1 COOPERATIVE MEMBERSHIP SYSTEM SHAHREZA SA ARANI HAZILAH MOHD AMIN Faculty of Information Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia ABSTRACT This report elaborates my experience during 20 weeks internship at BIT GROUP Sdn Bhd. BIT GROUP or Business Information Technology is a company that specializes in ICT solutions and services. BIT GROUP is located at Cyberjaya which is known as Malaysia Super Corridor (MSC). The company was established in This report explains the project and task that were done during my internship. Training took place at BIT Software where a project called Membership System was in development phase at the time I join. Several tasks were given to add the functionality of the system and result were obtained just as expected. In this 20 weeks internship, a lot of life lesson was learned. This useful knowledge is priceless and the hand-on experience with the company staff was great. Hopefully all the details and explanation given in this report would reflect clearly what I have been through during this internship. All experience and knowledge will be useful when entering a career that lies ahead. Keywords Internship, Membership System, Cooperative 1. INTRODUCTION BIT Group is a ICT solution and services. Their product are Saadiqin (Banking Software), Healthcare (Medical software) and many other. BIT Software is a department responsible to develop and maintains system. This department develop system using java, ASP.net, Xamarin and several others. Membership system is a new project under the BIT software. Membership System is a system that focus on Koperasi, an organization in which people is united at their own will to achieve a certain accomplishment. This system allows the organization to register its member by the web. There is also a function to subscribe and withdrawal of share owned by each member. This system will be use by the Koperasi staff to register and keep track of their member. Several tasks were given among them was to create a new interface for searching module. The task involves the front-end development and back-end. Searching for a bug in the system also included. Replacing the word used in the system so it complements the organization requirement also was given. 2. PROJECT DETAILS Among the requirements of Membership System development were Java Spring MVC framework, Maven, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and NetBeans. Java Spring MVC framework consist of 3 elements which is model, view and controller. Model is an element that contains the application data or the object data. View is responsible to output the model data and generate html output for client browser. While, controller is where the logic, calculation and process request occurs. Maven is a project management and comprehension tools. It helps building the project based on project object model (POM). In POM, the project dependency such as version of spring framework, logger and others are specifying and this tool

2 help building the project with the dependency. Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (MSSMS) is the application that is use to create and join databases. It also used to create stored procedure, an SQL command which is in the back end or database rather that in the coding or front end. NetBeans is the integrated development environment use to develop this system. NetBeans is encouraging to use because of the simplistic design and user interface. It also has a built in server for deployment of the project to test the flow. The task given is to create a search function with filter to search the member based on the type of data the user chooses. The function should have an interface of the search area and a table which the result is shown. The function should use the data from the databases and shown only the data that is search at the table. The other task given is to create an auto generated member ID based on the auto increment number which is given during registration and the branch code combined. User has the option to choose either auto generated or manually input member ID in interface. 3. PROPOSED SOLUTION The proposed solution was based on the experience and way that was approached to complete the task. Failure and error was fixed along the way. a. Search Function The user interface is created for data input with a combo box as type of data wanted such as ID, status or name and a text box for input data that is required for searching. Bootstrap interface is used. For a responsive page, JQuery and JavaScript is used on the front end so that the process doesn t refresh or forward the page to another to show result. After submitting the data needed, the data is send to the controller which handle the request of an SQL commands. The SQL command will connect with databases stored procedure to the extent which the data searched is return. The data that is return is saved in the form of array list before it is rendered in the table as result of the search. b. Auto-Generated Member ID This task is to create an auto generated member ID. First step that is taken is to create a combo box for the option to user to pick either auto-generated or manual input of member ID. If the user chooses manual input, a text box will appear under the combo box. The function use JQuery to create a text box. Next, the auto-increment number is created at a table in the database to be use in the auto-generated member id. A controller will check if the user choose auto or manual. Manual option will have saved the number input in the text box as member ID. Meanwhile, if the user chooses auto- generated, the controller will have called an SQL function which collect the branch code and auto increment number and combine both to create a new member ID. This number then save as a new member ID. 4. LESSON LEARNED AND CONCLUSION As for future improvement, I suggest that student should be exposed more to the work scope of a programmer so when applying for the internship, student will be group to each respective job that is suitable and wanted by the student. There is much lesson learned in this internship

3 programs. First, creating a system required details work as to refined the user experience and avoid error which is critical point in a system. Next, multiple test should be performing in different ways so that all the angle that can cause error is covered. Then, intern should ask senior programmer if not sure ways thing work to have a right workaround to the program without altering the specified function that is created. New experience and skill were acquired such as how the work life is and the meeting with the client, give a little hindsight as how to handle a user requirement and implement it in the system. This internship gives beneficial result to the company and some new knowledge to students. A number of constraint were faced during internship such as hardware not suitable for working but a workaround is available. Another one is when there new thing to be explored, such as the system is already halfway build, do not messing with the flow, it takes a longer time to understand and find a way to implements new module. As a conclusion, both task given the result that is expected. Both error and bug is refined so that the user will have a buttery smooth experience with the interface. The search function show result that is search and the auto-generated or manual input both create a new member ID as expected. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I would like to give my gratitude toward BIT GROUP Sdn Bhd for giving me the opportunities to do an internship at their company. A big thanks to my supervisor, Mr. Ikram Shubri for teaching and guiding me along this internship.
