9 Introduction The IBM Initiate Master Data Service System Requirements outlines the basic server and workstation hardware and software required to run the IBM Initiate Master Data Service 9.7 platform components. The specifications do not consider requirements for vendor software or other customer requirements. The information provides initial configuration guidance; your specific configuration will be based on the needs and requirements of your organization. 11 Chapter 1. Supported operating systems and databases There are specific operating systems and databases that are supported for the server hosting the IBM Initiate Master Data Service software. Check with your project or account team for availability. Table 1. Microsoft Windows operating system registry: All connections to the Master Data Engine hub used by IBM Initiate Workbench are stored in the Microsoft Windows system registry. It is important that users running IBM Initiate Workbench have appropriate access rights within the operating system to create registry entries. 2. Microsoft SQL Server 7.5: Customers upgrading with SQL Server 7.5 should confirm vendor software requirements with your project manager. 3. Operating systems: All operating systems must be 64 bit. 4. JDK version: JDK 1.6. This JDK is bundled in the component installers where applicable. Using a JDK version older than 1.6 with any IBM Initiate Master Data Service components is not supported. 13 Chapter 2. IBM Initiate Master Data Service platform components Master Data Engine There are specific components that you receive when you license the IBM Initiate Master Data Service. The base package includes: v Master Data Engine v IBM Initiate Workbench this tool is used to configure the Master Data Engine and hub dictionary, algorithms, composite views, user/group accounts and generate data analysis. v IBM Initiate Enterprise Viewer v IBM Initiate Master Data Service Integration Suite, which includes: SDKs (Java, Web Services, and IBM Initiate Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture (ESOA) Toolkit), Message Broker Suite (Inbound, Outbound, Mapping, and Routing Brokers, HL7 Query Adapter, and Synchronization) v IBM Initiate Web Reports Consult with your account or project manager for confirmation on the components you will receive. For additional components, see Chapter 3, Optional components and products, on page 9. There are specific hardware and software requirements that must be met for the server on which the Master Data Engine is being installed. There are many different aspects to consider when determining hardware for the IBM Initiate Master Data Service and Master Data Engine. Consult with your IBM or Partner account team for sizing and architecture recommendations that best fit your business and technology requirements.
