1 Firmware update instructions for the Conceptronic CH3SNAS Read this first! Before updating the CH3SNAS with a new firmware, you need to backup your data. During the upgrade process of the CH3SNAS from version 1.02 to a later version and using RAID configuration, it's possible that due to a modified parameter in the RAID table the device is asking for a reformat when upgrading the firmware. 1. Login to the CH3SNAS. The default settings are: IP address User name Password : : admin : <empty> 2. Press the Configuration button. 3. Click on Tools in the top menu bar. 4. Click on Firmware in the left menu bar. 5. Click on the Browse button to locate the firmware file. When done it will appear in the File path field. 6. Click 'Apply'. 7. The upgrade will start. Follow the instructions on your screen. 8. When the upgrade process is completed the CH3SNAS will reboot automatically. 9. A factory reset is needed to make sure the firmware becomes fully functional: Note: When a factory reset is initiated, all previous settings will be lost. As a result, the CH3SNAS will need to be reconfigured afterwards. - Login to the CH3SNAS as described at point 1. - Click on Tools in the top menu bar. - Click on System in the left menu bar. - Click on Restore under the Default section and follow the instructions on your screen. 10. The CH3SNAS is now fully updated and ready to be used. Don t forget to reconfigure your CH3SNAS before use (if needed). Page 1 of 6

3 - Make sure the hard disk is empty and has no partitions before formatting. Using a preformatted hard disk or a hard disk which has been formatted In the CH3SNAS with old firmware, can result in a failing format process. v1.04rc5 August 1, UPnP AV Server file size limit for PlayStation 3 is 2 GB. Note: - When using the UPnP AV Server, the first folder cannot have a space in the name. Doing so will result in the UPnP AV Server not being able to refresh its contents. For instance: example- @ .com or example. @ .com. - alerts cannot use anonymous SMTP like .com. - When upgrading from version 1.02 or 1.03 with older UPnP AV Server, inotify is not started and the UPnP AV Server is not updated instantly. - New content like M2TS, TS, MKV, IFO, VC1, etc. is not indexed by default. Only when a new folder is created or copied. - UPnP clients can see and browse content on the CH3SNAS, but not play it. - Files larger than 2 GB cannot be played on the Playstation 3. - Samba server time setting is not synchronized with FTP server and device time setting. - Certain files of the CH3SNAS can be revealed by using the web interface. Security level has now been raised. Modified: - UPnP AV Server: Refresh button and Auto Refresh Timer removed from GUI. UPnP AV Server now refreshes the newly added files automatically. - Changed from Cramfs to SquashFS. - Removed Scan Disk functionality. - mt-daapd problem is use bonjour tool issue: We only support to see the status. - Support for additional formats within the UPnP AV Server: FLAC, IFO, ISO, MKV, M2TS, VC1, DIVX, AAC, M4A, SUB, APE, FLV and DV. This can be found under Status» Print Info. - NFSv3 Server support. - FTP Server: Support for FTP logging option: O. - Pure-FTPd: Support for SIZE and MDTM. - Pure-FTPd: Support for SSL. - New header added to alert s: Auto-Submitted: auto-generated. - User can now be added to multiple groups. Under Samba, a user can see all folders to which he has rights to. Under FTP, a user can only see his own folder to which he has rights to. - Support for more characters in group name, but must start with a letter. The following characters are no allowed: $ ` & ( ) ; \ / < > - RAID-1 recover button: When RAID-1 gets degraded, a recover option is available on the status page. v1.03beta6a January 23, Hard disk cannot go into idle / sleep mode. For this function a reset to factory defaults is needed. After this you should reboot the CH3SNAS and reconfigure all options manually for good functionality. - It was not possible to remove a network share through the web interface - Support for Jumbo Frames. The MTU value can be changed from 3000 to Central European codepage support for FTP Server v1.03beta5 December 21, RAID roaming is not (yet) supported. This means that it s not guaranteed that a RAID Array keeps existing after inserting the 2 hard disks in another CH3SNAS unit. To keep the array alive the other CH3SNAS must be configured to RAID1 already. Fixed is the issue that when trying above feature the RAID array in the original CH3SNAS was broken. When FTP was used wrong volume names and labels were used. - When streaming data to a media player at random times the stream is disconnected. Debugging showed that if the lease was ended the whole startup script was executed causing the UPnP Server to be restarted as well. - After the migration to PureFTPd some users mentioned they could not login quickly. There was a waiting time of 20 or more seconds. This is now solved with the FTP H option. This means no reverse DNS lookup takes place anymore. 5 v1.03beta4 December 14, No login pop-up window appears when using non-anonymous account login to the FTP Server. - When moving a hard disk from one unit to another formatting is needed. - Added a Skip button to skip formatting of a hard disk. This can now be longer than 8 characters. - NFS Server modules added to apply Fun Plug(s). v1.02 November 5, When using the full size of the hard disk to create RAID1, no resync was possible and no rebuild occurs. - Gateway IP address is now shown correctly in the web configuration. v1.02beta3 October 12, Only one Share Name is showing up in the Easy Search Utility, like Volume_1. 6 - When editing an existing user, it is only possible to change the password. The group cannot be changed.
