A backplane provides power and signal interconnection between input and output cards. The mainframe is 17.5 inches high, inches deep and is designed to fit in a standard 19-inch RETMA rack. 3 256-Channel Distribution Amplifier System The 256-Channel Distribution Amplifier Subsystem consists of two 128-Channel Distribution Amplifier Systems, two input breakout panels with cabling to the System and four output breakout panels and cabling. The input and output breakout panels are mountable on the rear of the 19 inch equipment rack. Input breakout panels have one BNC connector for each input channel. Output breakout panels have either BNC, High Density, or both output connectors. Cabling is provided for connecting between the System and the breakout panels. 4 Distribution Amplifier Subsystem Cables The system includes three sets of high-density output cables broken out to BNC connectors. Cable lengths are a minimum of 20 feet. 5 Input Breakout Panel The Input Breakout Panel (PF pn B11174G1) consists of 128 BNC input connectors pre-wired to sixteen cables for connection to the input cards. Input breakout panels are mountable on the rear of the equipment rack. One BNC is provided for each input channel. Breakout panels are supplied with cables to connect between the System and the breakout panels. 128-Channel BNC Input Panel

6 Output Breakout Panel Two types of output breakout panels are available for the Systems, the High Density Output Breakout Panel and the BNC/High Density Output Breakout Panel. Output breakout panels mount to the rear of the equipment rack. 7 High Density Output Breakout Panel The High Density Output Breakout Panel (PF pn B11173G1) provide four 50-pin connectors from the System and two high density 80-pin connector to the analog-to-digital converter (ADC). BNC/High Density Output Breakout Panel. The Output Breakout Panel (PF pn B11176G1) provides 64 analog outputs to two T d 80-pin high-density multipin connectors. In addition, each of 64 output signals is available at an independent BNC connector on the Panel. The multipin and BNC outputs are T d which allows the technician to monitor any of 64 signals on the breakout panel s multipin output connectors, by connecting to the corresponding BNC connector. 8 ACCESSORIES Automated Acceptance Tester The PF Automated Acceptance Tester with software control provides Factory Acceptance Tests for the System.The Acceptance Tester consists of the following components: 1 ea. Agilent 33220A Synthesizer 2 ea. Agilent L4421A Multiplexers 1 ea. Agilent 34410A Digital Multimeter 1 Set of Test Cables (provided with the system) Test Software, Graphical User Interface (provided with the system) The Graphical User Interface running on a personal computer or workstation on a local network provides software control of the test instruments via an Ethernet interface. The test routine provides prompts to guide the technician to move test cables on the System input connectors and output connectors, then automatically inserts the appropriate test signal at the inputs and takes measurements at the outputs. The Acceptance Tester provides fault isolation to the individual replaceable card, and identifies tests that failed. Results of the Acceptance tests are stored as data files and can be saved, displayed, and printed. Factory Acceptance Test Protocol Tests that make up the Factory Acceptance Test protocol include: Frequency Response and Gain Test: 10 Vpk input (+17dBVrms) at 1 khz and 45 khz Gain = 0 db ±0.1 db Common Mode Rejection: 10 Vpk input (+17dBVrms) at 1 khz <0.707 mv (-80 db re +17 dbv) output BroadBandNoise: <700 V Broad Band (100 khz) Dynamic Range: (Max Input/Noise Floor) at 1 khz = 7V/700 V = 10,000 (i.e. 80 db) Cross Talk: One channel tested at a time with its input grounded.
