1 Departamento de Engenharia Informática Enterprise Integration BPEL Tutorial IE 2016 In this tutorial, we shall create a simple BPEL process in JDeveloper 11g, deploy and test the SOA application. 1. Open the VM Control Center and check if the AdminServer is running. If not, start it. 2. Open JDeveloper and use the Default Role. 3. Create an application and project by following these steps: In the menu, select File -> New... In the Categories pane, select General. Click on Generic Application and on the OK button. In the Create Generic Application window, change the Application Name to BPELExample and click on Next. In Step 2 of the Create Generic Application window, change the Project Name to SimpleBPELPrj. 2 Within the Project Technologies tab, click on SOA and on the right arrow button (i.e, > ). i. SOA should appear in the Selected pane as shown below. Click on Next In Step 3, change the Composite Name to SimpleBPEL and select Empty Composite in the Composite Template pane. Click on Finish IST/DEI Pág. 2 de 13

3 Creating a SOA Composite Application with a BPEL Process 4. Select composite.xml in the Design view. This is the SOA Composite Editor which currently contains no service components. 5. In order to create a BPEL Process, we have to add the BPEL Process component (in the Component Palette) to the Components lane (in the Design view) of the composite application diagram. In other words, we drag-and-drop the BPEL process to the Components lane. 6. The Create BPEL Process window should open automatically. Change the following information: Select BPEL 2.0 Specification Name: HelloWorldBPEL Template: Synchronous BPEL Process The checkbox Expose as a SOAP service should be selected 7. 4 The composite application diagram should look like this: The HelloWorld BPEL process is the only service component and the process is exposed as a Web service; thus, this component will be invoked through the SOAP protocol. 8. Open the HelloWorldBPEL.bpel in the Application Navigator (you can also open the HelloWorldBPEL.bpel by double-clicking the HelloWorld BPEL component on the SOA composite application diagram). The following BPEL Component Designer should open; this designer is a visual editor for implementing BPEL processes. IST/DEI Pág. 4 de 13

5 9. From the Component Palette, drag-and-drop the Assign activity on top of the arrow that links the receiveinput to the replyoutput. 10. Double-click the Assign1 (Assign activity). In the Edit Assign window, click on the General tab. Rename the Assign activity to OutputAssign to make the process code easier to understand. IST/DEI Pág. 5 de 13

6 11. Click on the Copy Rules tab and drag-and-drop the Expression icon to the canvas in the center (as shown below). 12. In the Expression Builder window, use the concat() function from the String functions to concatenate Hello with the client:input from the inputvariable., as shown below. N.B., the inputvariable is automatically created and contains the incoming message. 13. Click on OK. 14. Drag the expression in order to assign it to the client:result of the outputvariable, as shown below. The outputvariable is automatically created and contains the output message. 7 15. Click on OK. 16. Save your project. Creating a Connection to the Oracle WebLogic Server 17. In order to deploy an deploy a SOA composite application, we first have to create a connection to the Oracle WebLogic Server. Thus, select File -> New in the menu. 18. In the Categories pane, select General -> Connections and then select Application Server Connection. Click on OK. 19. Enter a Connection Name, such as VM_SOA_AppSrv, and select WebLogic 10.3 for the Connection Type. Click on Next. IST/DEI Pág. 7 de 13

8 20. Enter a Username (weblogic) and Password (welcome1). Click on Next. 21. Change the Weblogic Domain to dev_soasuite. Click on Next. 22. Click on the Test Connection button. (All tests should end successfully). 23. Click on Finish. The connection to the application server is now created. IST/DEI Pág. 8 de 13

9 Deploying the SOA Composite Application 24. In order to deploy the SOA composite application, right-click the SOA Project (SimpleBPELPrj) and select Deploy -> SimpleBPELPrj. 25. A deploy project wizard appears. Select Deploy to Application Server. Click on Next. IST/DEI Pág. 9 de 13

10 26. Check the option Overwrite any existing composites with the same revision ID and uncheck the option Keep running instances on after redeployment. Click on Next. 27. Select the application server connection that we have created in the previous section (VM_SOA_AppSrv). Click on Next. IST/DEI Pág. 10 de 13

11 28. You may choose the partition to which you would like to deploy the application; however, we will use the default partition. Hence, click on Next. 29. Click on Finish. Testing the SOA Composite Application 30. In order to test the SOA composite application, we will use a web-based application called Enterprise Manager 11g. Thus, open the Firefox Web Brower. 31. 12 32. Enter the username (weblogic) and password (welcome1). Click on Login. 33. Expand Farm_dev_soasuite, SOA, soa-infra (AdminServer), and default. 34. Click on your SOA composite application (SimpleBPEL). 35. Click on the Test button. 36. Enter a value for your Input string. IST/DEI Pág. 12 de 13
