(876) , , , , , , Fax (876) monaictcentre@uwimona.edu.jm Skype MonaICTCentre For immediate release Mobile Money Takes Centrestage at UWI s Fourth National Cyber Security Conference October 25, 2016, Kingston- The Mona ICT Policy Centre (MICT) at the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC), UWI will be hosting the Fourth National Cyber Security Conference under the theme Mobile Money, Online Banking and Citizen Awareness. The Conference will be held at the UWI Regional Headquarters, Mona, in Kingston, on Monday and Tuesday November 28 th and 29 th International speakers to address the Conference will include Mr. Shiva Bissessar, a Cyber Security specialist of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Adekunle Ajiboye, Systems Innovator and Entrepreneur from Ontario, Canada who has led the National Cyber Security Risk Assessment project in Nigeria, Mr. Karsten Becker, Innovator, Entrepreneur and Specialist in Cyber Security for Financial Services, Mr. Shernon Osepa, Manager of Regional Affairs for Latin America and the Caribbean for the Internet Society (ISOC), and Mr. Cleveland Thomas, Caribbean Area Representative for the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). Local speakers will include Ambassador Richard Bernal, UWI Pro Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs, Professor Hopeton Dunn, Director, CARIMAC, UWI, Mrs. Georgia Gibson Henlin, Attorney at Law, Henlin Gibson Henlin and Dr. Maurice McNaughton, Director of Computer Assisted Innovation at the Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM), UWI. The conference will feature a wide range of panel presentations on the opportunities and risks associated with online financial services. Sessions will cover such topics as Ransomware, Malware, Hacking and other Cyber Security Threats, Cyber Security and Mobile Money, Regulating Online Financial Services, and Building Citizen Awareness. The lead Conference sponsor is the National Commercial Bank (NCB).

2 The Conference will be officially opened by Dr. the Hon. Andrew Wheatley, Minister of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET) with the subsequent panel session addressed by Mr. Julian Robinson, Opposition Spokesman on Information & Knowledge Economy. Representatives of the banking sector, regulatory organizations in the financial sector and local corporate or civil society are also expected to participate as Special Guests and Presenters. The Cyber Security Conference is an initiative of the Mona ICT Policy Centre, CARIMAC, UWI, in association with Internet Society (ISOC) and International Telecommunications Union (ITU). The Conference has been organized over the last three years, as part of a national response to the growing number of cyber threats, identity theft issues, hacking and other risks to online properties of businesses, government departments and individuals.
