3 1. Product Overview 1.1. 4 2. SMART/Disk Info In this page, it is separated into three sections: Partition at the top, Device Identify Table at the middle and SMART Identify Table at the bottom. It shows general information of the Disk and SMART functions. Figure 1: SMART/Disk information Page 2

5 2.1. Partition The user can choose one of installed disks by click disk number to see its information, ismart maximum can support 8 drives on computer at once Device Identify Table There are description of disk display as below. Item Health (%) Temperature (Celsius) Description Health indicates the percentage of remaining disk life. When the percentage is under 10%, we suggest you to back up the data. The life span is calculated by program/erase count. For SLC Flash as the example, the health will be 0% when program/erase reached 100,000 times. (SLC life span is 100,000 program/erase times.) The temperature range is from -50 ~105 on a single disk. It supports commercial temperature (0 ~70 ) and industrial temperature (-40 ~85 ). *For SATA III drives ismart only support temperature on industrial temperature products. Model Name The manufacturer model name of installed disk. Firmware The version of firmware of installed disk. Serial Number The serial number of installed disk. Interface The transmission interface of installed disk. Standard The standard of installed disk. Drive Letter The Hard Disk Drive installed on your board. Transfer Mode The current performance of installed disk, e.g. it shows SATA/300 which is 300MB/s with SATA. Power On Count The total counts of disk power on, it means the disk has been power on how many times. The count will increase only when the power is totally turned off before power on. Power On Hours The total working hours of the disk, e.g. 0 means the disk is just power on not been used. If it shows 100, which means the disk has been running 100 working hours. Features The supported features of installed disk. The feature item will light on if it is supported on the disk. There are SMART, LBA48, NCQ, TRIM, Security, Thermal Sensor, Write Protect, Idle Power Page 3

6 Saving features. For Write Protect and Idle Power Saving features, if the disk is under Write Protect mode or Idle Power Saving mode, the background color of text box will become green Function one click The function switch button provide user enable/disable SSD function by click one button easily. Figure 2: Function switch button 1. Write protect Clicking the "W.Protect", ismart will show up warning of function enable, then click the yes button, the function will be enabled. The write protect function will be enabled if one of FW or HW's write protect be enabled. Page 4

7 2. Idle power saving Clicking "Idle power saving", ismart will show up warring of function enable, then click the yes button, the function will be enabled. After idle power saving function was enabled, when the device into idle mode, the power consumption of SSD will reduce 30%, it can make system s energy work more efficiency, moreover extend your battery life. Security Erase When user click the "Security" icon, ismart will doing the the Security Erase function which can erase all data in SSD to make sure the data security. After security erase data can t be recovered, SSD will be restored original performance. Strongly recommend back up your data before implement security erase, data can t be recovered after security erase. Page 5

8 4. ianalyzer When user click the "ianalyzer" icon, ismart will show up warring of function enable, then click the yes button, the function will be enabled. ianalyzer records read/write behavior of a SSD in real-time, categorizing these opeations as either sequential or random I/O, as well as segmenting by the size of the operation. ianalyzer let users base their storage needs instead of working off assumptions or hypotheticals. The level of detail that ianalyzer provides, lets customers predict drive failures before they happen and select the right SSD to maximize service life for their need. Figure 4: ianalyzer 2.4. SMART Identify Table The bottom table shows the values for all SMART attributes. Some values are shown for all SSD and HDDs. Some values are only shown for Innodisk own products. For all SSD and HDD: Function Power Cycle Count Power-On Hours Temperature Bad Block Count Initial Free Block Count Description The total counts of power cycle of installed disk. The total working hours of power on of installed disk. The temperature of installed disk. The total counts of bad block. When system has a new bad block, free block is needed Page 6

9 Average Erase Count Maximum Erase Count Spare Block to do the replacement. The average erases count of all blocks. The maximum erase count value of all blocks. The value of spare block of the disk. For Innodisk SSD: Function Description Total Erase Count This value shows block erase counts of whole SSD. Total Later Bad After user used SSD for a period of time, there will have some Block Count bad block. Later bad block is unstable. SMART firmware will stop using bad block and do bad block replacement. Read Later Bad Total numbers of bad block occurring by reading data with ECC Block Count error. Write Later Bad Total numbers of bad block occurring by writing data with flash Block Count error. Erase Later Bad Total numbers of bad block occurring by erasing block with error. 10 3. Status Status display innodisk SSD products real-time status, including temperature, life span, wear leveling and ianalyzer. User can monitor and record disk real-time status through ismart tool to analysis SSDs user behavior. Figure 5: For the Status, ismart tool will show three status of device: Temperature Lifespan and Wearleveling. Page 8

11 3.1. Temperature In temperature table, the user is able to set the value of Log Timer and Save as a temperature log file in the folder for debugging if necessary. Stop button will show the temperature as the graph mode, so the user can see the changes of temperature more clearly. *There is also a Status log file stored in the folder. The user can refer to this log file for more information or sent to Innodisk for debugging. The Status log file includes Operation System, BIOS version, CPU, RAM, Graphics and HD information. Figure 6: Real-time temperature 3.2. Lifespan The Lifespan graph is only for Innodisk own products. It shows the percentage of remain life and expired day of installed disk, so the user is clearly being noticed if the SSD needs the replacement. Figure 7: Lifespan Page 9

12 3.3. Wear leveling The Lifespan graph is only for Innodisk own products. The figure show the SSD erase count in every block. (see figure 6) Figure 8: Wearleveling status Page 10

13 3.4. ianalyzer ianalyzer is a powerful feature for collecting, analyzing and displaying data in Innodisk s ismart utility. Through the ianalyzer function, customers can easily to capture their application s data behavior. This real-time collection provides in-depth knowledge of the user s application, and aids them in choosing the best solution for their system. Innodisk ianalyzer is able to work on a wide variety of embedded systems, including industrial, medical, transportation, automation, and gaming industries. (ianalyzer function only supported SATA III with DRAM products) Figure 9: ianalyzer Page 11

14 4. Performance/Alert ismart performance benchmark feature provide user test drive s sequential read, sequential write performance. Alert feature provide user setting threshold of innodisk SSD products, once SSD s parameters arrived alert condition ismart will send alert message to users mailbox. 15 4.1. Performance There are options to select the disk. The user can see the performance of Read and Write transmission by doing Read/Write test by Start button Alert The user can set the options for different alert conditions. If one of conditions happens, there will be a pop-up window to alert the user. The user will also set Mail Alert to receive notification by their host setting. The alert messages in a pop-up window or will occur only at the moment when ismart is opened. Page 13

16 5. System Info There is System information display information about users PC. Including OS, BIOS, CPU, RAM, Motherboard, Graphics, Net Card, IP, Storage & Storage SN. Figure 12: System information Page 14
