1 2016 Trimble Juno 5 Guidance for NRI Grazing Lands Inventory Activities To prevent data loss, please purchase/insert a microsd or micro SDHC 4 to 8 GB (really low cost) will be sufficient you don t need anything larger than that but 2 GB if you can find one - will actually do quite nicely. See instructions for inserting a microsd or micro SDHC memory card at the bottom of this . o The CASI application creates segment data folders for backup data when you save data frequently a copy is updated in the backup folder on the card o If for any reason you are unable to get the original data off of the Juno it is possible to recover the backup data from the micro SD card o Note The Juno series handheld does not support SDIO (SD input/output) cards. Check the power settings on your Juno under Start > Settings > Power (Battery icon): o If External Battery Pack (EBP) is installed, External Battery Mode should be checked o If EBP is not installed, Handheld Charge Mode should be checked Other recommendations: o The Juno should be fully charged and shutdown between the time you download segments and the time that you start it up again however, do not store the Juno in shutdown for more than two days. o When this Juno is in shutdown mode please recharge every other day. If the Juno is to be placed in storage (shutdown for more than 2 days) put the Juno into storage mode. o Don t leave the Juno on the PC any longer than what is required to download and return segment data o Do not try to recharge the Juno using the USB port on a PC workstation, also do not leave the Juno plugged into the port promptly unplug when download or upload of segments is complete. Memory cards As an alternative to storage memory, you can save data to a memory card. Use either a microsd or a micro SDHC (high capacity) memory card to securely transfer data to and from another device that supports microsd or micro SDHC memory cards. Note The Juno series handheld does not support SDIO (SD input/output) cards. CAUTION The presence of any dust or moisture in the memory card slot may adversely affect the device and void your Trimble warranty. To prevent dust or moisture entering the memory card slot: When inserting or removing a memory card, place the handheld on a dust-free indoor surface. CAUTION Static electricity can harm electronic components inside the handheld. To prevent static damage, discharge static electricity from your body before you touch any of the electronic

2 components inside your device, such as a memory module. You can do so by touching an unpainted metal surface. To insert a microsd or micro SDHC memory card: 1. Turn off the handheld. See Trimble Juno 5 handheld User Guide Turning on and turning off the handheld, page Place the handheld face up on a dust-free indoor surface. 3. With the included screw driver remove the card slot cover (Number 4 on the Parts of the Juno). Remove the two screws enough to pull open the cover.

3 4. Place cover aside and prepare to insert the micro SD card. 5. Place the micro SD card on the tip of your finger, contact surface (gold contacts) facing up. NOTE: Do not touch the metal contact surface. 6. Gently insert the micro SD card into the micro SD card slot (lower slot) with the contacts still facing up.

Data saved to a memory card is available only when the card is inserted in the handheld. To remove the memory card from the memory card slot: 1. Turn off the handheld and remove the card slot cover.

4 7. Push the micro SD card all the way into the card slot with your finger tip until it locks into place. Use of tools is not recommended. 8. Replace the card slot cover orient the key part of the cover left so that it matches the slot on the port. Note Do not store required data or applications to a memory card if the card will be removed. Data saved to a memory card is available only when the card is inserted in the handheld. To remove the memory card from the memory card slot: 1. Turn off the handheld and remove the card slot cover. 2. Gently, with your finger nail push the card in and pull back. The card slot is spring loaded and should pop out the card enough to grab with your finger(s). Replace the card slot cover orient the key part of the cover left so that it matches the slot on the port. Turning on and turning off the handheld If the screen on the handheld is dark, the screen has been turned off tap on the screen to brighten. If the handheld is in Suspend mode or has been shut down press the Power key briefly (less than one second to turn on the handheld or wake it up from suspend. To put the handheld into Suspend mode, press the Power key briefly (less than one second). The handheld is placed in a very low power state, but the Bluetooth and wireless cellular modem radios may remain active (see Suspend mode, page 21) To completely shut down the handheld, press the Power button until the Power menu appears and then tap Shutdown. All running applications are shut down, and the handheld is completely turned off. To place the handheld into Storage mode, press the Power button until the Power menu appears, then tap on Reset. When the blue screen appears press the two inner most function buttons.
