3 Audio Display Audio information is shown in the center display. Non-navigation display Navigation display Note: With headlights on, the instrument panel brightness buttons can be used to adjust audio illumination. Selector Knob/Interface Dial Most audio system functions can be controlled by standard controls. You can access some audio and navigation functions by using the selector knob/interface dial on the audio system. Press ENTER to select an item. Selector Knob Interface Dial Interface Dial (navigation) The dial consists of: KNOB: Turns left and right to scroll through the display items and adjust the levels. SELECTOR (ENTER): Use to select items. Audio Controls Volume/Power knob: Push to turn the power on and off. Turn to adjust the volume. Audio Button (navi): Press to see the audio display on the navigation screen. Tune (non-navi): Turn the selector knob to tune to the desired radio or XM station. TUNE bar (navi): Changes the radio or XM station. AM/FM button: Selects AM, FM1, or FM2. XM button: Selects XM1 or XM2. Preset Buttons: Selects the desired station stored in a band (AM/FM1/ FM2/XM1/XM2). To store a station: Press and hold the desired preset button until you hear a beep, then release. SKIP bar: Seeks upward (<<I) or downward (I;; ) to find the next station with a strong signal. SCAN button/bar: Samples all stations with strong signals on the selected band. AUX button (non-navi): Selects an attached USB flash memory device or ipod. HDD/AUX button (navi): Selects the Hard Disc Drive or an attached USB flash memory device or ipod. Category bar: Press either side (= or >) of the CATEGORY bar to display an RDS category in the center display.
4 Sound Adjustment Sound level adjustment is accessed by pressing the SOUND button on navi models. On non-navi models, the selector knob can be used. For these models, do this: 1. Press and release the MENU button. 2. Turn the selector knob to move to any of these settings: BASS TREBLE FADER BALANCE SUBW (EXL only) SVC CLOCK ADJUST (on 6- CD system, this is accessed by the MENU button). 3. Press the selector knob to choose the desired setting. 4. Turn the selector knob to adjust the setting up or down. 5. Press MENU to return to the original display. Using the Remote Audio Controls VOL buttons: Adjusts the volume. MODE button: Changes the system to the next mode: AM/FM1/FM2/CD/ XM1/XM2. CH buttons Radio: Press and release to change to the next or previous preset station. Press and hold until you hear a beep. The next station (+ or -) is selected. CD: Skips to the beginning of the next track or the start of the current track. Radio Data System (RDS)* When an RDS radio station is selected, the station frequency and name are displayed. Otherwise, only the frequency is displayed. RDS Info Display: When selected, the name of the selected RDS station is displayed. To turn ON or OFF, press and release the TITLE button. RDS INFO ON or RDS INFO OFF appears in the display. When either FM band is selected, RDS program category can be selected, using either side (= or >) of the CATEGORY bar to display and select an RDS group. See the owner s manual for the principle RDS categories. RDS Search: Press and release either side of the SKIP bar to search up and down for the next RDS station in your selected category with a strong signal. If ALL is selected, all RDS stations will be searched. RDS SCAN: Press and release the SCAN button to sample all available RDS stations in your selected RDS category. If ALL is selected, all available RDS stations will be scanned. Press the button again when a desired station is reached. Note: RDS Search and SCAN features function with the RDS Info display on or off. Tip: The Selector Knob/Interface Dial can also be used with RDS. See your owner s manual for instructions.
5 Disc Player Controls Note: Files in MP3/WMA mode are the equivalent of tracks in CD mode. Tip: Most audio controls, including CD controls, can also be accessed using the Selector Knob/ Interface Dial. CD button or Disc button: Selects the disc player. The system will begin playing the last selected track in the disc. You will see the current track position highlighted. Load button (non-navi): Loads the disc. Eject button (non-navi): Ejects the disc. Load/Eject button (navi): Loads or ejects the disc currently selected. SKIP bar: Press and release <<I to skip forward to the next track, or I;; to skip backward to the beginning of the current track. Press and hold either side to move rapidly within a track. SCAN button or SCAN/A.SEL bar: Press and release to hear 10-second samples of each track/file in recorded order. Folder scan (MP3, WMA Mode**): Press and release the SCAN button repeatedly to sample 10 seconds of the first file of each folder. ** Also ACC mode on navi models. CATEGORY bar (MP3, WMA Mode): Press (=) to skip to the beginning of the next folder, or (>) to skip to the beginning of the previous folder. Changing the Folders (MP3/WMA** mode): You can also select a folder within the disc by pressing either side of the category bar. Each time you press either side of the bar, the folder title and its first file's information appear on the center display and on the navigation screen (if equipped) in hierarchical order. TITLE Button (navi): Each time you press the button, the center display changes from artist name, to album name, to track name, and then to normal display that shows the track number and the elapsed time. When playing a disc in MP3/WMA**, the display mode changes from folder name, to file name, to artist tag, to album tag, to track tag, and then to normal display. Preset Buttons (navi): Press the preset button that corresponds to the disc you want to play.
6 Playing a Disc To load a single CD in the player: Insert a CD halfway into the CD slot. The drive pulls it in the rest of the way. It takes a few seconds for the CD to load. To remove a CD: 1. Press the LOAD/EJECT button. 2. Remove the CD as it comes out. To load multiple CDs in the 6-CD changer in one operation (non-navi): 1. Press and hold the LOAD button until the system beeps and you see NO DISC in the display. 2. Insert a CD into CD slot. 3. When NO DISC is displayed again, insert the next CD. 4. Repeat until all six positions are loaded. Tip: If you are not loading CDs into all six positions, press the CD button after the last CD is loaded, or wait 10 seconds and the system stops the load operation. To remove multiple CDs in the 6-CD changer: 1. Press and hold the EJECT button until system beeps. 2. Remove the CDs as they come out. Speed-sensitive Volume Compensation (SVC) Controls the volume based on vehicle speed. The faster you go, the louder the audio volume becomes. As you slow down, the audio volume decreases. The SVC has four modes: SVC OFF, SVC LOW, SVC MID, and SVC HIGH. The default setting is MID. To change the SVC mode: 1. Push the Selector Knob/Interface Dial down, turn the knob to Sound Setup and press Enter. 2. Turn the Selector Knob/Interface Knob to select SVC, then press ENTER. The current setting is shown on the screen. 3. Turn the Selector Knob/Interface Knob to the desired level, and enter your selection by pressing ENTER. * Check the owner s manual for additional information and instructions.
