2 Welcome... to your new Motorola CT111I Corded Telephone and Digital Answering Machine! Answering machine with Micro SD card capacity of 8GB (included), the recording time of up to 540 hours. Supports Micro SD card capacity up to 32GB (not included), the recording time of up to 2200 hours. 1 Voice memo message facility. Redial the last number dialled at a touch of one button. Redial at least 10 dialled numbers for easy dialling. Facility to block up to 20 phone numbers. Automatically record incall conversations. Ringer and hands-free volume control. Hands-free dialling. Time, date and alarm facility. Caller ID shows you the number of who is calling and stores the number of at least the last 40 callers (16 digits) in the received and missed calls lists. 2 Call Timer the display will automatically time the duration of all external calls. 6 1. Getting started IMPORTANT Do not place your CT111I in the bathroom or other humid areas. Location You need to place your CT111I base within 2 metres of the telephone and power socket so that the cable will reach. The socket-outlet should be installed near the equipment and should be easily accessible. Connecting the handset and base 1. Plug one end of the handset curly cord into the socket on the side of the base and the other end into the socket at the bottom of the handset. 2. Plug the line cord into the socket marked on the back of the base unit. 3. Plug the power adaptor into the socket marked on the underside of the base and plug the other end into the mains power wall socket. Switch on the mains power. Installing and using the Micro SD card A Micro SD card reader The CT111I supports an Micro SD card, as the card is very small please be careful when inserting and removing to avoid damage. Press and release the card to remove it. Unplug the power adaptor from the base before removing or inserting the Micro SD card. The CT111I recording functions will only work if the Micro SD card is installed. A 6 Getting started

Setting the date and time If you have subscribed to a FSK type Caller ID Service, the date and time can set automatically when you receive your first call. If you do not have a FSK Caller ID service, you can set the date and time manually. 1. Press s and then press the number key The last two digits of the year flashes, using the keypad to enter the year, month, day, hour and minute, the time is set to 24 hour mode. During setup lift the handset and then place it back on the base to return to standby or press h twice to return to standby. 3. Once setup is complete, press h twice to return to standby. Press * or # to scroll up and down through the set up menu. 4. To return to standby, press h twice or lift the handset and replace on the base. 5. 12 3. Using the phone 3.1 Calls Make a call Lift the handset, when you hear the dial tone, dial the number Pre-dial 1. Enter the phone number (maximum 32 digits). If you make a mistake press X. 2. Press h to dial the phone number entered over hands-free. 3. Lift the handset to talk on the handset End a call 1. Place the handset back on the base. Or 2. Press the h to end a hands-free call Receive a call 1. Lift the handset or press h to answer the call. NOTE If during a call you want to activate hands-free, press h and hang up the handset. You can adjust the volume of a hands-free during the call, press H, there are 2 levels to choose from. 3.2 Last number redial The last entry dialled is stored in the phone; this can be up to 32 digits long. 1. 13 4. Micro SD Card 4.1 Inserting the Micro SD card The CT111I supports an Micro SD card, as the card is very small please be careful when inserting and removing to avoid damage. Press and release the card to remove it. Unplug the power adaptor from the base before removing or inserting the Micro SD card. The CT111I recording functions will only work if the Micro SD card is installed. 1. Insert the Micro SD card and the LCD displays Sd CArd InIt, if the Micro SD card can be read the LCD displays Sd Card Ok and will be highlighted on the LCD. 2. If the Micro SD card is new, after inserting the below folders will be created automatically. incoming caller message voice alarm clock conversation recording OGM. 3. Music you want to play can be directly copy to the Micro SD card. NOTE The CT111C only recognizes.mp3 and.wma music files. There will also be a Recording Message Administration Tool in the root directory of the Micro SD card, this allows you to check the recording number and the date and time of the messages. To avoid accidently losing this tool, it is recommended that the Recording Message Administration Tool is backed up to a computer. Micro SD Card 13

14 5. Date and Time If you have subscribed to a FSK type Caller ID Service, the date and time can set automatically when you receive your first call. If you do not have a FSK Caller ID service, you can set the date and time manually. 5.1 Setting the date and time 1. Press s and then press the number key The last two digits of the year flashes, using the keypad to enter the year, month, day, hour and minute, the time is set to 24 hour mode. 3. 15 6. Area code You can set your local area code into the phone. When a number from that area code calls only the local number will be displayed and stored. The area code can be up to 5 digits. 6.1 To store the area code 1. Press s. 2. Press 2, the display shows ArEA When first - is flashing enter the number using the keypad. 4. Press h twice to return to standby. 6.2 To delete the area code 1. Press s. 2. Press 2, the display shows ArEA and the current code. 3. Press * to delete the area code. 4. 16 7. PABX access code If the CT111I is connected to a switchboard, you may need to enter a one-digit access code in the dialling sequence to be able to connect to the outside line. The access code will be displayed at the beginning of a number on the screen. 7.1 To store the PABX access code 1. Press s. 2. Press 3, the display shows OCOdE. 3. Using the keypad enter the access code number. 4. Press h twice to return to standby. 7.2 Delete the PABX access code 1. Press s. 2. Press 3, the display shows OCOdE X. 3. Press * to delete the current PABX code. 4. Press h twice to return to standby. 7.3 Turn the PABX access code filter on / off When the filter is on and the CT111I receives a call form a number including the access code, this code can be filtered by the CT111I. When the filter is off the PABX access code will be ignored and if that number is in the blocked calls list with the access code in front of the number it will be treated as a blocked call. The default setting is off. 1. Press and hold 0 for 3 seconds to enter the Filter setting mode. 2. Press 0 to turn on / off. NOTE It is recommended this feature is set to off unless you are receiving calls from switchboard users that include the access code with the phone number. 16 PABX access code

17 8. Alarm The CT111I has the option of 3 alarms, all alarms once set will sound every day unless turned off. 8.1 To set the alarm 1. Press s. 2. Press 4, the display shows AL Using the keypad select the alarm you require e.g 1 for alarm The display shows AL 1 OFF. 5. Press * key to switch the alarm on. 6. LCD displays AL , using the keypad store the required alarm time (the alarm time is 24 hours format) and press s. Either 7. If there is no voice recording the display will show rin9 1 and a beep will be heard for 3 seconds. 8. To record your own recording, when the beeping stops, press #, start to record you own alarm voice, the max. length is 10 seconds, after 10 seconds it will automatically stop and play back you voice (or you can press s to stop the recording). You can also load recordings into the voice alarm clock folder on the Micro SD card, but to use these for the alarm ringtone they must be WAV. format. Each alarm can have a different voice recording. Or 1. If there is a voice recording, the current setting will be displayed press * or # to select rin9 1 or rin9 rec. 2. When rin9 rec is selected the recording will play. To delete the recording either press X and then s, or press X twice during playback and the beep will be heard at the alarm time. 3. Press h twice to return to standby. 8.2 To switch the alarm off 1. Press s. 2. Press 4, the display shows AL Using the keypad select the alarm you want to turn off e.g 1 for alarm The display shows AL 1 and the alarm time. 5. Press * key to switch the alarm off. 6. 18 9. Ringtone The CT111I has one pre recorded ringtone or you can select from music stored to the Micro SD card. 9.1 To set the ringtone 1. Press s. 2. Press 5, the display shows rin9 and the number of the current ringtone selected. A sample of the ringtone is played. 3. Press * or # to scroll to the required ringtone or off. A sample of the ringtone is played. 4. Press h twice to return to standby. 9.2 To adjust the ringer volume You can adjust the volume of the ring tone, choose from levels When the handset is on the base press H,the display shows rin9vol and the current volume Keep pressing H,until you get to the required volume. 18 Ringtone

19 10. Flash time Depending on your country and network operator, your phone has the flash time set as 1000 ms. It is unlikely that you need to change this setting unless advised to do so. Your CT111I can be set to 100/300/600ms To change your flash time setting 1. Press s. 2. Press 6, the display shows the current setting. 3. Press * or # to the setting you require. 4. 21 12. Play recording password You can set a password on your CT111I, once set this will need to be entered before recordings can be played back To set the play recording password 1. Press s. 2. Press 8, the display shows PASS _. 3. Using the keypad enter the password and press s. 4. Enter the password again and press s To delete the play recording password 1. Press s. 2. Press 8, the display shows PASS _. 3. Enter the password and press s. 4. Press s twice to delete the password. NOTE If you forget the password, using the keypad enter *, #, 0, 1, #, r, the password will be cancelled. Play recording password 21

Calls list and redial list If you have subscribed to a Caller ID service, and provided the identity of the caller is not withheld, the number of the caller will be displayed, together with the date and time of the call (if provided by the network). When the list is full and a new call is received, the oldest entry will be deleted automatically. You can store up to 40 numbers in the calls list and each number can be up to 16 digits long. NOTE If you receive a private call ---P--- will show on the display. If you receive an out of area call ---O--- will show on the display. If you receive an error call ---E--- will show on the display Enter the calls list 1. Press c to enter the Calls list. 2. Press * or # to scroll through the numbers and date and time of the calls. 3. If no numbers are stored or when you reach the end of the list, the screen will display Enter the redial list The last 10 entries dialled are stored in the phone; these can be up to 16 digits long. 1. Press r to enter the Redial list. 2. Press * or # to scroll through the numbers and duration time of the calls. 3. If no numbers are stored or when you reach the end of the list, the screen will display Dial a number from the calls list or redial list 1. Press c to enter the Calls list or r to enter the Redial list. 2. Press * or # to scroll to the number you want to dial and lift the handset or press h to automatically dial the number Delete a number from the calls list or redial list 1. Press c to enter the Calls list or r to enter the Redial list. 2. Press * or # to scroll to the number you want to delete and press X twice. 3. The number is deleted Delete all numbers from the calls list or redial list 1. Press c to enter the Calls list or r to enter the Redial list. 2. Press and hold X for 3 seconds. 3. 23 14. Blocked calls list When you receive a call from a number stored in the Blocked calls list the phone will not ring and the caller will not be able to leave a message. Up to 20 numbers can be stored in the list Store a number in the Blocked calls list 1. Press s. 2. Press 0, _ flashes on the display. 3. Using the keypad enter the number you want to block. Press X to delete an incorrect digit. 4. Press # to save and enter the next number you want to block Delete a number stored in the Blocked calls list 1. Press s. 2. Press 0, the first blocked number in the list is displayed. 3. Scroll * to the number you want to delete and keep pressing X to delete the number. 4. Press # to confirm. NOTE If the PABX access code is set to on and the filter is set to off, when a Blocked calls list number calls with the access code in front of the number it will be treated as a Blocked calls listed number. Answering machine, recorded conversations and memos You can set you CT111I to answer a call and record an ICM (incoming message), this feature can be turned on and off and you can set it to answer between 3 and 9 rings. You can also record a conversation or memo, the length the recording depends on the space left in the memory Answer machine Answer delay and answer machine off 1. Press s. 2. Press 9, to enter the answer delay menu. 3. Scroll * or # to select the setting you require between 3 and 9 rings or 0 rings. 4. If you select 0 rings then the answer machine will be off Play and delete answer machine message 1. Press / to play the answer machine messages, the most recent message will play firsts. 2. During playback, press 1 or 3 to skip backwards and forwards through messages. Press X twice to delete the message being played Record your own OGM The CT111I has a pre recorded OGM or you can record your own personalised message. 1. Press and hold O, after the tone record your message. 2. Press O to stop the recording Play the current OGM 1. Press O to play the current OGM. If you have set up a password to play recordings you will need to enter the password and then press s to play the OGM Delete you personalised OGM 1. Press O to play the personalised OGM. 2. During playback press X twice to delete it. 3. The answer machine will automatically revert back to using the pre recorded OGM. 25 15.2 Recording conversations and memos Automatically record a conversation The CT111I can record the conversation automatically when a call comes in or when making an outgoing call. 1. In standby mode press and hold 9 to turn on automatic recording, the display shows rec On. 2. Press 9 again to turn it off and the display shows rec OFF Record a conversation manually During a call with an external caller the CT111I can record the conversation. 1. During a call press <, the display will show the length of the recording. 2. To end recording press < Record a memo You can record a memo which is stored on your CT111I and can be played back. 1. In standby mode press <, the display will show the length of the recording. 2. To end recording press <. NOTE The recording time is limited, once the memory is full the CT111I will stop recording Play and delete recorded conversations and memos 1. Press > to play the recordings, the latest recording will play first. 2. During playback press X twice to delete that recording. 3. 26 16. Search recordings There are three ways to search recordings: serial number search, phone number search or date search To chose the search criteria and play recordings 1. Press S to enter. Conversation recording, ICM (Incoming message) and Memo are displayed on the LCD. 2. Keep pressing S to choose either serial number search, phone number search or date search To search for recorded conversations or memos by serial number 1. Press S. 2. Using the keypad enter the serial number of the recording you wish to play and press >, that recording will play back To search for ICM by serial number 1. Press S. 2. Using the keypad enter the serial number of the ICM you wish to play and press /, that ICM will play back To search for recorded conversations by phone number 1. Press S twice. 2. Using the keypad enter the phone number and press >, the recordings from that number will play back To search for ICM by number 1. Press S twice. 2. Using the keypad enter the phone number and press /, all the ICMs from that number will play back To search for recorded conversations or memos by date 1. Press S three times. 2. Using the keypad enter the date of the messages you wish to play and press >, all recordings from that date will play back To search for ICM by date 1. Press S three times. 2. 27 17. Help No dial tone Use only the telephone line cord supplied. Check that the telephone line cord is connected properly. Check that the mains power is connected properly and switched on. No display Reset the base by and disconnecting the mains power. Wait for around 15 seconds before connecting it again. Check that the mains power is connected properly and switched on. No Caller ID Check your subscription with your network operator. The caller may have withheld their number. Base does not ring The base ringer may be set to off. Will not record Make sure the Micro SD card is inserted correctly. The Micro SD card may be full, delete stored messages /recorded conversations. Help 27

28 18. General information IMPORTANT This product is intended for connection to analogue public switched telephone networks and private switchboards within India. Important safety instructions Follow these safety precautions when using your phone to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons or property: Keep all slits and openings of the phone unblocked. Do not set the phone on a heating register or over a radiator. Ensure that proper ventilation is provided at the installation site. Do not use while wet or while standing in water. Do not use this product near water (for example, near a bath tub, kitchen sink, or swimming pool). Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Place the power cord so that it will not be walked on. Never insert objects of any kind into the product vents as that may result in fire or electric shock. Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. Do not disassemble this product. If service or repair work is required, contact the customer service helpline found in this user s Guide. Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords. Avoid using during an electrical storm. Use a surge protector to protect the equipment. Do not use this phone to report a gas leak, especially if you are in the vicinity of the gas line. IMPORTANT To reduce the risk of fire, use only the supplied power adaptor. Unplug this phone immediately from an outlet if: The power cord or plug is damaged or frayed. Liquid has been spilled on the product. The product has been exposed to rain or water. Do not retrieve the handset or base until after you have unplugged the power and phone from the wall. Then retrieve the unit by the unplugged cords. The product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged. The product exhibits a distinct change in performance. Installation Guidelines Read and understand all instructions and save them for future reference. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product. Do not install this product near a bath tub, sink, or shower. Operate this phone using only the power source that is indicated on the marking label. 29 Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table. This product may fall, causing serious damage to the product. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions. Improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work to restore the product to normal operation. Clean this product with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use chemicals or cleaning agents to clean this phone. Use only the power supply that came with this unit. Using other power supplies may damage the unit. Because this phone operates on electricity, you should have at least one phone in your home that could operate without electricity in the case the power in your home goes out. To avoid interference to nearby appliances, do not place the base of the phone on or near a TV, microwave oven, or VCR. Cleaning Clean the phone with a damp (not wet) cloth, or an anti-static wipe. Never use household polish as this will damage the product. Never use a dry cloth as this may cause static shock. Environmental Do not expose to direct sunlight. Do not place your product on carpets or other surfaces which generate fibres, or place it in locations preventing the free flow of air over its surfaces. Do not submerge any part of your product in water and do not use it in damp or humid conditions, such as bathrooms. Do not expose your product to fire, explosives or other hazardous conditions. There is a slight chance that your phone could be damaged by an electrical storm. We recommend that you unplug the telephone line cord during an electrical storm.
