 115 TAMC200 AMC Carrier for 3 IndustryPacks Application Information The TAMC200 is a standard double Mid-Size/Full-Size AMC.1 (PCI-Express) compliant carrier for up to three single-size or one double-size and one single-size IndustryPack (IP) modules used to build modular, flexible and cost effective I/O solutions for all kinds of applications like process control, medical systems, telecommunication and traffic control. Three VHD68 SCSI-V (VHDCI/Champ) type connectors provide access to all IP I/O lines. The TAMC200 is a versatile solution to upgrade well known legacy I/O solutions to a high performance form factor. All IP interrupt request lines are mapped to PCIe INTA, alternatively Message Signaled Interrupts (MSI) can be used. For fast interrupt source detection the TAMC200 provides a special IP interrupt status register. The IP power lines are fuse protected by self-healing fuses and RF filtered. The operating temperature range is -40 C to +85 C. According to AMC.0, the TAMC200 provides an IPMI compliant Module Management Controller (MMC) with temperature monitoring and hot-swap support.
