1 This lab exercise demonstration will show how to access and review Call History now stored on the RealPresence Access Director 3.0 system. Page 1 of 27

2 There are three steps to this lab exercise: first, we will review and modify the current history retention settings on the RPAD system, next we will examine the RPAD Call History for a SIP call and the final step will be to review the call history for an H.323 call. Page 2 of 27

3 Accessing the RPAD with an administrative account, navigate to Admin > History Retention Settings. Page 3 of 27

4 Using the retention values configured on this page, the system purges the oldest registration history, call history, and registration signaling message records when: The number of records exceeds the maximum number to retain The records have been stored for the maximum number of days Note that the default number of call history records to retain is 250,000 and the number of days retention is 90. 5 To extend the retention time frame to 120 days, simply enter the new value and click Update. Page 5 of 27

6 Now let's return to the Dashboard... Page 6 of 27

7 ...and navigate to Diagnostics > Call History. Page 7 of 27

8 The Search window is already set to show today's calls, so we'll simply change the Signaling Type... Page 8 of 27

10 ...and then click Search. Page 10 of 27

11 Let's select the point-to-point call initiated by User Two and take the Action to Show Call Details. Page 11 of 27

12 The Call Info pane shows the call status, duration, signaling type along with originator and destination information. We can see the originator s SIP URI is 222@medetalk.com and the dial string was 5158@medeatalk.com. Now let's take a look at the Call Events pane. Page 12 of 27

13 The second line item is the INBOUND_REQUEST SIP_INVITE. Click on the Show Message button to see additional details. Page 13 of 27

14 This additional level of detail shows the INVITE details including the transport protocol used (TCP) and the model of the endpoint making the call (RealPresence Desktop for Windows, Release 3.0). When finished, click OK. Page 14 of 27

15 Click OK again to close the Call Details window. Page 15 of 27

18 ... and then click Search to list today's H.323 calls. Page 18 of 27

19 Select a call from the list and take the Action to Show Call Details. Page 19 of 27

20 The Call Info pane for an H.323 call also shows the call status, duration, signaling type along with originator and destination information. We can see the H.323 ID and e.164 alias information for the originator and the dialed digits of Now let's take a look at the Call Events pane. Page 20 of 27

21 The first row shows the INBOUND_REQUEST for RAS Admission or the ARQ for the inbound call. Click Show Message to see more detailed information. Page 21 of 27

23 ...to reveal the RAS messaging for the inbound Call Request. The Destination and Source information can be seen here. Page 23 of 27

24 Scrolling to the bottom shows the bandwidth requested and the name of the H.323 gatekeeper. Click OK when finished viewing the ARQ. Page 24 of 27

26 This concludes the lab exercise demonstration of RPAD version 3.0 Call History. In this lab exercise, we modified the history retention settings on the RPAD system and examined the RPAD Call Details for both a SIP and H.323 call. Page 26 of 27
