3 1 BASIC INSTRUCTIONS. This manual assists in the installation and use of the "LEAK-METER" program, designed for the AR5 series analyzer. The operation of the networks analyze with program LEAK-METER allows the detection and analysis, of the leakage current in the installations. 1.1 CHECKS ON RECEIPT. On receipt of your order check the following: 1. The material received corresponds to the specifications in your order. 2. Check that the material received has not been damaged during delivery. 3. Check that the following accessories have been received: 1 Programming cartridges for the analyzer setting with the required program. 1 Programming cartridges for the analyzer with the coprocessor program. 1 Instruction manual. 1 measuring module. 1 connection wire to connect the measuring module to the analyzer. 1.2 SAFETY ADVICE. For the safe use of the analyzer it is fundamental that the people who install it or manipulate, follow the usual safety measures, as well as the different warnings indicated in manual saying. 1.3 CONNECTION INSTRUCTIONS. Before connecting the equipment, check the following: 1. Power supply voltage: from external supply. Mains input 100 V AC V AC. Supplier output to AR5/AR5-L 12 V DC. 2. Mains frequency Hz. 3. Maximum current in the voltage measurement circuit: 500 V AC. phase-neutral. 3

4 2 ANALYZER START-UP. 2.1 NEW PROGRAM RECORDING PROCEDURE. The analyzer has an internal memory to store different programs. Once these programs have been loaded, the equipment can be used as: Standard analyzer, display of the data stored, harmonic analyzer, disturbance logger... Before starting this process, ensure that the equipment is supplied from a supplier. To load this program, the following procedure has to be followed: 1. Switch off the equipment 2. Connect the program cartridge to the cartridge port located on the supplier. 3. Switch on the equipment. 4. With [5] and [6] keys select the loading program option (LOAD PROGRAM). Press [ER] or wait for a few moments to confirm that this is the required operation. 5. Select where the program is to be stored. An empty position is marked as EMPTY PROGRAM. If a position is selected where there is already a program such as Harmonics, the program will be replaced 6. The analyzer will test to check if the cartridge has been connected. 7. If it detects that a cartridge has been connected, it will proceed with loading the program. The process ends when LOAD OK appears on the screen. 8. Once the program is loaded, reset the equipment clicking on OFF. 9. If no cartridge is detected or there has been any error with the program loading process, reset the equipment and try again. One single loader will be operational with the Analyzer once the program has been loaded for the first time. Input the equipment series number into the loader 4

5 2.2 WORKING PROGRAM SELECTION. The equipment can store different operating programs in its memory. The required program is chosen on start up. Switch on the equipment. 1. A list of available programs will appear on the screen. 2. Use the [5] and [6] keys to select the program the analyzer will use. 3. Press [ER] or wait for a few moments to confirm that this is the required operation. 3 PRESATION OF DATA ON THE. The PROGRAM Leak-Meter has different screens to program the data to be displayed and subsequently shown on the screen. 3.1 DATA SCREEN The first screen allows to visualize the measured voltage, the earth leakage current and the maximum value of this that has been detected. The selected option is indicated in bold. If key is pressed it will visualize the setup. 3.2 TRIGGER SCREEN. If you have selected a single record mode (see MODE.), when the trigger conditions are complied, appears a window with the characteristics of the trigger. 5

6 Each parameter indicates the following: RCD Sensit: Programmed sensitivity Delay: Programmed retardation Leak Max: maximum current detected Int: leakage average current Time: Time between the trigger and the voltage falls down. 3.3 UP VISUALIZATION. This screen permits to check the most important setup parameters in the analyzer. The screen on the left is the one shown on the analyzer s display. The screen on the right explains the meaning of each term. 7 3.3.1 Filter activation. The module has built-in a lowpass filter, that allows to discard the leakage currents of high frequency, very frequent in the facilities. In order to activate or to deactivate the filter it must press key ER and will appear the indication FILTER in the inferior part of display. 4 MEASURING MODULE CONNECTION. The measuring module allows measuring the leakage current in the main. It has connectors to connect the CF s clamps, and also allows to connect the protection transformer that already maybe exist in the installation, using a connection cable, which can be the same one that are used to measure the voltage. With the also two plugs are supplied, to connect the cable to the connection terminals of the transformer. The module also has a DB-9 connector to be connected to entrance AUX of AR5/AR-L and IL1 (black connector) Once the module it s connected and the analyzer recognizes it, it will appear an indication in the inferior part of the screen. 7

8 5 PROGRAMMING THE ANALYZER. The LEAK-METER program has a setup menu to configure the analyzer. To access into the setup, press key in the file selection screen. UP RUN FILES CLEAR OFF LANGUAGE Password: The analyzer will then inquiry for a password that consists of a key sequence to be pressed (the user has 15 seconds to press this sequence). If the default password has not been modified, then the following key sequence must be followed: PASSWORD [3] [] [5] [] Once this password is entered, the analyzer will permit the user to modify any Setup parameters. All programs have an independent setup, therefore, the setup must be always check to ensure a proper operation, since any modification will only affect the active operation program. If any parameter has been changed, when you exit from UP, it ask for save the new configuration or exit without save the changes. Setup Changed Sure < Yes > < No > <Yes>: Save the changes and exit. <No>: Exit from UP without save the changes. 8

9 There are the following menus in setup: UP RUN FILES CLEAR OFF LANGUAGE Select one option with keys [6] & [5]. To access any menu option use [8] or [ER]. To close the menu press [3] or []. If this key is used when only the main menu is open, this is closed. If any modification over any setup parameter was done, before closing a confirmation of setup change is requested on display. 5.1 UP MENU. The analyzer can be user-configured to different performances involving its data analysis and recording modes, as it is followed shown: UP MENU. This option allows setting the conditions of analyzer, in particular the connection type and the transformer relation of voltage and currents, among others. 9

WN: Transformer series WN (see transformer label). 2. WG: Transformer serie WG (see transformer label). 3. CLAMP: Leakage current clamp CF-10 or CF-5 4. OTHER: If another transformer type its used, you should select this option, then the analyzer will enquire for the number of turns of the winding. In this menu, you should select the same sensor you connect in the measuring module RCD: Residual Current Device setting. In this menu, the installation residual current device specifications should be set in the analyzer. 10

The analyzer will measure the earth leakage current similarly would do a residual current device with the programmed characteristics. 12 This option allows setting the measuring range, less than 1 Amperes or up to 10 Amperes MODE. To two ways of operation or taking of measures can be selected. 1. Continuous mode: the analyzer periodically do records with a period defined in the menu Period. 2. Single: the device do a record in memory, only when there is a leakage current higher than programmed one. With this way the following options are due to select. UP RUN UP. FILESANALYSIS CLEAR COMM. ANALYSIS OFF CLOCK SENSOR LANGUAGE PASSWORD RCD RECALL RANGE MODE TRIGGER NAME MODE Single MODE Continuous Trigger It allows selecting if the equipment does a record in memory according to the following conditions. V1 Trigger: The analyzer does a record when the voltage reaches an level lower than 50V. The record file store 4 seconds before the trigger and 1 second after it IL trigger: When there is a earth leakage current of a higher value than programmed one. The analyzer records a file, with values that include form 1 second before the trigger and 4 seconds after it. TRIGGER V1p_n TRIGGER IL1 12

13 TRIGGER. You can program here certain conditions (Trigger) so that values are saved in memory only when these conditions are met. UP RUN UP. FILESANALYSIS CLEAR COMM. TIME ON 30/ 05 / 05 23:00:00 TIME OFF 31 / 05 / 05 23:00:00 When a time is set, will appear in the main screen the indication D/T?, meanwhile the conditions are not complied. ma INST MAX D/T? OFF. It allows to deactivate any programming of trigger that has been defined previously. OFF Yes Yes: deactivate the trigger 13

To modify: (alphanumeric input).. Select with keys [6], [5], [4] o [3]the character to modify and pres [] to validate each character. Select on display + [] to delete a character. [ER] to validate the total text or [] to exit with no modification. If the typed name already exists in memory, when exiting setting actions, the display will show: Overwrite file Sure? --> Do you really overwrite the file? If yes is answered, the previous file is deleted. If no is answered, setup menu is not exited, thus a new name can be typed for the file, or the setting actions can be cancelled. 5.2 COMM: COMMUNICATION PARAMETERS. Program here the parameters of the built-in RS-232 serial output. When selecting this option the present parameters are shown on display: COMM 9600 NO 8 1 Pressing [ER]: values on display are directly validated. Select with keys [4] or [3] the position to modify. Though keys [6], [5] the value of the selected position is increased or decreased. [ER] to validate the total value or [] to exit with no modification. 14

15 5.3 CLOCK: INTERNAL CLOCK. Use this section to set the analyzer internal clock in time: date / time and displaying format. When this option is selected, presently programmed values are shown by display: CLOCK TYPE DD / MM / AA HH:MM:SS After validating the date format, the present date and time will be displayed according to the selected arrangement: CLOCK 31/ 05 / 05 13:21:14 Proceed similarly than for the former section. 5.4 PASSWORD: SAFETY TING. Set here the analyzer password configuration. This password will be required to access the Setup menu. Thus, the manipulation of the analyzer by not-authorized people can be avoided. The default password is: PASSWORD [3] [] [5] [] Change of Setup access password: Firstly enter the old password: Then enter the new password: Finally, confirm the new password: OLD PASSWORD * * * * NEW PASSWORD * * * * CHECK PASSWORD * * * * 15

16 During this password modification process, the following error messages can be shown in screen during 5 s: Incorrect Old password Incorrect Check password Wrong password The confirmation of the new password has failed 5.5 RECALL: READ CONFIGURATION You can here recall a standard configuration. UP UP. RUN ANALYSIS FILES COMM. CLEAR CLOCK OFF PASSWORD LANGUAGE RECALL A confirmation is requested: Recall Setup sure <yes> or <no>. With keys [4] & [3] select yes or no, and then press [ER]. A Standard operation program for the analyzer is available to be user-recalled. Its features are: Sensity RCD = 100mA Delay RCD = 20ms Frequency = 50Hz Mode = continuo Períod = 60 seconds Filter = ACTIVATED Range = 1A Sensor = WG 5.6 MENU: SCREEN CONTRAST. The user can here vary the contrast of the analyzer s display. With the [4] you can intensify the display contrast and with the key [3] this can be lowered. 16

UP RUN FILES CLEAR RUN LANGUAGEOFF With keys [6], [5] RUN or STOP is selected. [ER] to validate or [] to exit with no modification. 5.8 FILES MENU. Non-volatile analyzer internal memory is storing data up to its maximum capacity. Once full, neither new data will not be saved in, nor stored data will be lost (provided no incorrect operation is done). When memory is full, the display will show: "MEMORY FULL". Once press, a confirmation is required. Press key [] to exit with no modification FORMAT: Formatting the analyzer internal memory. This option lets the user to format the internal memory. Format Mem. Sure? < Yes > < No > Once the format action over the internal memory is confirmed, a confirmation is required 1. Take into account that this action will mean all stored data to be deleted. 1 Do not turn the analyzer off during the memory format process, otherwise the display will show an error message and the process should be redone. 18

19 5.9 LANGUAGE MENU. It allows to select the language 2 in which the menus will be presented. LANGUAGE English With keys [6] & [5] select the file to be deleted. [ER] to confirm selected file erasing. Once press, a confirmation is required. Press key [] to exit with no modification. 6 ANALYZER COMMUNICATIONS. To connection to PC of the analyzer must be done through the power supplier set, which will be necessary connected to the main. Perform the connection using the two wires factory-delivered with the analyzer. One cable will link the analyzer to the power supplier set, and another cable is a standard RS232 connector When starting communication tasks take into account: Communication parameters of the analyzer and the PC must fully coincide. The power supplier set must be plugged into. The analyzer cannot be into the setup menu. CIRCUTOR has a software package that permits the user to retrieve stored data in the analyzer to PC for a further complete analysis. 2 This configuration is commune for all the programs 19

20 7 SAFETY WARNINGS. The user should take into account all installation instructions referred in sections INSTALLATION AND START-UP, Connection instructions and TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS of the analyzer. Note that with the instrument powered on, the terminals could be dangerous to touching, and cover opening or elements removal actions may allow accessing dangerous parts. The analyzer has been designed and tested to meet IEC 348 standard and is factory-shipped in proper conditions. 8 MAINTENANCE. The analyzer does not require any special maintenance. No adjustment, maintenance or repairing actions should be done over the instrument open and, should those are essential, high-qualified operators must perform them. Spares should be provided by manufacturer. The batteries are rechargeable and should be provided by manufacturer. Before any adjustment, replacement, maintenance or repairing operation is carried out, the instrument must be disconnected from any power supply source. When any protection failure is suspected to exist, the instrument must be immediately put out of service. The own instrument design permits a quick replacement in case of damage. Occasionally clean the equipment with water and detergent using a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
