1 December 18, 2009 Campaign no.: Subject:XU 600 SDI Calibration Update All markets except United States No YEAR MODEL MODEL NUMBER SERIAL NUMBER 2009 SG9A, SG9B Expedition TUV See list attached 2010 SGAA, SGAB, SGAF PROBLEM A - Break-in strategy may not be appropriate for some riding conditions. B - Under certain condition, some units may experience "check engine" light turning on related to muffler overheat. SOLUTION Update ECM software: The new break-in strategy will better protect the engine during the break-in period. Calibration was modified in the 6500 to 7000 RPM range in order to reduce muffler heat. Adjust calibration screw NOTE: This modification will be automatically performed when B.U.D.S. is connected at predelivery operation. For the unit non registered, no warranty claim will be accepted for this update. CALIBRATION FILE DOWNLOAD To download the appropriate file proceed as follows: 1. On the internet, go to the BRP web site: 3. On the menu, select: Document Type: DIAGNOSTIC SOFTWARE 4. Click on arrow and wait for results. 5. Select and download the calibration update file: FC NOTE: Remember where you save the file, because you will browse for it. If your internet connection is on another PC, you will want to download the file to CD ROM or other method of transfer, to update your shop computer. Use B.U.D.S. version P It is available from the following web site : 6. From B.U.D.S., click on TOOLS drop down list and select: UPDATE DATABASE 7. Click on ADD UPDATE. 8. Locate the previously downloaded calibration update file and click OPEN. 9. Click O.K. when the confirmation message appears. 10. Click CLOSE in the Update Database. 2. Connect T-HARNESS (P/N ) to a 12 V battery, using 12 V BATTERY SUPPLY CABLE (P/N ) Ensure all connections have been made before starting B.U.D.S. to allow proper operation. 5. Install the vehicle DESS key. 6. Start B.U.D.S. 7. Ensure both USB and Can lights of MPI-2 are green. This will check if there is communication. 9. Click on READ DATA icon. While reading, a window will appear indicating that there is an update needed. 10. Choose "YES". NOTE: You are about to start reflashing and it takes about 2 minutes. Make sure you have stable voltage (12V) before starting update. Although screen ''freezes'' for a while, you must remain on the B.U.D.S.. The update still continue. It is important to never disconnect any cable while updating ECM. 11. Click "OK" after the message: UPDATE HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY TRANSFERRED INTO ECM. An automatic "Read Data" will be done. 12. Check if updates are successfully done by selecting "Module" and viewing "Information" under BRP Assembly Number Click on Close. 14. Go to the Vehicle page of B.U.D.S Click on Reset Service Info. 16. Click on the WRITE DATA icon. 17. Click YES to confirm. 18. Make sure warm engine operates normally through its full RPM range.
