All the guides are on OTN. Use the Self Update feature to receive the agent binaries for agent deployment.

15 Pre- requisites for Enterprise Manager 12.1 Install Make sure that host where you plan to install the EM 12.1 is a on a certified operating system, Refer install requirement doc Make sure that existing database to house the EM 12.1 repository is a certified database, refer to the install requirement doc Make sure the user (typically, oracle) that installs EM is part of the Oracle inventory group (oinstall), this group owns the Oracle inventory. Make sure that you meet all the hardware and software requirements, refer to the Install guide Make sure that no environmental variable are set prior to installation For example, Oracle_Home or Oracle_SID should not be set. Make sure that umask is set to 022 in the shell that you invoke the runinstaller While installing on hosts having multiple IP addresses, the host name is derived from the ORACLE_HOSTNAME variable that is passed while invoking the installer. For example:./runinstaller ORACLE_HOSTNAME=host1.foo.com

17 Pre- requisites for Enterprise Manager 12.1 Install WLS Related Pre-requisites Supported WLS version = only Support only TYPICAL WLS installs EM 12.1 installer installs WLS but you can also provide existing WLS install for GC domain Existing WLS install user and EM install user should be same No patches required on top of WLS You must not install Cloud Control on an Oracle WebLogic Server instance that already has Oracle SOA Suite installed. EM 12.1 and Oracle SOA Suite cannot co-exist because the ORACLE_COMMON property is used by both the Enterprise Manager Administration Server and the SOA Suite Administration i ti Server The JDK that gets installed with the installer is 1.6 version 24

18 ORACLE_HOME Structure OMS Oracle Home ORACLE_HOME/bin OMS_INSTANCE_HOME OMS_INSTANCE_HOME/sysman OMS_INSTANCE_HOME/sysman/config ORACLE_HOME/log ORACLE_HOME/bin The bin directory in the Management Service home contains commands used to control the components of the Cloud Control installation. This directory contains configuration files for OMS home. The sysman directory in the OMS instance home contains the system management files associated with this Cloud Control installation. The config directory contains Management Service configuration files. This directory contains log files for the Oracle Management Service. The repository log files are under sysman/log/schemamanager. The install logs are under ORACLE_HOME/cfgtoollogs. The operation logs are under OMS_INSTANCE_HOME/em/EMGC_O MS1/sysman/log. The bin directory in the Management Service home contains commands used to control the components of the Cloud Control installation.

19 ORACLE_HOME Structure Agent Oracle Home To start or stop an Oracle Management Agent, you use the emctl command located in the bin directory of the AGENT_INSTANCE_HOME/bin Log files are present in AGENT_INSTANCE_HOME/sysman/log

20 Oratab entries for each ORACLE_HOME From EM 12.1 the OMS and Agent entries will be in /etc/oragchomelist and not in /etc/oratab Database entry will be in /etc/oratab

21 Demo Installing Enterprise Manager 12.1 on Linux x86 (32 bit) Demo Flow: Step 1. Install Enterprise Manager 12.1 Note: The EM installer will install the WLS , so that user doesn t have to manually install it. Pre-condition: Oracle Database 11.2 is already installed to house the repository

22 Post Install Verify the installation: a. Navigate to the Oracle home of the OMS and run the following command to see a message that confirms that OMS is up and running. $<ORACLE_HOME>/bin/emctl status oms b. Navigate to the Oracle home of the Management Agent and run the following command to see a message that confirms that the Management Agent is up and running. $<ORACLE_HOME>/bin/emctl status agent c. Login to the Grid Control console through a browser d. Make sure that all the targets are showing up

26 Enterprise Manager 12.1 De-installation What's new De-Install Process : Reference homes (Plug-in home) should be deinstalled first. Dependent homes should be deinstalled next. Database home when selected for deinstall causes the database home to get deleted completely. To drop only the 12c repository, use RepManager by passing -dropall option. Two modes of deinstallation ti : Silent and GUI

27 Enterprise Manager 12.1 De-installation What's new Two ways to invoke the runinstaller to perform the de-install : From 12c ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin / Note: ORACLE_HOME can be either OMS_HOME or AGENT_HOME. From 12c Software_download_location/Disk1 location Note: The above two ways of invoking the runinstaller are applicable to both GUI and silent deinstallation methods. Flag deinstall deinstall must be passed to runinstaller for the deinstall. It is applicable for both the above ways of invocation. f f Doing the manual delete like rm rf of the oracle homes and a manual cleanup of the orainventory is not recommended way of deinstallation

29 What Happens During De-installation? 1) First OUI tries to remove the files present in the oracle home. ORACLE_HOME/cfgtoollogs directory does not get deleted to retain the de-installation logs. If any file is getting accessed by running processes, the same will not get deleted. Note: Flag -removeallfiles is to be used with runinstaller to force the deletion of the whole oracle home directory. 2) Secondly, Oracle home would be detached from orainventory. What does not happen during de-installation? 1) Removal of entries from /etc/oragchomelist [ oms and agent entries] and /etc/oratab [database entries]. User has to manually remove these entries as applicable. 2) The de-configuration of plug-ins and the OMS home. 3) Stopping of processes in OMS and Agent oracle home. For a clean de-installation, follow the best practices mentioned in next slide.

30 De-installation Methods for Agent How to de-install the target agent: a) First de-install the reference homes to agent i.e plug-ins & sbin. b) Perform de-installation of agent. i. Graphical: Invoke the runinstaller from <AGENT_HOME>/oui/bin and de-install the agent. ii. Silent: Invoke the runinstaller from <AGENT_HOME>/oui/bin with silent option and pass the absolute path of the agent home in parameter REMOVE_HOMES. c) A separate script will be provided d to user to deinstall agent and plugins at one shot in MLR. Logs to verify if deinstallation fails: [Applicable to all oracle homes] 1. /tmp/orainstall<time _ stamp>/*.* 2. <orainventory>/logs/installactions<time_stamp>* 3. <orainventory>/logs/*.*

31 Troubleshooting De-install Option Fig 1: -deinstall not passed to installer. So, remove button is disabled. Fig 2: -deinstall is passed to installer. So, remove button is enabled.

32 Troubleshooting Inventory Homes Error: Inventory dialog says no homes found. Resolution: Re-check the command used for de-installation. The inventory pointer location should be passed incase there is no central inventory. Fig 1: Either no orainst.loc passed and no oracle homes in central inventory (or) no oracle homes exist in inventory pointed by orainst.loc passed to installer Fig 2: Look and feel of OUI de-installer.

33 Troubleshooting Oracle Homes Cannot be De-installed Error: Specified oracle home has reference homes and hence cannot be de installed. Resolution: De-install the reference homes listed in the error and then try de-installing the dependent home. Do not try to de-install an oracle home along with its reference homes at one shot. Fig 1: Any reference homes that are not installed causes this error. Fig 2: -removeallfiles shows warning popup.
