5 From Strong Beginnings Founding of Signavio HPI Our Background. As part of a research project at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam in 2006, we developed our first prototype, known globally as Oryx. Excited about the technological possibilities, we were driven to develop a professional Business Process Management (BPM) tool and establish a company. 2 Energetic business success Signavio GmbH was created in Berlin in 2009, by the founders Dr. Gero Decker, Willi Tscheschner, Nicolas Peters, Torben Schreiter and Prof. Mathias Weske. It was a time of intense pressure but spurred on by their passion for the field and the product, the founders worked on furthering the development of the Signavio Process Editor and quickly expanded the team with the first employees. 2 3 Development Through Trust From Project to Viral Effect 1 Off to a Good Start A Secure Basis for a Successful Company The Founder Team in 2009 The connection with the Hasso-Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam laid the foundations for Signavio. The HPI is renowned for innovative technological ideas thatv often provide the starting blocks for business ventures, just like Signavio. It has to be possible to model business processes in a web-based way, was the idea of the founders. What started as a university project quickly developed into a marketable software solution, which was brought to market in 2009 when the company was founded. The internationally renowned HPI, backed by an innovative idea and paired with motivation and passion for the product, were what made our successful beginnings possible. 3 The AOK, one of the biggest state healthcare insurance providers in Germany, were our first customers. Together we developed an open exchange and close collaboration, which not only ensured the Signavio Process Manager could be designed with a practical orientation but also with Amazing Results 5 Together with 1&1 we are proud to have been awarded the Process Solution Award. This award is presented annually to the most innovative BPM projects and highlights trendsetters and forwardthinkers in the process management field. The project with 1&1 demonstrates impressive joint process optimization across departmental borders. 4 1&1 s BPM project starting out a BPM initiative to improve their business processes was just the beginning. 1&1 quickly got on board with Signavio to further develop and optimize their processes as part of a continuous process improvement strategy. For this reason you will often see Signavio colleagues at events, such as the TechCrunch Disrupt or at bpmnext, gathering ideas for new product functions. Once a year the whole Signavio team goes to Code Camp and works together on new projects and innovations. In 5 days, new functions and services are developed, which make working with Signavio even better for our customers. Our customer s wishes are obviously also a significant source of new ideas. Thanks to our idea portal, our customers have the possibility to influence the development of new product functions. What strategies are there to counter changes in the market? Voice recognition modeling with Process on Voice, our idea portal, and our platform for modeling conventions are just a few of the examples for successful concepts which give our customers excellent resources with which to strive towards and accomplish their business goals.
