This image offers an example of just how flexible the environment can be. It starts with a typical ClearPath MCP or OS 2200 environment applications, databases, operating environment, processors, memory, and I/O all separated into unique containers by Unisys Secure Partitioning (s-par ) technology. In addition to accommodating traditional ClearPath Forward environments, you have the freedom to deploy a nearly limitless variety of and Linux applications and workloads in dedicated partitions securely isolated once again by s-par. Because each partition resides within the infrastructure, you can use a rich set of industry-standard middleware to integrate ClearPath Forward,, and Linux workloads in whichever combination best addresses your current and emerging business needs. Or, you can integrate some while allowing others to function on their own. It s entirely up to you. The SOA infrastructure is provided by Microsoft BizTalk. Web Services technology connects to the applications in the ClearPath Forward environment, with eportal supplying access to the MCP and OS 2200 applications. These applications use the infrastructure s high-speed interconnect to access the various Linux and based applications. In this setup, each environment can function on its own, while also sharing specific aspects between one another as part of a broader business process. Users access the services offered by BizTalk, which then invokes either or both of the ClearPath Forward environments. Although BizTalk provides the SOA infrastructure, Web Services allows other SOA technologies to be substituted for BizTalk without any changes to either ClearPath Forward environment. 4

A based contact management system records all reports from the public and other sources. A ClearPath Forward incident management application tracks the reports and dispatches resources in the event an emergency response is required. It also uses Unisys Integration Services (AIS) product to extract data and make rapid reports in a based ad-hoc query system. Moreover, a based geospatial services application provides mapping and positioning data for resource and incident locations, while a variety of other services are provided by Linux applications. Additionally, the implementation uses middleware to share information with external emergency service departments as required. Since all of these services are combined in a single environment, users get a centralized, secure experience that is designed to help improve response time during emergencies. 5

AB Suite Developer can be installed in a partition, with its model database kept in an instance of Microsoft SQL Server residing in either the same partition, or another within the system. Moreover, AB Suite Developer interacts with a partition hosting Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) for source control and release management. Meanwhile, the core solution and Enterprise Server for ClearPath MCP (DMSII) production database reside in the ClearPath MCP partition. To provide the application s user interface, yet another partition acts as the web server, using AB Suite Component Enabler software and the generated components from AB Suite Developer. AB Suite Tools Business Integrator software allows applications to call out to external routines or participate in SOA environments. The applications in this example can also take advantage of the capabilities provided by the ClearPath eportal for MCP specialty partition, or use an IBM MQ interface to interact with other applications. 6

It can propagate a selected set of data from one data store to another, and while doing so, apply transformations that help to support business process integration, reporting, big data analytics, and business intelligence activities. This example shows how the solution enables data transfers from ClearPath MCP DMSII and ClearPath OS 2200 RDMS databases to Microsoft SQL Server directly within the ClearPath Forward environment or to databases outside the infrastructure. In MCP systems, data can also be propagated from Microsoft SQL Server back to the DMSII database. 8

The loaded data can then be processed through a wide variety of business applications such as those for reporting, analytics, and archiving. While these applications are not part of the standard Databridge solution set, they can be hosted on individual partitions within the ClearPath Forward infrastructure, making it easier to move data through the environment and leverage the insights it delivers while simplifying system management and administration. 9

In this example, AIS enables applications to call ALGOL, NEWP, and COBOL85 libraries, as well as COMS transactions, within the MCP environment. This diagram also shows how developers who use can use AIS to build applications that create, access, and update MCP files. Plus, the product gives you the freedom to choose any commercial off-the-shelf 64-bit Java virtual machine for the operating system and use it to build and deploy Java applications that access the MCP files and system services seen here. 10

By uniting both the Microsoft framework and Visual Studio, AIS helps you build a unified environment that dramatically simplifies the process of developing cross-platform applications. APIs included in the product allow applications to use ClearPath business logic to process transactions in the ClearPath OS 2200 environments. This example also shows how applications are able to execute TIP transactions and control statements in a batch run in the OS 2200 environment. In addition, applications have the ability to create, access, and update OS 2200 files. 11

The OS 2200 resource adapters provide access to and from application components executing under Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS), IBM WebSphere Server (WAS), and JBoss Enterprise Platform (JBoss EAP) to ClearPath TIP, Open/DTP, BIS, and batch programs. While integrating Java and OS 2200 applications inside the ClearPath Forward environment provides simplification and security, you re also able to integrate Java applications running inside and outside the environment with OS 2200 resources. 12

This example shows the ClearPath Forward infrastructure working with Open/DTP, OSI-TP, and OpenTI to execute two-phase commits, where one transaction updates several databases in different environments in an orderly manner both inside the ClearPath environment and across external systems. The OpenTI component provides native COM+ access to transaction monitors and their applications and allows them to be integrated with other transaction monitors in the same global transaction. Meanwhile, OSI-TP enables high-performance distributed transactions by facilitating communication between or Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) client programs and Open/DTP services residing on ClearPath nodes. 13

The applications use the ClearPath OS 2200 QProcessor specialty partition along with IBM WebSphere MQ for ClearPath OS 2200 to facilitate the exchange of information between applications, systems, services, and files. Sending and receiving message data via messaging queues makes it easier to create and maintain business applications. In addition, this example uses active and passive QProcessor partitions in the environment to create a high-availability configuration. Doing so provides the added peace of mind that message queuing can continue should the active partition fail for any reason. 14

Sending and receiving message data via messaging queues makes it easier to create and maintain business applications, as well as simplify and accelerate the integration of diverse applications and business data across multiple platforms. 15

All of these partitions interact with one dedicated to Red Hat JBoss Data Virtualization, a data integration solution that sits in front of multiple data sources and allows them to be treated as a single unit. And since all of the data sources in this example reside within the ClearPath Forward infrastructure, it s easy to use the solution for data abstraction, federation, integration, transformation, and delivery. Plus, you can combine data from one or multiple sources into reusable and unified logical models that are accessible through standard SQL (JDBC, ODBC, Hibernate) and/or Web Services (REST, OData, SOAP) interfaces. In addition, you could even bring in data sources from outside the environment. 16

There is a direct connection into the ClearPath Forward application, and the ClearPath eportal specialty partition provides an interface for smartphones, tablets, or other devices to access these applications. As is common in many organizations, the existing ClearPath Forward applications interwork with other internal and external applications through middleware, such as Web Services, which also hides the other systems operating environments. Not only is eportal providing an interface for mobile and web users, it also creates one for Web Services that allows internal and external functionality to be integrated in a truly seamless manner. 17
