JBoss AS 6 JNDI Naming for EJBs How does a client application refer to the EJB resource defined in the diagram below? class assignment3 - dao: EmployeeDAO = null «stateful-session-ejb» EmployeeListEJB + addemployee(employee :EmployeeDTO) : DAResponseCode + close() : void + deleteemployee(id :String) : DAResponseCode + EmployeeListEJB() + findemployeebyid(id :String) : EmployeeDTO + getemployeelist() : List<EmployeeDTO> + getlastresponsecode() : DAResponseCode + initialize(datasourcetype :DataSourceType) : void + performoperation(operation :String) : void + resume() : void + suspend() : void + updateemployee(employee :EmployeeDTO) : = "EmployeeListEJB") -dao EmployeeDAO + addemployee(emp :EmployeeDTO) : DAResponseCode + deleteemployee(id :String) : DAResponseCode + findemployeebyid(id :String) : EmployeeDTO + getemployeelist() : List<EmployeeDTO> + getlastresponsecode() : DAResponseCode + performoperation(operation :String) : void + updateemployee(emp :EmployeeDTO) : DAResponseCode EmployeeList + close() : void + initialize(datasourcetype :DataSourceType) : void
JMX Management Console The JMX Management Console provides lots of valuable information about the application server, including a view into the data store for its JNDI directory service. This view can be used to reverse-engineer the naming process provider a better understanding how to annotate the EJB and how to refer to the EJB from the client side. Start by opening-up the management console. With my installation, the URL is Select the JNDIView link under the jboss section. With my installation, you can get there directly using the URL
At the bottom of the page there is a button to invoke the list operation. Click on this for a snapshot view of the entries in the directory. There will be two namespaces listed: the java: namespace, and an unqualified namespace referred to as Global JNDI. java: Namespace To find the JNDI name in the java: namespace, scan-through the listing and search for global identifier. Under global, look for the name of the EJB. Below that, you will find the names of the references for the local and remote EJB interfaces. These names can be used with the lookup attribute in annotation, or as the name parameter with InitialContext.lookup = "java:global/assignment3ejb/employeelistejb!a bcit.comp4655.assignment3.employeelistremote") private EmployeeList employeelistejb; InitialContext context = new InitialContext(); EmployeeList employeelistejb = (EmployeeList) context. lookup("java:global/assignment3ejb/employeelistejb!a bcit.comp4655.assignment3.employeelistremote");

Global Namespace Don t confuse the Global namespace with the java:global namespace. They are often both referred-to as the global namespace, but in-fact one is an unqualified or global namespace, and the other is global identifier in the java: namespace. To find the mapped JNDI name in the Global namespace, scan-through the listing and search for the name which was specified as the mappedname in annotation. This name can be used with the lookup or mappedname attribute in annotation, or as the name parameter with InitialContext.lookup method. If the mappedname was not specified, this name entry would not be present. You will also find the names of the references for the local and remote EJB interfaces under a listing with the name of the EJB jar file. These names can be used with the lookup attribute in annotation, or as the name parameter with InitialContext.lookup = = = "EmployeeListEJB!a bcit.comp4655.assignment3.EmployeeListRemote") private EmployeeList employeelistejb; InitialContext context = new InitialContext(); EmployeeList employeelistejb = (EmployeeList) context.lookup("employeelistejb"); EmployeeList employeelistejb = (EmployeeList) context.lookup("employeelistejb!a bcit.comp4655.assignment3.employeelistremote ");
