3 Committee on the Marine Transportation System (CMTS) Resilience Integrated Action Team (RIAT): Overview Sep 2014: CMTS RIAT established by the CMTS Coordinating Board Objectives: Leverage federal activities to assess and improve MTS resilience to short and long-term stressors 12 Federal organizations (membership growing) Co-led by NOAA and USACE 3/17

4 RIAT: Mission and Objectives Activities include identification of short and long-term risks and vulnerabilities associated with climate change, extreme weather, global and domestic markets to include existing and future infrastructure, and the development and implementation of strategies to plan for and adapt to potential transportation disruptions to the MTS Resilience: The ability to prepare, resist, recover, and more successfully adapt to the impacts of adverse events.
