7 Introduction thanks you for your purchase of your new multi functions tactical display. Real concentrate of technologies within a small format, the offers the capacity of a micro navigation system with an intuitive user interface. Stick it anywhere on your boat, set the sails and you are off! Light, waterproof and wireless, your does not need you to lay any cables on your boat to work. Speed, course, race countdown timer, all these infos are visible by everybody on board thanks to its graphical display with digits as high as 40mm. No matter if you are sailing on dinghies, sport catamaran, sport boats, or even bigger boats, the is the perfect electronic partner for cruising, training and even racing. It will allow you to progress and to analyze the race course with a maximum number of infos. Once on dry land, you will be able to download your sailing sessions, training, or races and analyze the current effects, the header or lifts that you got as well as your speed after tacking or gybing. 8 Before going on the water Basic operations Description of the buttons Start : To start the system, simply press the Start button. In MULTI DISPLAY it allows you to start the timer. If the timer is already running, it will synchronize it to the next entire minute downwards. Mode : This button allows to validate your selection in the MENU screen. In MULTI DISPLAY, it allows you to change the type of display. Up / Down : These buttons allows to go up or down in the menu screens. They also allow to increment or decrement the values displayed on the screen. A short press will increment/decrement by 1 unit, a long press will increment/decrement by 5 units. In MULTI DISPLAY the Up button allows you to switch the info of the top part of the screen. In MULTI DISPLAY the Down button allows you to switch the info of the bottom part of the screen. A short press will switch between infos in normal order. A long press will switch between infos in reverse order. Back : This button allows you to go back the precedent screen. After setting a parameter, it will also save it into memory. Stop : This button allows to set the value of the TIMER in MULTI DISPLAY. It also allows to stop the TIMER countdown or the CHRONO. Switching On/Off the : Switching On the shortly to switch on the.. 9 Screen set as default factory setting in MULTI DISPALY mode The MULTI display mode is the basic mode where all the info concerning the behavior of the boat are readable. 11 Checking the battery level : The battery level is checked in real time. The battery level is display on all screens apart from the MULTI DISPLAY. At power up, a specific screen shows the battery level on the full screen. This screen is also available in MENU \ DEVICE STATUS \ BATT LEVEL. The battery level is displayed on the top right in the MAIN menu. Different sound and visual alarms are programmed for indicating a low battery: 20% battery level. 10% battery level. 05% battery level. The alarm will stop automatically after 30s beeping. When the alarm has triggered, you can also press to stop it. Charge up the if you can. Charging the The battery life of the is about 30 hours for a fully charged battery. Using its mains adapter, 2h30 are sufficient to charge the battery to 95 %. Do not hesitate to charge up your when your battery level gets lower than 25%. To charge the battery, open the weather cap of the connector, plug the mains adapter making sure that the white arrows are aligned. 12 Note : While the battery is charging, the keypad is blocked. If the device is OFF before to charge it, then you will not be able to use it if you keep the power adapter plugged. Remember : While the battery is charging, the keypad is blocked, but the information displayed on the screen of your is updated. To change the display of your, just unplug the power adapter, use the keypad to change the information as you want, and plug the power adapter again. CAUTION : Before to use your 12Vdc car lighter adapter, check that both connectors are dry, with no salted water. 12/42

15 MAIN menu overview 7 icons are available in the MAIN menu : MULTI DISPLAY TIMER SETTINGS RECORD SETTINGS DEVICE SETTINGS STATS INFOS ROUTES / WAYPOINTS MULTI DISPLAY : Main mode you will use when you are sailing with your. This mode gives access to all the data from the GPS module as well as the tactical informations computed from these data. When you switch on your device, you will directly enter in this mode. Anyway from the MAIN menu screen, select MULTI DISPLAY et press to validate your choice. You will get the SOG by default. 15/42

16 Changing display type: 1/1, 1/2-1/2 or 2/3-1/3 To switch between the 3 display modes press: Setting the info displayed in 1/1 display mode: shortly : The next info is displayed, the COG info : 16/42

18 Setting the countdown TIMER. In MULTI DISPLAY mode, select the TIMER info in your screen, 1/1 display, 1/2 display, 2/3 display or 1/3 display. The timer value is here set to 8 minutes by default. to set the value of the countdown TIMER. At each value. press, the value will decrement by 1 minute until it reaches 0 and then it will go back to the default A new press, will go back the timer value to its default value. Starting the TIMER. Once the TIMER set, press to start the countdown Beeps and flashing screen during TIMER countdown. The beeps for each whole minute over 4 min. The beeps every 30s under 4 min. The beeps every 15s under 1 min. The beeps every second for the last 15 seconds. Given the fact that it is very difficult to hear any instrument beeping while on the water when sails are flapping during a race start, the screen also flashes every time the beeps. 18/42

19 Synchronizing the TIMER. Once the countdown is started, it is possible to synchronize the TIMER to the nearest full minute. When needed press to synchronize the TIMER. It will then carry on the countdown from the new value. Example : You have missed the gun for a four seconds, if you press carry on the countdown. If you press at 55'' then it will resynchronize at 5'04'', the TIMER will synchronise to 5' and to 1'. Starting the chronograph without the Timer The CHRONO launches automatically at the end of the countdown of the TIMER. To launch the CHRONO mode without the TIMER, set the TIMER to 00:00 (see Setting the countdown TIMER.) and press : Stopping the TIMER. When the timer is counting down, press Just press Or press to stop the CHRONO and set the TIMER to the next whole minute value. to launch the TIMER again to set the TIMER value. 20 TIMER SETTINGS This menu allows you to set the default value for the time, and to choose or not to change automatically the display after the countdown of the timer. You will choose in this menu your preferred screen to display for example COG 1/2 SOG 1/2. To get the TIMER Settings, from the MAIN Menu, select the TIMER SETTINGS icon and press choice. to validate your DEFAULT VALUE From the MENU select TIMER SETTINGS / DEFAULT VALUE to modify the default value of the timer, press : Use and to set the default value according the race instructions. to save this value and go back to the previous screen. Note : Please keep in mind that the default value is the max value of the timer to be displayed in the MULTI DISPLAY. You can also set it to a lower value directly in the MULTI DISPLAY by pressing 20/42 until you get to the desired value. one more time to come back to the MAIN Menu.

21 SCREEN TIMER END This setting allow you to choose or not to change automatically the display after the countdown of the timer. If you don't change the display at the end of the countdown of the TIMER, you should normally see the count up of the Chronograph. You will choose in this menu your preferred screen to display for example : SOG 2/3 COG 1/3.. Here are the available screen to display at the end of the countdown of the TIMER : - CHRONO info will replace of TIMER info on the same way on the same screen. SOG displayed1/1. COG displayed 1/1. SOG / COG displayed ½ top ½ bottom. COG / SOG displayed ½ top ½ bottom. SOG / COG displayed 2/3 top 1/3 bottom. COG / SOG displayed 2/3 top 1/3 bottom. Note : The factory setting is COG / SOG displayed ½ top ½ bottom. From the MAIN Menu, use to select TIMER SETTINGS and press Then select SCREEN TIMER END, use and press to validate. to validate. 22 RECORD SETTINGS This menu allows to manually launch a recording, to synchronize it or not with the timer and the chronograph (in order to automatically record each race). In this menu you will be also able to set the resolution of the recording in order to optimize your storage capacity between 14 sentence per second up to 140 hours of GPS tracks at 1 recorded sentence per 10 seconds. It also allows you to erase the memory of the system. Only the following infos are saved by your : Time / Latitude / Longitude / SOG in knots / COG in degrees. START RECORD Recording started manually : From the MENU, select RECORD SETTINGS, select START RECORD and press to start a recording. Note : There are two ways to know if a recording is started as shown on the figure below. If the line displays STOP RECORD, then the SC200 is recording. If the line displays START RECORD, then the SC200 is not recording. If this icon is displayed and turning, then the SC200 is recording. 22/42

The factory setting is that a record will be started automatically when the TIMER is started. Select SET AUTO OFF and press to disable the automatic recording on the TIMER start. The line will change to SET AUTO ON. With this setting, no recording will be started when the TIMER starts. Select SET AUTO ON and press to allow again for a recording to be started when the TIMER is started. to go back to the previous screen. Starting an automatic recording. The automatic mode allows to make many recordings during the same sailing session. Synchronized with the TIMER, it will split the recordings according to your races. This allows you to identify more easily each race and to avoid recording the time waiting between races. The post race analysis becomes a lot easier. If you have set the automatic recording, select the TIMER in either the MULTI DISPLAY Or the RACE SCREEN. Start the TIMER as usual by pressing at the begin of the start procedure and a new recording will be started automatically. The small icon 23/42 will appear at the bottom right of the screen and indicates that the is recording.

24 Stopping an automatic record. To stop the record at the end of your race, stop the TIMER or the CHRONO as usual (pressing The icon ). will disappear from the screen. FORMAT Select FORMAT from MENU / RECORD SETTINGS to erase the memory of the. again to confirm if you wish to erase the memory of the. A progress bar will indicate that the memory is being erased. Once finished, the progress bar will disappear and you will be back to the previous screen. REC INTERVAL Changing the recording interval will allow you to optimize the storage capacity of your system function of the resolution you need to realize your post race analysis. With a REC INTERVAL fixed to 1, you will get up to 14 hours of GPS tracks recording at a resolution of 1 recorded sentence per second. With a REC INTERVAL fixed to 2, you will get up to 28 hours of GPS tracks recording at a resolution of 1 recorded sentence every two seconds. The extracted file will still be sharp for a post race analysis. You can set this REC INTERVAL up to 10 seconds, optimizing your storage capacity up to 140 hours, but the extracted file will only be for a leisure application.. 24/42

25 Select REC INTERVAL from MENU / RECORD SETTINGS to set the resolution of your records. to edit the recording interval, and fix it to the value you want using to save your settings and go back to the precedent menu. and DEVICE SETTINGS This menu allows to set the backlit illumination status, the compass damping, the speed damping, the screen contrast, the value of the local magnetic deviation, the time zone, the measurement system ( imperial or international) and the activation of the NMEA output for live report to a PC navigation software. From the MENU, select DEVICE SETTINGS, and press 25/42 to fix the device settings

26 BACKLIGHT Simply select the BACKLIGHT line and press to enable or disable the backlight. Note : the backlit illumination reduces sensibly the autonomy of the. Backlight ON Backlight OFF COMPASS DAMPING The damping of the COG information allows to smooth it in order to make it more useful by avoiding it being too sensitive to sudden boat moves due to waves or other interferences. Select Compass Damping and press Then press or to set the new value of the desired damping period. 3s is a good start for many boats and sailing conditions. 26/42 to save this value and go back to the previous screen.

27 SPEED DAMPING The damping of the SOG information allows to smooth it in order to make it more useful by avoiding it being too sensitive to sudden boat moves due to waves or other interferences. Select SPEED DAMPING and press or to set the new value of the desired damping period. 3s is a good start for many boats and sailing conditions. to save this value and go back to the previous screen. CONTRAST Select CONTRAST and press 27/42 or to edit the screen contrast value. to set the desired value. to save this value and go back to the previous screen.

28 DECLINATION The COG info that is displayed can be corrected in order to take into account the earth magnetic declination. If you do so, the info displayed will then be your magnetic COG. In order to set the magnetic declination, go to DEVICE SETTINGS and then DECLINATION, press value. to edit the You can then set the magnetic declination for your geographic zone. Get the correct local magnetic declination offset on : TIME ZONE You can set the TIME ZONE of your so that it will display the correct time. 29 MEASUREMENT SYST Setting the measurement system allows you to display distances either in meters or in feet. - Select International to display distances in meters. With this setting, distances will be displayed in meters. Once the international system line selected, press screen.. to validate your choice and go back to the previous - Select IMPERIAL if you want distances to be displayed in feet.. Between 100 and 650 feet, this distance will still be displayed in feet. After 650 feet, distances will be displayed in nautical miles. NMEA OUTPUT ACTIVATION From the main menu, select DEVICE SETTINGS then NMEA is OFF.. ing will enable to turn on the NMEA output of your device for direct connexion to a PC for live tracking. 29/42

30 If your NMEA output is ON, you NEED the USB cable to be connected to your. Keep in mind to previously check that no salted water is in the connector of your before plugging the cable. Do not activate the NMEA output in case of water in the connector of the. An activated NMEA output on your with water in the connector would cause some damages in the connector. Never recharge the battery of your device if there is some salted water in your connector. IN CASE OF DAMAGED CONNECTOR, neither your USB connection nor your battery charging will be OK anymore and THE REPAIR WILL NOT BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. Once your NMEA output is ON, your navigation software will be able to receive the GPS Tracks of your via USB. Using your navigation software, select the COM port associated to your as GPS input. STATS This menu displays the daily and the total statistics which are: LOCH T. Total loch of your system LOCH P. Loch since last stats reset TIME T. Total time of use of your system TIME P. Time of use of your system since last stats reset MAX SPD. Max speed recorded MAX SPD/10s. Max average speed over 10s recorded DELETE Allows to reset the daily stats: LOCH P, TIME P, MAX SPD, MAX SPD/10s. DELETE 30/42

31 To reset the daily stats, select DELETE and press. to go back to the previous screen. INFOS This menu displays the battery level, the firmware version and the percentage of memory used. BATT LEVEL Displays the level of battery left. 31/42

32 Select BATT LEVEL and press to go back to the previous screen. FMW VERS Displays the version of the FW. MEM USED Displays the amount of memory used to record your tracks. 0% means that you can still record 14h of tracks at 1s interval. 50% means that you can still record 7h of tracks at 1s interval. Note: before sailing, make sure that you will have enough memory to record your tracks. If the memory gets filled up, the system will not erase the previous tracks. It will simply stop recording until you format the memory. ROUTES/WAYPTS This menu allows you to add, create, modify waypoints and routes for coastal races. Allows you to launch a GOTO WPT, or to launch a ROUTE and to display the following info : VELOCITY TO WPT, COURSE TO WPT, CROSS COURSE, DIR TO WPT, DIST TO WPT... Please refer to the appendices concerning waypoints and routes on SC devices : here 32/42

34 On the water How to use the when sailing : Switch on your device, try to leave the system in vertical position with a clear view of the sky, in order to it find the satellites. You advise you to switch on the the device, 5 minutes before to fix it in your boat. It's not because the device is correctly working where you fixed it on your boat that it has a full visibility to the sky, which helps during the initialization process. Remember to erase the STATS before each sailing session, if you want to check your daily performances onboard. Remember to check the amount of memory used to record your tracks. 10% used memory means that you can still record 13h of tracks at 1s interval. 60% used memory means that you can still record 8h of tracks at 1s interval. You can also change the recording resolution to increase your storage capacity. Note: before sailing, make sure that you will have enough memory to record your tracks. If the memory gets filled up, the system will not erase the previous tracks. It will simply stop recording until you format the memory. Just work with the compass and speed information to sail better. Be sure to have activated the automatic change of display for your preferred screen at the end of the countdown of the timer. Starting a record in automatic mode Check that the CHRONO is set to start automatically at the end of the TIMER and that the record auto mode is on. While in MULTI DISPLAY or RACE SCREEN, press at any time to start a recording. When the system is recording, you will see the following icon In order to close the recording, press. 34/42 at the bottom right angle of the screen.
