PREMIUM SONGS MUSIC PLAYBACK MODES The ARION jukebox has different playback modes: To activate any of the Music Playback modes, turn the jukebox ON. For more information on how to configure the Music Playback Modes, see chapter on General Configuration. Normal Mode 36

Customers may access this normal mode of Music Playback by inserting money in the jukebox. The jukebox is in Normal Mode when there is no heading on the upper right corner of the screen. Free Mode This mode does not require any credit. The customer selects the music of his choice without having to insert any money in the jukebox. This mode is configured in the Service and Maintenance menu. The list of songs in a queue will be cleared when the jukebox is turned off in the Free Playback mode. DETECTING THE ACTIVATION OF THE FREE PLAYBACK MODE a) A Free Mode message will appear on the upper right corner of the screen which means that there is an unlimited and unrestricted number of credits for the customer to choose from during all the time this mode is activated. b) Deactivate the Free Mode from the Service and Maintenance Mode. c) If the customer inserts coins in the ARION jukebox, the counters will register this deposit and the jukebox will continue to play the songs according to the already existing queue. On the other hand, if the activation time of this mode should end and the customer s song is still in queue, the system will NOT take the queue into consideration. Automatic Mode This mode is used to attract the customers attention when there is no music playing or no songs have been selected. If nobody has inserted money or selected a song, the jukebox will automatically play a song at a given time. This mode is configured in the Service and Maintenance Mode. 37

The customers selection shall prevail over this mode since the jukebox can detect the insertion of money and goes back to the normal mode and plays the song that has just been selected immediately. The titles of the songs available will appear on the right side of the screen when you press on the title you have selected 7. A confirmation message will appear then press the Play button. 8. Continue to select songs until you don t have any more credits. PLAY MY SONG FIRST The jukebox has a special function that allows a song to be played even though there are more songs in the wait list. This feature is configured in the Service and Maintenance Mode and is available to the customer for an additional charge (Service and Maintenance: Premium Features ). 38

If the feature Play My Song First has been configured in the control panel the message Play Now will appear on the screen when the customer selects a song. This song will be played before any other song in the wait list. If the customer accepts to hear this song immediately there will be an extra charge. (This additional charge can be configured in Service and Maintenance). QUICK ARTIST SEARCH The jukebox is equipped with a title quick search system. This system scrolls through the catalog by blocks of pages, in alphabetical order of the names of all the artists present in the audio, video, karaoke catalog or through a music genre without the need to check one page at a time. To use this quick search system, go to the bottom of the screen, click, hold and move the alphabetical search arrow to the right or left to scroll through the names of artists located at the bottom of the screen. 39

When you have reached the first letter of the artist s name or genre block you were looking for, release the arrow and the page of the artist you were looking for will appear automatically on the screen. For example: to look for EL TRI artist, click and hold the arrow and scroll until the graphic indicator comes to letter E. Release the arrow and the system will locate the first page of the artists whose name starts with an E. Then you scroll normally through the pages until reaching El TRI s albums. You can also click directly on the first letter of the artist s name and the system will show a list of artists whose names start with that letter. For example: Click on letter E and the system will show the list of artists whose names start with an E. 40.

SEARCH OPTION The jukebox has an artist, album or song search system. Click on SEARCH and a keyboard will appear on the screen which allows you to enter, for example, the name of the artist. As you are writing the artist s name, the system is searching and, at the end of the search, the pages of the albums corresponding to the letters entered on the keyboard will appear on the screen: GENRE SEARCH Click on Genres and the catalog starts ordering itself by music genres and allows the search according to the same. A vertical list with the names of the different genres will appear on the screen as you go forward or backward using the arrows to go up and down. Select a genre, click on the name of the genre you have selected and the albums classified by genres will appear on the screen. To go back to all the albums classified by artist names, click on All or Artist. 41

EXPRESS CATALOG TITLES Besides the normal catalog from which the customer can select songs, there is another music catalog called Express Catalog that lists an express song category that contains usually more songs than the regular catalog. Generally, this catalog offers the most recent songs. This distinctive icon attract the patron s attention. appears while the album is unfolding to 42

This catalog allows the user to request the immediate delivery of one or several songs to the jukebox. The purpose of this catalog is to play songs that were not available until then in the music catalog or the current repertoire of the jukebox. These songs are also part of a special category and as such, the user pays a higher price for them. The titles in the Express Catalog may or may not be available to the customer depending on the configuration of the service mode. Likewise, the price charged for these songs and the type and number of songs shown here depends on the configuration of Premium Features in the Service Mode. When the customer selects and plays a song from the Express Catalog, at that moment, this song is transmitted as a special privilege and is inserted in the selection of the wait list. 43

NEW TITLES The jukebox has an option to unfold New Titles. These titles are songs, videos or karaoke recently inserted into the jukebox. A distinctive icon appears while the album is unfolding to attract the patron s attention The following screen allows configuring the number of days songs will appear as new songs in the catalog as of the date of their insertion in the catalog, provided the Activate the New Song Catalog option is activated. 44

The following screen displays how the New tab is presented in the Music Catalog. The New catalog shows all the titles inserted in the last ten days according to the configuration shown on the previous screen. 45

Users are those who are allowed to use the ARION jukebox Service and Maintenance Mode. Every user has faculties that allow him or not to modify the options within the ARION jukebox Service and Maintenance Mode The Owner, that is, the person who has access to all the modules of the jukebox, defines the restrictions imposed to each user. The Owner User must access the Service and Maintenance Mode for the first time by entering the following data: a) User s number 1 b) User s code (no code) c) Click on Accept. 107 MUSIC UPGRADE This chapter provides information in regards to how the operator can update the jukebox music catalog. If you have any doubts, comments and/or suggestions in regards to the music content, acquired music service codes, payment notifications and everything related to music update, please contact our Operation Service Center (OSC) at in Tlaquepaque, Jal., México MUSIC CONTENT Local Catalog Each jukebox has a local catalog which is a collection of songs available to the customers for selection and playback. The local catalog is unique to each jukebox. It is the catalog displayed to the customers. The ARION jukebox has a music catalog available from manufacturer, i.e., the jukebox includes a number of songs. The operator has the authorization to play these songs included from manufacturer for a limited period of time until these songs are willingly deleted from the local catalog. Moreover, the operator may update this song catalog by deleting the songs he does not want anymore and/or by adding new ones. Global Catalog This global catalog contains all the music the operator may choose from to include new songs into each one of his jukeboxes. To receive new songs, the operator selects those he wants from the global catalog. The music from the global catalog can be transferred to other jukeboxes by different external devices. 107

UPGRADING SCHEME Authorizations are needed to include or play new music in the local catalog, (Music Service Code). Such authorizations are determined by the update outline agreed upon by the operator with the Operation Service Center (OSC), for example, an unlimited number of songs for a monthly or annual fee. The Operation Service Center (OSC) issues and distributes these authorizations in accordance with the update outlines Each owner of an ARION jukebox must request the authorizations from the OSC and indicate the update outline agreed upon. The update outline is unique to each jukebox and no authorization, music service code or song may be transferred from one jukebox to another MUSIC UPDATE PREREQUISITES The owner of an ARION jukebox must have an update outline to receive the global catalog and other information. This update outline is described in the contract executed between the operator and the Operation Service Center (OSC) and specifies the way the operator agreed to update the music content. Sufficient space is needed in the ARION jukebox to store new songs. CATALOG UPDATE USING CCA DISC Use the music update to include new songs in the catalog available and displayed to the end customers. This is done through the Import Content option in the jukebox Service and Maintenance menu. This alternative music update system was developed by ATR and requires a content disc (CCA Disc which is a music content disc with a format recognized by the system) that allows: Massive music update to meet the needs of an establishment (by direct and quick personalization of all the jukebox music content) 108

Add specific songs of a catalog of approximately 100,000 songs, (this number depends on the CCA capacity and if it has or not videos/karaoke), i.e., new songs are selected from a list to be included in the jukebox. See the General Configuration section, music content option (Song Administrator) on how to operate the Import Songs option This feature requires having the Music Availability Service. To order these services or to have more information on the same, call our ATR Operation Area to receive a password with a limited usage validity date. Every jukebox can use only one password for these services. MUSIC TRANSMISSION AND ACTIVATION (For manual as well as automatic music update) 1. The Operation Service Center (OSC) provides music by using external devices connected to the jukebox and concentrates the music to be played as requested by the operator or according to the songs suggested by the OSC, in the case of automatic update. 2. The ARION jukeboxes receive the music requested and store it in their local catalogs. The jukebox will only carry the songs selected by the operator. 3. The songs are available for selection and playback in the jukebox. The jukebox system detects if there is an authorization (code for music services) to activate the songs received. The authorization depends on the outline agreed upon by the operator. Activating the songs means to make them available in the jukebox for selection and playback. The order in which the new songs are presented in the local catalog follows the order in which they were received and activated. If you need to check the number of songs that have been received and activated from the first day of the jukebox operation, go to the Service and Maintenance Mode, enter the Report menu and select the following options: Music Playbacks, From the Start, Counters. 109

The jukebox does not play songs that were selected more than once. The songs do not play according to the queue list.. Some songs cut off before ending. Possible Causes /Solution Options The Keep Credits function is activated. This function keeps the songs and the credits that were in queue when the jukebox was disconnected or there was a blackout.. The Screen Protector function is activated. (To deactivate, click on any key or insert money). The Automatic Playback function is activated. The Free Playback function is activated. It indicates that this song is a new arrival. The days a song is considered new is configured in the Service and Maintenance Mode. The Thank You message is activated. The Over Play function is activated therefore the jukebox does not repeat the same songs twice. Some songs are programmed as favorite. These songs take precedence over the other songs of the playlist, i.e., they are played first. The duration of the songs was limited. 141

ERROR CODE AND BILL ACCEPTOR FRONT LED STATUS There is a blue arrow in front of the bill acceptor but it could also be flashing in three colors: blue, red and green. This light indicates that the bill acceptor is ready to receive bills. If this light is constantly red, it means that there something wrong with the bill acceptor. In such a case, check the error codes here below and check the number of flashes it gives out in the front arrow as well as in the back led. 142

COIN/BILL ACCEPTOR AND FUNDS COLLECTION This chapter gives information on how to service, replace and configure the coin/bill acceptors as well as how to remove the funds deposited in the jukebox. REMOVING THE COINS To remove the coins from your ARION jukebox, follow these instructions: 1. Open the side door of the jukebox. 2. The coin box is located on the side. 3. Remove the box from the main cabinet. REMOVING THE BILLS FROM THE BILL ACCEPTOR Not all ARION jukeboxes have bill acceptors. This depends on the configuration of your jukebox. If your jukebox has a bill acceptor, follow these instructions: 1. Open the door of the jukebox. 2. Locate the bill acceptor 144

TAO Bill Acceptor: Turn the knob to open the lid of the bill stacker and remove the bills, or remove the bill stacker from the bill acceptor by clicking on the lock to release the bill stacker. 3. Place the bill stacker in the bill acceptor by first positioning the bottom part and then the upper part, pushing upward until the lock is activated. You will hear a click when the stacker is properly fastened 4. Close the jukebox. INSTALLING/REPLACING THE ELECTRONIC COIN ACCEPTOR Follow these instructions to dismount the electronic coin acceptor: 1. Open the door of the jukebox. The electronic coin acceptor is in the front. 2. Remove the screws that fasten the coin acceptor to the jukebox cabinet. 3. Carefully remove the coin acceptor 145

MAINTENANCE OF THE BILL ACCEPTOR Installation of the Electronic Coin Acceptor To avoid the risk of electric shock, make sure to disconnect the power cable that connects the bill acceptor to the main power switch. 146

This section of the manual describes the cleaning routine for the optic sensors of the bill acceptor. Dust, dirt, grease residues and particles may accumulate in this area according to the location of the jukebox and the condition of the bills being validated. The optic sensors are located in a dismountable device in the upper section of the bill acceptor. To remove this device, press on the side clamps and pull it out. 1) To remove dust and/or accumulated particles from the optic sensors, use a dry and soft cloth. Replace the device pushing it until secured. You will hear a click when the device is back into the proper position. To avoid personal injuries be careful when working close to the anti-fraud spikes in the bill acceptor. These spikes are extremely sharp. 2) We recommend cleaning the bill acceptor at least once every two months. 3) Use soapy lukewarm water to clean drinks and liquids spills on or inside the bill acceptor. 147

4). Clean the external surfaces with a cloth. 5) Dismount the bill acceptor to clean its internal surfaces and mechanisms. Use a spray to direct the water where needed. 6) Wash the contaminants stuck to the bill acceptor. DO NOT wet the integrated circuits and the printed circuit card. 7) Dry the bill acceptor thoroughly before putting it back into place. DO NOT USE spray cleaning agents, petrol-based solvents and strong aromatic solvents since they may damage the rubber and plastic parts, the surface of the sensors and the finish of the bill acceptor. Using these chemical agents may put your health and the environment at risk and may start a fire. DO NOT lubricate the bill acceptor. Grease or oil attracts dust, smoke, etc. which interferes with the proper operation of the bill acceptor. Replace all damaged mechanisms. INSPECTING AND CLEANING THE DRIVE BELTS The bill drive system in the bill acceptor consists of a small engine in a container. This engine activates a dented pulley on both sides of the bill passage. Each dented pulley activates a drive belt that causes a friction against some idler pulleys located at the base of the coin acceptor. When a bill is inserted in the bill acceptor, the bill is trapped and pulled in by the drive belts. Clean al the dust and dirt that may accumulate on the drive belts with a damp cloth. 148

INSPECTING AND CLEANING THE OPTIC SENSORS The bill acceptor includes two optic sensor systems. The following images show where the sensors are located in the sensor plates. 149

Use a dry cotton cloth to clean the optic sensors. Repeat the cleaning process until the surface of the sensors is free of pollutants. Remember to clean both sides of the sensors from top to bottom. CLEANING THE COIN ACCEPTOR Electronic Coin Acceptor Clean the plastic cover where the coins go through regularly to ensure the proper validation of the coins. Use a damp cotton cloth only. DO NOT USE any solvent, detergent, soap or any other type of agent that produces foam. Make sure that the coin acceptor is completely dry before reinstalling it into the jukebox. a) Disconnect the cable of the coin acceptor. b) Remove the coin acceptor from the plastic support. 150

c) Open the door of the coin acceptor and clean it with a damp cotton cloth. Make sure to eliminate all the dust and dirt present. d) Dry the coin acceptor thoroughly before reinstalling it in the jukebox. e) Connect the cable of the coin acceptor and test if it works. 151

The following features are available in 6.5. or later versions exclusively. REPRODUCTION MODES Here are some details on how to activate the playback modes: o One at a time Mono zone o One at a time Multi zone o Simultaneous Playback One at a time Mono zone To activate this mode, select option Audio within the Service and Maintenance Mode and click on the Playback tab. Your jukebox has been configured by default with the Arion standard playback mode which consists in playing one song at a time at the same volume level everywhere in the 152

whole establishment even though the sound has been divided into different sections or Zones. One at a time Multi zone To activate this mode, select the Audio option within the Service and Maintenance mode and click on the playback tab. This playback mode consists in playing one song at a time in all the Zones of the establishment each at its own volume. You can set up up to 8 zones (if device supports it). You can rename each zone at your convenience and the volume levels will be maintained between sessions; likewise, each zone can have maximum and minimum volumes. 153

By using your remote control, you can increase or decrease the volume in a selected zone or, by selecting all the zones, you can increase /decrease the volume in all the establishment at the same time. Simultaneous Playback To activate this mode, select the Audio option within the Service and Maintenance mode and click on the play tab. This playback mode allows livening up an establishment that has been divided in several zones by playing different songs at the same time and each song at its own volume level. You can set up up to 8 zones (if device supports it). 154

The volume levels may have Maximum and Minimum limits for each zone; likewise, with your remote control, you can increase/decrease the volume in the selected zone or if you select all the zones you can increase or decrease the volume for each song of any active zone. By using your remote control, you can select a zone and cancel the song being played while the other songs continue to be played in the other zones without being affected or, if you prefer, you can cancel all the songs in all the zones. There is a song queue for each zone. 155

EQUALIZER Here is an explanation on how to configure the digital equalizer. The selected equalization applies according to the active playback modes: One at a time Mono zone: The equalization applies to the existing zone only. One at a time Multi zone: The equalization applies to all the active zones. 156

Simultaneous Play: You can program an equalization for each active zone. Pre-established Values. This option gives a list of pre-established equalization settings, therefore you only have to select one of them and the changes of equalization will appear in a few seconds. 157

Custom Values. Personalize your equalization by adjusting the frequency controls directly from the screen. Your jukebox also has the Join Controls option to help you modify the frequencies adjoining to the selected control. Store Custom equalizations by clicking on the Accept button below the equalizer button. This configuration is maintained between sessions. 158
