1. Description and installation The Decoder is a highly precise timing device which allows you to: - Identify the passing of transponders and associate with a passing time - The Protime Elite decoder allows the management of speed and intermediate loops via RS485 or RF modem. - The Protime Elite decoder memorize the transponder passing information on SD card - Sends passing information to a computer using our Elite V2 software or third part software. The Protime Elite decoder is equipped with an internal battery with autonomy up to 2 hours, operational with passive loops only. Description - Protime Decoder Transponder passings are stored in the internal memory until it s been acknowledged by a computer, memory stores up to 2000 passings. The decoder has a TCP/IP and RS232 interface for communication with a computer. Description - Protime Elite Decoder The Protime Elite decoder is specifically used in races that require a resolution of 1/1000th of a second. The decoder stores all competitors passings on an SD card, which enables the user to restore the passing if required. An internal battery ensures the decoder has 2 hours autonomy during a power failure (Passive loops only). The graphic OLED display shows useful information such as the noise level, the loop detection level, the latest transponder number identified. It also displays the race time or day time, which can be synchronized by GPS or by the computer. The decoder has an Ethernet and RS232 interface for communication with the computer.

1.5. Switch on Protime and Protime Elite decoder Plug in the power supply to 110V or 220V. Concerning the Protime Elite decoder : Attach the power connector to the decoder, but whilst doing so do not press any of the front panel buttons Switch off Protime and Protime Elite decoder Disconnect the power supply from the mains power (110V or 220V). Unscrew the power connector to disconnect the internal battery (Only for Protime Elite decoder) Settings Protime Elite decoder If you press the black button at the same time as you connect the power connector, this will reset the decoder to its original settings. This enables you come back to the original configuration, change a parameter of the decoder (example: change the level of 1 loop). To come back to the previous configuration, unplug the power connector then start again. Also if the internal battery goes flat the decoder returns to its original settings- This is not good Programming mode decoder If you press the red button at the same time as you connect the power connector, this will set the decoder into programming mode to load a new firmware version via the RS232 serial link.
2. Information on the OLED screen (on Elite versions) 2.1. When the decoder is stopped A : Noise on STA input loop and BOX input loop. The noise is an indication of a higher interference level received by the system. Every 5 seconds and each time that the transponders cross the line, the decoder gives the noise level. - A loop with a noise level of 0 corresponds to perfect so the decoder will detect the transponders at the highest. - A loop with a noise level between 0 and 30 allows the decoder to detect the transponder in normal use. - A loop with a noise level between 30 and 40: there is a risk that the decoder will fail to detect a transponder. - A loop with a noise level of over 40: there is very little chance that the decoder will detect the transponder on the loop. If the noise level is higher than 40, it is necessary to check all the of the system cables including (loop wire, resistance of the passive loop, coaxial cable, BNC connectors ) and make sure there is no electronic equipment within 2 meters of the loop ( LAN and printer cables, short-wave radio station, electricity or generator near any of the cables or timing loops., ) which may be the cause of increased noise. B : Level of detection set up in the decoder You can change this parameter in the setting page of the decoder to increase the accuracy. 0 is the maximum sensitivity of loop / transponder detection 99 is the minimum sensitivity of loop / transponder detection (usually with this setting, you will no longer detect the transponder). By default the decoder is already programmed with a level of detection of 10. C : GPS information Illuminated red if the GPS is not activated in the settings Illuminated green if the GPS is activated in the settings D : TCP/IP information Illuminated red if the TCP/IP is not activated in the settings. Illuminated green if the TCP/IP is activated in the settings. This indicator does not refer to the connection, it shows TCP/IP is on or off.
E : Battery information Light red if the power supply is not connected to the main power, and you have a Bip through the Audio connection (when the decoder is started) every 30 seconds to inform that you have lost main power. Light is green if the power supply is connected and main power is available. F : SD Card reader Light red if you have no SD Card inserted or not initialized Light is green if you have an SD Card inserted and initialized G : Date and Time Can be modified in the settings H : BOX loop information Noise you have on the Box input loop Level you have adjusted in the settings I : STA loop information Noise you have on the STA input loop Level you have adjusted in the settings When the decoder is started A : Information of the status of the last passing RED line if the decoder has not received an acknowledge (from the computer) for the last passing ACK PC = Waiting for the Acknowledge from the computer Nu = Transponder serial number (99) = Level of reception BLUE line if the decoder has received an acknowledge (from the computer) for the last passing STA = The identification of the loop where the transponder has been seen Nu = Transponder serial number (99) = Level of reception
B : Race time information In the settings you have the choice to start the decoder from time of day: or begin to count from 00:00.00: 2.2.
