3 1 Overview of the Application Validation Process Ready for IBM Analytics is the IBM technical validation process to help partners enhance their technology value proposition with IBM products; achieve optimal interoperability; and help ensure client satisfaction. This Application Validation Guide contains essential information about accessing our technology. Once approved, you will be able to download and use the Ready for IBM Analytics mark on collateral and be included in the Business Partner Application Showcase. We have some basic tests that we prescribe in section 3.3 below, this validates basic functionality. Application providers should execute additional tests that they currently use for unit/regression testing. We believe that you, the application providers, are the best judge of whether your application is functioning correctly. However, should you need technical assistance from our subject matter experts, we are here to work with you. 2 Platform Specific Considerations IBM IGC 2.1 Introduction IBM Information Governance Catalog (IGC) is a web based interface that provides capabilities to help integrate, understand and govern information. IGC provides a collaborative authoring environment that helps members of an enterprise create a central catalog of enterprise-specific terminology, including relationships to assets. Such a catalog is designed to help users understand business language and the business meaning of information assets such as databases, jobs, database tables and columns, and business intelligence reports. From within InfoSphere Information Governance Catalog, designated users can define terms, categories, information governance policies, and information governance rules. Users can gain insight into common business terminology, descriptions of data, ownership of terms and metadata, and how terms relate to information assets. In addition, users can run a lineage report of an asset to indicate where information came from and how that information changed as it moved through data integration processes. 6/10/17 3

4 Technical and Business metadata can be imported into IGC using one of the following options:- - Out-of-box(OOB) connectors (Ex: Connectors to RDBMs such as DB2, Oracle, Teradata...) - OOB adaptors (Ex: Adapters to Erwin modes, Cognos BI reports etc..) - Open IGC, a REST-based interface to import any technical metadata that does not have a OOB connector or adapter. 2.2 Architecture IBM IGC is available in the following configurations: - As a components of the IBM Information Server suite of products. As a standalone product for the enterprise. As Docker-based container with IGC Download and Go IGC as a component of the InfoSphere Information Server suite of products IBM InfoSphere Information Server is a data integration software platform that helps organizations derive more value from the complex, heterogeneous information spread across their systems. InfoSphere Information Server provides a single unified platform that enables 6/10/17 4

5 companies to understand, cleanse, transform, and deliver trustworthy and context-rich information. IGC is one of the components in the InfoSphere Information Server suite of products, each component plays a different role in the overall Data Integration and Governance mission but they all share a centralized metadata repository so they can share metadata across the different functions IGC as a standalone configuration for governance While IGC is part of the InfoSphere Information suite of products, it can also be installed in a standalone fashion. The IGC architecture itself does not change if it is installed standalone or part of the Information Server suite and the core components of the architecture include: - - Client tier - Services tier - Engine tier - Metadata repository tier 6/10/17 5

6 Note: All of the above mentioned tiers can be installed on the same physical server but for performance and scalability reasons you would want to separate the tiers across multiple virtual/physical environments. For more detailed information on architecture and install instructions etc, please refer to IBM Information Server Information Center 2.3 Scope This guide is provided for partners who want to validate their application for the IBM IGC product, which is deployed as both an on premises server and in private cloud configurations. 7 3.3 Recommended tests Test Steps Expected Outcome If your software has an out-of-box connector/adapter for IGC, validate import of Technical Metadata If there is no outof-box bridge/connector for your software, please contact the Check to see if there is an outof-box connector/adapter/bridge for IGC in the link below List of Connectors/Bridges/Adapters for IGC Login to Download & Go IGC using credentials (User=isadmin, Password=isadmin). Click on Administration Home Click on InfoSphere Metadata Asset Manager (IMAM) link in the Related Administration Tasks section. Click on Import tab in the IBM InfoSphere Metadata Asset Manager interface. Click New Import Area.. button and create an import area for your software by providing :- o Import area name o Import area description o Selecting the appropriate bridge or connector o Populating the connection information for the bridge/connector. Follow instructions that come with the utility to import your technical assets. You should be able to see your technical assets and import them to IGC by following the IMAM wizard. Your technical assets will now be searchable and available in IGC. 6/10/17 7

Edit technical assets in IGC The IGC home page defaults to a search interface. Select the type of asset you want to search (Ex: Database Table, My custom application). Type in the asset name Press Search Select the asset you want to edit to open the details of the selected asset. Click on the next to the Information icon and select Edit to edit the asset. Make required changes and press Save to save changes. You should see a list of technical assets that match your search criteria. Clicking on individual items in the search results will open the details screen for the selected asset. Search for the asset and opening the details page should now show the edits. 4 Submit your solution to achieve the Ready for IBM Analytics badge In order to approve your solution validation with IBM's products, we need some information from you.
