4 5. Hardware Installation STEP 1: Installing the Switch on a DIN Rail or Wall Refer to the illustrations below to mount the switch on a DIN rail or wall. DIN Rail Wallmount Figure 2. DIN rail or walllmount installation. Page blackbox.com

5 STEP 2: Network connection. The switch provides standard Ethernet ports. According to the link type, the switch uses CAT3, 4, 5, 5e UTP cables to connect to any other network devices (PCs, servers, switches, routers, or hubs). Refer to the user manual for cable specifications. STEP 3: Wiring The switch supports dual redundant power supplies. The connections for PWR1, PWR2, and RELAY are located on the terminal block. Figure 4. Terminal block. STEP 3A: Insert the negative/positive wires into the V+/Vterminals, respectively. STEP 3B: To keep the DC wires from pulling loose, user a small flat-blade screwdriver to lighten the wire-clamp screws on the front of the terminal block connector. Relay contact The two sets of relay contacts on the 6-pin terminal block connector are used to detect userconfigured events. The two wires attached to the fault contacts form an open circuit when a user-configured event is triggered. If a user-configured event does not occur, the fault circuit remains closed blackbox.com Page 5

6 Grounding Grounding and wire routing help limit the effects of noise due to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Run the ground connection from the ground screws to the grounding surface prior to connecting devices. Figure 3. Power connection guide. After installing the switch, the green Power LED should light. (1) Ring Master LED Lights when Ring is enabled. Blinking when ring structure is broken. (1) Fault LED Power failure or port disconnected. (1) PoE LEDs Lights when the port is using PoE+. 10/100/1000BASE-T(X) Gigabit PoE ports: LINK/ACT LEDs ON when the port link is connected. Blinking when data is being transmitted. Speed Lights green when port link speed is 1000 Mbps. Lights amber when port link speed is 100 Mbps. OFF when port link speed is 10 Mbps. SFP ports: LINK ACT LEDs Lights when port link is connected. 8 5. Configuration 1. Launch Internet Explorer and type in the IP address of the switch. The default static IP address is Login in with the default user name and password (both are admin). The following screen appears. For more information on configuring or operating the switch, see the user manual. Figure 5. Login screen. Resetting To reboot the switch, press the Reset button for 2 3 seconds. To restore the switch configurations back to the factory defaults, press the Reset button for 5 seconds. Page blackbox.com
