Creating a Migration Project Managing Custom Groups Managing Tasks Mapping Sametime Users to Active Directory Configuring OCS/Lync Server Settings Performing a Pre-Migration Assessment/Migration Browsing Task Results Viewing Properties

Quest Migrator for Sametime How Do I Migrate Sametime Users to OCS/Lync Server? Before you begin any migration project, consider: If you are migrating a large number of users (for example, more than 10,000), you should use the full version of SQL, not the Express Edition, and install the database on its own computer. Document the current infrastructure and identify the assets (people, servers, departments) to be migrated to capture the scale and complexity of the current operating environment. Determine the schedule for migration and the order in which the users get migrated. Performing pre-migration assessments to ensure that the process runs smoothly. Decide on which SIP address format to use. For more information, see Configuring OCS/Lync Server Settings on page 19. After you install and configure Migrator for Sametime, you can start migrating Sametime users to OCS/Lync Server in these steps: 1. Create a migration project. See Creating a Migration Project on page Create a custom group. See Managing Custom Groups on page Map Sametime users to match a specified attribute of a Domino user to a specified attribute of the Active Directory user. See Mapping Sametime Users to Active Directory on page Enable the users in OCS/Lync Server. See Configuring OCS/Lync Server Settings on page

Managing Quest Migrator for Sametime 5. Perform a pre-migration assessment to check for errors or failures before you do a full migration. Note: This tab only appears if you click the project name. It does not appear if you select a user. 13

Quest Migrator for Sametime Managing Custom Groups Custom groups allow you to create arbitrary groups of users to simplify task management. For example, you can a create a custom group of users once and use that custom group as the target for multiple tasks. If you change the custom group, the tasks will automatically target the new group of selected users. We recommend grouping your users to better manage all tasks. Custom groups will appear under the Custom Groups node in the treeview. Since custom groups are used as task targets, they are shared between all users of the console. Create custom groups by using one of the following methods: Creating Static Custom Groups Creating Dynamic Custom Groups Creating Static Custom Groups A static custom group is a group of arbitrary users. To create a static custom group 1. Right-click the Custom Groups node in the treeview and select Create Static Custom Group. 2. In the New Static Custom Group dialog, double-click the server name to see the list of users associated with that server. 3. Select the users you want part of the custom group. 4. Enter a name for the custom group, and click OK. Creating Dynamic Custom Groups A dynamic custom group is a group of users that meet a set of criteria based on properties of the users. To create a dynamic custom group 1. Right-click the Custom Groups node in the treeview and select Create Dynamic Custom Group. 2. In the New Dynamic Custom Group dialog, enter a name for the group. 3. Click Add to insert criteria for the selected users. 14

Managing Quest Migrator for Sametime You can base your search criteria on the following fields: Name Distinguished Name Mail Server Instant Messaging Server Department Location Company Organization OCS/Lync SIP Address Mapped Active Directory User Migration Status (includes Mapping:Not Mapped, Mapping:Success, Mappping:Error, OCS Configuration:Error, OCS Configuration:Success, Assessment:Error, Assessment:Success, Migration:Error, and Migration:Success) Using one of the following conditions: equals does not equal contains does not contain starts with ends with 4. Click OK. Property criteria are cumulative only users that match all of the selected criteria will be part of the group. For example, you can create a custom group for users who may have had errors during mapping or assessment tasks. To do this: 1. Create a dynamic custom group and name the group "Unmapped users". 2. In the Type to Search for box, select Sametime users. 3. Click Add. 4. In the Field box, select Migration Status. 5. In the Condition box, select Contains. 6. In the Value box, enter Not mapped. Editing Custom Groups To edit a custom group Right-click your custom group name under the Custom Groups node in the treeview and select Edit Custom Groups. 15

Quest Migrator for Sametime Deleting Custom Groups To delete a custom group Right-click your custom group name under the Custom Groups node in the treeview and select Delete. Managing Tasks You can perform the following tasks using Sametime for Migrator: Mapping Sametime Users to Active Directory Configuring OCS/Lync Server Settings Performing a Pre-Migration Assessment/Migration Cancelling a Task Cloning a Task The time required to complete a task depends on the number of users targeted by the task. Allow more time in your migration plan if you have a large number of users to migrate. Mapping Sametime Users to Active Directory You must map the Sametime users to Active Directory (AD) users before you begin the migration. User mapping will match a specified attribute of a Domino user to a specified attribute of the AD user. Before mapping, ensure the following: To map users you have read/write access to Active Directory the user already exists in Active Directory you have determined the matching attributes in Domino and Active Directory 1. From the treeview, right-click the name of the server or custom group, and select Map Sametime Users to Active Directory. 2. In the Mapping Task wizard, enter a name for the mapping task. If you want to change the server or custom group, click Change to select a new target. 3. Click Next. 16

Managing Quest Migrator for Sametime 4. Review the task execution schedule, task credentials, and notification settings in the Task Settings wizard page, and click Next. You normally configure the task to run only once. For information about other options, see Configuring Global Settings on page In the Domain Selection page, select one or more domain(s) to search in your Active Directory forest. Use the Up and Down buttons to set the order in which you want the domains searched. 6. Click Next. 7. In the Mapping page, select to map users either by looking up Domino attributes or by using a Notes Migrator for Exchange database. IF YOU SELECT MAPPING USERS BY Looking up Domino attributes Using a Notes Migrator for Exchange database THEN Select a Domino attribute. The matching Active Directory attribute will automatically populate. Note: The value is only automatically populated for our suggested values. If you want to add another value to this list, then you must manually set the second drop-down. Enter the name of the SQL Server used for Notes Migrator for Exchange. Note: The database used for Notes Migrator for Exchange must accept remote connections, and the account running the mapping task must have at least read access to the database. Migrator for Sametime supports Notes Migrator for Exchange versions 4.0 and 4.4. Notes Migrator for Exchange migrates user accounts, users' , calendars, tasks, and personal address books to the users' new mailboxes on the Exchange/Exchange Online server. If you have previously migrated users to an Exchange organization in your target Active Directory forest, the data collected during the migration can be reused to map users. For more information on Notes Migrator for Exchange, see 8. Click Next. 9. If a mapping already exists, select either to keep the existing mapping and skip the user or overwrite the existing mapping. 10. Click Next. 17

Quest Migrator for Sametime 11. Review your mapping summary, and click Finish. The database is populated with a list of Domino User names mapped to Fully Qualified Active Directory names. Select the Mapping task to determine which user has an error during the mapping process. 2. Select the domain to view the list of users in the General tab of the center pane. 3. Right-click the user with the error, and select Manually Map User to Active Directory. 4. Click the Browse button next to the Active Directory User box. 5. From the drop-down list, select an Active Directory Domain. 6. Select the custom group or server to see the list of users. 7. Select the Active Directory user and click OK. 8. At the Active Directory User Selection dialog, click OK. 18

Managing Quest Migrator for Sametime Deleting User Mapping You can delete user mapping if you do not wish that user to be part of the mapping or migration. To delete user mapping 1. Select the custom group or server to see the list of users. 2. Right-click the user(s) whose mapping you want deleted, and select Delete user mapping. Configuring OCS/Lync Server Settings Once users are mapped, you must configure OCS/Lync Server settings for the users. The OCS/Lync Configuration task allows the user to access OCS/Lync Server, and enables your users into a specific OCS/Lync Server pool. In a mixed OCS/Lync Server environment, you cannot configure a user in an OCS pool if the user is already enabled in a Lync pool. Similarly, you cannot configure a user in a Lync pool if the user is already enabled in an OCS pool. In these cases, use Lync Management Console or Lync Management Shell to move that user to the target pool. You must have read/write access to Active Directory. Before enabling users in OCS/Lync Server, determine the OCS/Lync Server options you want to enable. We recommend grouping the users, and running the OCS/Lync Server configuration task against that custom group. To enable users in OCS/Lync Server 1. Select the set of users to enable. You have three options: a) From the treeview, right-click the Domino server. This selects all users in the server. b) From the treeview, right-click a custom group. This selects only users who belong to the group. c) From the treeview, click the Domino Server. In the General tab, select one user or use Ctrl+click to select several users. Right-click on one of the selected users. 2. Select Configure OCS/Lync Settings for Users. If you selected individual users, you must specify a Custom Group name before proceeding. This group is added to the treeview. 3. Enter a task name and click Next. 19

Quest Migrator for Sametime 4. Review the task execution schedule, task credentials, and notification settings in the Task Settings page, and click Next. You normally configure the task to run only once. For information about other options, see Configuring Global Settings on page In the Lync Support Options page, check Use Remote PowerShell to connect to Lync Server if you are migrating users to Microsoft Lync Server. Enter the Lync Server Pool FQDN in the text box in the Lync Global Configuration area. You can click Test to verify the value you entered. 6. In the OCS Options page, select the domain or forest where your OCS/Lync Server is installed. If Active Directory forest contains more than one OCS/Lync Server installation with each OCS/Lync Server having its own pool and SIP address, you must create separate OCS/Lync Configuration tasks for each OCS/Lync Server pool you have installed. 7. Select an OCS/Lync Server pool to contain the migrated users. 8. Select one of the following SIP domains to be used to migrate users: the user s address the User Principal Name (UPN) (or system user name) the format <firstname>.<lastname>@domain name the format <samaccountname>@domain name We recommend determining which SIP domain to use at the beginning of the migration process. If you decide to change the SIP domain after you have migrated, you will have to configure users in OCS/Lync Server again, then migrate all buddy lists again. 9. Click Next. 10. In the User Settings page, check settings and select Enable or Disable for your users. Available settings depend on whether you are migrating to OCS or Lync Server. Available for migration to OCS and Lync Server: Enable Users (Enhanced Presence) - shows the availability of users to communicate and have control over their presence information Available for migration to OCS only: Public IM Connectivity - allows users to communicate with one or more of the public IM service providers Archive internal IM conversations - allows users to archive IM conversations of internal users Enterprise Voice - allows users to communicate with each other through Voice over IP (VoIP) 20

Managing Quest Migrator for Sametime Federation - allows users to provide presence information with external users Remote user access - allows users to enable remote access to communicate with other users Archive federated IM conversations - allows users to archive federated IM conversations with external users To log on to OCS/Lync Server, Enable Users (Enhanced Presence) must be selected. 11. Click Next. 12. If a user is already enabled in OCS/Lync Server, you can choose to leave the user s existing sign-in address unchanged, or overwrite it with the SIP address generated using the method specified in the OCS/Lync Options page. 13. Click Next. 14. Review user properties and click Finish. Editing your OCS/Lync Configuration Task To edit your OCS/Lync Server Configuration task 1. In the treeview, right-click the name of your OCS/Lync Configuration task and select Edit. 2. Make your desired changes, and click Finish. 3. Right-click your OCS/Lync Configuration Task and select Run Now. Deleting your OCS/Lync Configuration Task To delete your OCS/Lync Configuration task 1. In the treeview, right-click the name of your OCS/Lync Configuration task and select Delete. 2. Click Yes if you are sure you want to delete this task. 21

Quest Migrator for Sametime Performing a Pre-Migration Assessment/Migration The pre-migration assessment checks for existing users and their properties in Notes and Active Directory (AD), and alerts administrators of errors or failures that may have occurred during this assessment. You can re-run the pre-migration assessment multiple times. If errors and failures are found, fix these issues, then select Migrate Users to OCS/Lync to perform the full migration. We recommend performing a pre-migration assessment each time before you perform a full migration. Once you have mapped your Sametime users to AD and enabled them in OCS/Lync Server, you can begin the migration. To perform a pre-migration assessment/migration 1. From the treeview, right-click the name of your Domino server or a custom group, and select Assess/Migrate Sametime Buddy List. 2. Enter a name for the migration task. If you want to change the server or the custom group, click Change to select a new target. 3. Click Next. 4. Review the task execution schedule, task credentials, and notification settings in the task Settings page, and click Next. You normally configure the task to run only once. For information about other options, see Configuring Global Settings on page In the Sametime Server page, enter the name of the Sametime server to include in the assessment/migration. This searches the buddy list for the selected users and identifies any users with potential migration issues. Click Next. 6. In the Lync Support Options page, check Use Remote PowerShell to connect to Lync Server if you are migrating users to Microsoft Lync Server. Enter the Lync Server Pool FQDN in the text box in the Lync Global Configuration area. You can click Test to verify the value you entered. 7. In the Migration/Assessment page, select one of the following migration options: 22

Managing Quest Migrator for Sametime Pre-migration assessment - performs an assessment to alert users of issues that may arise that can prevent a proper migration. No changes are made to the Sametime or OCS/Lync Server environment. If you select this option, proceed to the next step. Migrate user contacts to OCS/Lync - migrates users from Sametime to OCS/Lync Server per the task settings. If no migration errors occur, each selected user is migrated to OCS/Lync Server. If you select this option, select one of the following methods to migrate user contacts: Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) - not available for migrations to Lync Server Performs the migration using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) classes. This option must be run as a user in the target forest. Direct database access to the OCS back-end is not required. Migrations may take longer using this method. If you use this method, you must add a registry key to the OCS. To get the registry key, go to Direct Database Connection to the OCS/Lync Database Injects user contacts directly to the OCS/Lync Server Back-End database. This option gives offers the fastest performance for migrating contacts into the database, but requires direct access to the OCS/Lync Server back-end database. Use the Microsoft SQL Surface Area Configuration tool to enable remote connections and the SQL Browser service on the OCS/Lync Server Back-End server. If you are hosting OCS 2007, OCS 2007 R2, or Lync Server on Microsoft Windows Server 2008, then configure the Windows Server 2008 Firewall to allow remote connections. For more information, see Generate xml files for use with the dbimpexp support tool Generates xml files in the directory specified. This option creates files which can be used in conjunction with the Dbimpexp support tool. Choose this method if you want to inject contacts into the database at a later time or if the database is inaccessible (for example, OCS Online). See the OCS documentation on using the Dbimpexp tool. 8. Click Next. 23

Quest Migrator for Sametime 9. In the Nested groups page, select to either flatten or merge nested groups. IF YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO Flatten nested groups THEN Nested groups become top-level groups. Because OCS/Lync Server does not allow nested groups, the hierarchy of contact groups will be converted to a flat list of top-level groups in OCS/Lync Server. So if you have a nested group in Sametime, such as the following example: Then, once flattened, OCS/Lync Server would display this list in the following way: The top-level group names will be generated by combining the sub group names, separated by '::'. 24

Managing Quest Migrator for Sametime IF YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO Merge Nested Groups THEN All users in the nested group are merged under top-level groups. So if you have a nested group in Sametime, such as the following example: Then, once merged, OCS/Lync Server would display this list in the following way: 10. Click Next. 11. Contact names in Office Communications Server are limited to 60 characters. If you have contact group names that exceed 60 characters, you can select to either not migrate the buddy list (an error is returned), or truncate the contact names and continue with the pre-assessment (a warning is returned). Click Next. If you choose to merge the nested groups, the contact group names can exceed 60 characters. 12. In the External Contacts page, you can either select to migrate all external contacts, specify which contacts to migrate by including or excluding certain domains, or choose not to migrate any external contacts. Click Next. Some external contacts may not be accessible if they are not supported by OCS/Lync Server. 13. In the Contact Options page, specify the maximum number of contacts that will be migrated, then specify what action to take if the contact list exceeds that number. 25

Quest Migrator for Sametime OCS limits the size of the contact list to 200. In Lync Server, the limit is 250. However, some Sametime users may have lists that exceed this number. IF YOU SELECT Return an error and do not migrate user contacts Return a warning and migrate the maximum number of contacts THEN If you are performing a pre-migration assessment, an error will be returned. If you are performing a full migration, an error will be returned. No contacts are migrated. If you are performing a pre-migration assessment, a warning will be returned as users are migrated. If you are performing a full migration, the maximum number of contacts specified will be migrated. For example, if you have a contact list of 300 users, and if you have specified to migrate 250 users, only the first 250 users will be migrated. The remaining 50 are not Select the check box if you would like to delete your OCS/Lync Server contacts before migrating your Sametime contacts. By default, all OCS/Lync Server contacts are preserved. 15. Click Next. 16. Click Finish. Once your users have been mapped, enabled in OCS/Lync Server, assessed, and migrated, you can view them by double-clicking the server name in the treeview. The list of users, along with their properties, appears in the General tab. Once migrated, we recommend the following: Maintain both systems and allow them to interoperate while continuing to update and synchronize the new system with changed information from the old system. Monitor that the assets are successfully operating for a period of time in the new environment, and make any additional configuration changes to make that environment permanent. Decommission old assets as required. Depending on the size of the organization, this process can be repeated as many times as required, for each department or group of users determined in the Planning phase.

Managing Quest Migrator for Sametime Cancelling a Task Cancelling a task lets you stop a task while in progress. To cancel a task 1. From the Task Results pane, right-click a task name. 2. Click Cancel Task. The Properties pane at the bottom of the Task Results pane shows the task has been cancelled by the user. Cloning a Task A cloned task lets you create a new task based on an existing one, thus eliminating the need to create a new task from the beginning. To clone a task Expand the Tasks node in the Management Console treeview, right-click the task that you want to clone, and select Clone. When you click Clone, the Edit wizard appears with the information in all pages identical to those in the original task, except for the task name (the task names appears as Copy of <name of original task>). You can change the name of the task and make other changes. within the task. When you finish editing the cloned task, then new task will appear in the treeview. Browsing Task Results The Task Results tab lists all the users, task name, and status of the task. If you want more information about a task on a particular user, click a user to view the following details in the Properties pane: Summary of the task which includes: Name of the task. Actual value with action performed, container name and server name. Task start time and completion time. Number of errors, warnings, tasks not completed, or task completed successfully. List of users who have errors, warnings, incomplete task results, and successful task results. Colored icons adjacent to a user name or tasks in the Tasks Results window indicate the following status: 27

Quest Migrator for Sametime Green icon: Task has completed successfully Red icon: Error was detected Yellow icon: Warning was detected Grey icon: An unknown error occurred No icon: No tasks are currently running Viewing More Details on Task Results You can click a task to get detailed results, such as number of errors or warnings, start and end time. You can view details about warnings, errors, or incomplete task results on a user in any task. If the task is not successful, the details will give you a summary of the warning or error, possible reasons why the task is not successful, and possible solutions to help remedy the problem. 54 Quest Migrator for Sametime Setting Security Quest Web Reports includes a flexible solution for report security which lets you assign certain permissions to users, and enable different views of the reporting tree depending on user needs and security requirements. Quest Web Reports supports two types of security: Role-based Security which is inherent in Web Reports. File-System Based Security which requires NTFS manipulation of your network. Role-based Security Role-based security provides an initial layer of security for your reports. Three local security groups, each with preconfigured permissions, are created when Quest Web Reports is installed. Quest Migrator for Sametime Web Reports provides the following three local security groups in a role-based security scheme: Web Report Administrators Web Report Authors Web Report Users The effect of role-based security is uniform for all reports. All three security groups have access to the report site, and all reports therein; however, the roles (Administrator, Author, User) provide different permissions that can restrict the ways reports can be manipulated. The default membership to these security groups places administrators in the Web Report Administrator role, and all others in both the Web Report Authors and Web Report Users roles. To customize the memberships for your implementation, you can add or remove users from the default groups. Administrators can specify which users belong to which roles by modifying their membership in these local security groups. The role-based security scheme is easier to manage than the file-system permissions security scheme, as the changes to these security groups immediately affect all reports. This table shows the actions associated with each role: ACTION USER AUTHOR ADMIN Accessing the site Exporting reports Saving report settings in My Reports folder Saving report settings in any folder Creating Custom Reports 54

Using Web Reports ACTION USER AUTHOR ADMIN Saving Custom Reports in My Reports folder Saving Custom Reports in any folder Creating new folders in My Reports folder Creating new folders in any folder Copy folders or report within My Reports folder Copy folders or reports to and within My Reports folder Copy folders or reports to and within any folder Move folders or reports with My Reports folder Move folders or reports from any folder to My Reports folder Move folder to and within any folder Rename folders or reports in My Reports folder Rename folders or report in any folder Delete folders or reports in My Reports folder Delete folders or reports in any folder Edit folder descriptions in My Reports folder Edit folder descriptions in any folder Enable subscriptions for reports in My Reports folder Enable subscriptions for reports in any folder Set Filter Defaults File-System Based Security In addition to the Web Report security roles, you can enable an additional level of security using a file permissions-based scheme. At a minimum, the role-based security scheme allows all roles to view all reports. Alternately, a permission-based scheme can restrict the reports to be available to some users. Explicit permissions are applied on a per-group or per-user basis, and assigned to individual files, folders, and reports. You can configure the settings so that different groups, such as executive management, the help desk, and Exchange administrators can see different report nodes and reports. System administrators can create more sophisticated security schemes by modifying the file permissions for reports and folders in the file system on the web server. Report files and folders normally reside in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\migratorforsametime\reports. By restricting the reports that are available to all users, you can protect sensitive analytical data from users that do not require that information. 55

Quest Migrator for Sametime Users connecting through a web browser can only see report files and folders for which they have read access permissions, and folders for which they have list permissions in the file system. Security Scenarios Permission-based security provides more detailed control than role-based security, but it requires some action on an administrator s part. Quest Migrator for Sametime does not provide the functionality to manipulate the permissions on files and folders. Use native Microsoft tools to create the appropriate Windows NT File System (NTFS) security changes. Refer to Microsoft Windows native tools procedures for detailed information about implementing NTFS security scenarios. For information about determining an appropriate security scheme for your implementation, contact Quest Support. The following table provides some security implementations that you may want to consider: IMPLEMENTATION Restricting access to out-of-the-box report folders Restricting access to newly-created report folders Restricting access to individual out-of-the-box reports DETAILS Using native Microsoft Windows tools, remove the Web Reports Administrators, Authors, and Users roles from the folder you want to restrict. 63 5 Troubleshooting About Program Logging Installation Issues Database Issues Migration Issues Operating System Issues Web Reports Issues

Quest Migrator for Sametime About Program Logging Quest Migrator for Sametime documents its program activities and outcomes in log files, which you may review to fine-tune program performance options and diagnose and resolve possible issues. The logs are captured in several separate log files, each recording data for a different type or phase of program activities. Migrator for Sametime also provides a batch file that collects the multiple log files into a single centralized logfiles.cab file, which resides in:...\migrator for Sametime\ManagementConsole\Binaries\Utilities\logfiles.cab To collect the MFS log files into the logfiles.cab file: Run collectlogfiles.bat (in the same Utilities folder cited above). The log level (volume of detail logged) is configurable for each of the several component log files. The default log level for all logs is Warning, but for much more detail you can change the log level to Verbose. The log levels are set and can be changed by parameters in configuration files (in the MFS installation folder), as noted below: In Mmc.exe.config: Log Level Parameter and Default: SpotlightOnMessageSwitch=Warning In SametimeToOCS.DiagnosticServices.DiscoveryProviderHost.exe.config: Log Level Parameter and Default: SpotlightOnMessageSwitch=Warning In SpotlightDiagnosticTest.exe.config: Log Level Parameter and Default: SpotlightOnMessageSwitch=Warning In SametimeToOCS.PowerShell.PowerShellSnapin.dll.config: Log Level Parameter and Default: TraceSourceLevel=7 Note that the log level parameter value here is numeric: 1: All 0: None 1: Critical 3: System.Diagnostics.TraceEventType.Critical and System.Diagnostics.TraceEventType.Error 7: Warning (default) 15: Information 31: Verbose 64

Troubleshooting Installation Issues What should I do if I am missing certain prerequisites? Mandatory prerequisites must be installed before Migrator for Sametime can be installed. Either exit from the installer and install the prerequisites, or deselect the component for which the prerequisite is required. Optional prerequisites are only necessary for certain functionality to work. An error message will be displayed whenever you encounter functionality that is disabled because a prerequisite is not installed. Why do my prerequisites check for.net 3.5 fail even though I have.net 3.5 installed? Ensure that you have.net 3.5 installed. You can download Service Pack 1 from Microsoft, or you can use Windows Update to ensure your computer is up-to-date. I have double-checked that all my prerequisites are correctly installed, but the installer still does not detect them. What do I do? You can choose to bypass the prerequisite check by running the installer with the IGNOREPREREQUISITES=1 command line argument. Database Issues What should I do if my database fails during a task? If your database fails while you are performing any task, close the Management Console, restart your Migration services, and rerun the tasks. I am trying to use SQL Server 2005 or 2008 Express, but I get an error message that it cannot connect to the database. Why? If you are using SQL Server 2005 or 2008 Express, you must enter the database instance name along with the server name. For example DATABASE_SERVER_NAME\SQLEXPRESS. I am trying to use SQL Server 2005 or 2008 Express which is installed on a remote machine, but I get an error message that it cannot connect to the database. Why? By default, remote connections are disabled for SQL 2005 or 2008 Express. To enable remote connection, use the SQL Server Configuration Manager to enable TCP/IP for the database instance. 65

Quest Migrator for Sametime I need to move my database. What do I do? 1. Stop the Migration Services. 2. Move the database to the new location. 3. From the Registry Editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Quest Software Spotlight Management Framework Migration Services. 4. Double-click DatabaseConnectionString. 5. In the Edit String dialog, enter the new location of your database in the Data Source field. 6. Click OK. 7. Locate and open the Web Reports.udl file. The file is located where you have Web Reports installed. Once open, the Data Link Properties dialog opens. 8. Select or enter the new location of your database, and click OK. 9. Restart the Migration Services. Migration Issues I am migrating users to OCS and receiving an error that it could not connect to the RTC database. What should I do? Use the Microsoft SQL Surface Area Configuration tool to enable remote connections and the SQL Browser service. If you are hosting OCS 2007, OCS 2007 R2, or Lync Server on Microsoft Windows Server 2008, then configure the Windows Server 2008 Firewall to allow remote connections. For more information, see I am migrating buddy lists using WMI and receive errors. What should I do? Ensure that your Office Communications Server services are running properly. Also, you may need to add the DisableBSTRValidation registry entry added on the OCS Front end server as well as the local computer as detailed in the following KB article: I don t have any OCS/OCS R2 pools in my environment, but when I try to migrate users to the Lync environment, I get the following error: Failed to enable Lync user using Lync Management Shell. One or more errors occurred while running PowerShell cmdlet Set-CsUser: Cannot modify a legacy user using the cmdlet. 66

Troubleshooting Ensure that the user is not enabled in a legacy OCS pool. If the user is enabled in the legacy pool, use Lync Management Shell or Lync Control Panel to move the user to a Lync pool. This can happen if Quest Migrator for Sametime version 1.x has been used to migrate users in a Lync Server environment. This version of Quest Migrator for Sametime did not support Lync Server. To resolve this problem, open Lync Management Console, locate the user, and execute the "Remove from Lync" action, or run the Disable-CsUser cmdlet for the user in Lync Management Shell. This will enable you to configure and migrate the user to Lync Server, using Quest Migrator for Sametime version 2.0. Why does my migration fail when I use the PowerGUI? The problem may be with case sensitivity (e.g., the Domino server property is case sensitive). Mismatched server names can cause migration failure. Operating System Issues What if I am using Windows Vista or Windows 2008 and my tasks are still not running properly? If you have Migrator for Sametime installed Windows Vista or Windows 2008 computers, you must turn off the User Account Control (UAC). Tasks will not run properly if the UAC is still on. Web Reports Issues Microsoft ASP.NET Configuration Issues Migrator for Sametime Web Reports require that Microsoft.Net Framework 3.5 be installed on the server on which the web-based reports are hosted. If you have problems accessing Migrator for Sametime Web Reports, you can check the following settings that affect ASP Active Server Page (ASP) configuration. To check if Active Server Pages are enabled (Windows Server 2003) 1. Open the IIS Manager snap-in and select Web Service Extensions. 2. Verify that the Active Server Pages setting is set to Allowed. 3. Restart the IIS service. 4. Check if you can access the Migrator for Sametime Web Reports. For Windows Server 2008, IIS 7.0 is required. Also the Web Server (IIS) role must be installed and certain role services must be enabled. 67

Quest Migrator for Sametime IIS Role Services on Windows Server 2008 To install Migrator for Sametime Reports on Windows Server 2008, you must install IIS (Internet Information Services) 7.0. The Web Server (IIS) role must be installed on Windows Server 2008 and the following IIS role services must be enabled. IIS WEB SERVER (IIS) ROLE SERVICES Common HTTP Features Application Development Security SERVICES THAT MUST BE ENABLED Static Content Default Document ASP.NET ASP Server Side Includes Windows Authentication You can install the Web Services (IIS) role using the Add Roles Wizard. To modify an existing Web Server (IIS) role, you can access the Server Manager and select Server Roles Web Server (IIS) Role Services. Installing IIS After Service Pack Can Break ASP If you install Internet Information Services (IIS) after a Windows Server 2003 Service Pack has been installed, IIS may fail to serve Active Service Pages (ASP). For example, you might see one of the following error messages: Service Unavailable HTTP error Page cannot be displayed This problem is caused by there being a mix of IIS files installed, both Windows Server 2003 release files and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack files (either SP1 or SP2). To identify the problem, check the version number properties for the Asp.dll file. If the version is , the file is the release version but should be the service pack version. The solution for this issue is to reinstall the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack. Similar issues can arise with Windows 2000 Server and Windows XP. In both cases, the solution is to reinstall the service pack after IIS has been installed. 68

Troubleshooting Repairing IIS Mappings for ASP.NET In some Microsoft environments, you can encounter a configuration issue with Microsoft.NET which results in Migrator for Sametime being unable to report information. The error indicates that Microsoft.NET Framework version 3.5 must be installed on the IIS server that hosts Migrator for Sametime Web Reports, and that Microsoft ASP.NET must be enabled on the virtual directory that contains Migrator for Sametime Web Reports. If you are sure that the Microsoft.NET Framework version 3.5 is installed and that ASP.NET is enabled, you may need to repair the IIS mappings for ASP.NET. The following procedure is based on the Microsoft Knowledge Base article Use the following procedure to configure Microsoft ASP.NET. To repair configuration mappings for ASP.NET 1. Run the Aspnet_regiis.exe utility: a) Click Start and select Run. b) Type cmd and click OK. c) Navigate to the.net Framework directory. (%windir%\microsoft.net\framework\version\) In this path, the version represents the.net Framework directory version that is installed on the server. Replace the version placeholder in the example with the actual version number. For example, at the command prompt, type the following: CD /D "%windir%\microsoft.net\framework\v " d) Type the following command: aspnet_regiis.exe -i e) Click OK. 2. Restart the IIS Service: a) Click Start and select Run. b) Type iisreset and click OK. If Repairing the IIS Mappings for ASP.NET Fails If you follow the procedure to repair the IIS mappings and you still see the error, the cause might be that the Network Service is not granted the correct permission to write to the IIS metabase. 69

Quest Migrator for Sametime To grant permissions to the Network Service to write to the IIS metabase 1. Click Start and select Run. 2. In the Open text box, type cmd and click OK. 3. Navigate to the.net Framework directory. (%windir%\microsoft.net\framework\version\) In this path, the version represents the.net Framework directory version that is installed on the server. Replace the placeholder in the example with an actual version number. For example, at the command prompt, type the following: CD /D "%windir%\microsoft.net\framework\v " 4. Type the following command: aspnet_regiis.exe -ga "nt authority\network service" The "-ga" option grants the specified user or group access to the IIS metabase and other directories that are used by ASP.NET. Running Reports on 64-Bit Operating Systems on Windows Server 2003 Migrator for Sametime Web Reports can be installed on 64-bit operating systems, but IIS must be reconfigured to allow Migrator for Sametime Web Reports to operate correctly. On 64-bit operating systems, you must reconfigure IIS to run in 32-bit mode. For instructions on how to configure IIS to run either the 32-bit version of ASP.NET 3.5, see the Microsoft Knowledgebase Article ( This procedure can cause application compatibility issues with other web applications installed on the same IIS Web Server so it is recommended that Migrator for Sametime Web Reports be run only on servers without other web applications. Reconfiguring IIS to run in 32-bit mode can cause compatibility issues with other web applications that are installed on the same server. Particularly, reconfiguring IIS to run in 32-bit mode can cause compatibility issues with SQL Server 2005 Web Services. Quest does not recommend installing Migrator for Sametime web reports on 64-bit operating systems. 70
