3 Chapter 1. Introduction Congratulations on choosing our graphics accelerator cards! These cards come fully featured with an impressive list of components including the most advanced memory innovations, AGP 8X/ 4X compatibility, and a full complement of connectors. These cards also feature nvidia's latest and most advanced GeForce GPUs. These GPUs come with a highly integrated suite of hardware technology and software applications designed to match the intensity and complexity of even the most demanding PC games. System Requirements Computer System Pentium, Pentium II, Pentium III, AMD-K6, Athlon, or higher processor-based computer system with AGP interface VGA/Super VGA monitor, supporting minimum 640x480 resolution Operation Environments To take advantage of this AGP card 2x/4x mode, you must use Windows XP/2000/ME/ 98/ 95/ NT 4.0 or later version Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3.0 update or later. (The Service Pack update is offered at Microsoft website.) Supports High Resolution graphics modes 1

5 Chapter 2. Hardware / Software installation Hardware Installation Please follow the steps below. 1. Shut down the computer and remove the computer case. 2. Remove any existing graphics card on your mainboard. 3. Press this AGP card into the AGP slot firmly and make sure it is fully installed. (If you are installing the FX5200I card, press it into the PCI slot firmly). Then secure the card with a bracket screw. 4. Please insert other cards, plug all the cables, install other devices, and close the computer case. 5. Turn on the computer. You are ready to install the driver. Please go to software installation section. 3

6 Back Panel connectors This section describes the connectors on your Graphics Card. Note that your card may vary slightly from the diagram below depending on the model. VGA Output Connector This connector is a standard DB 15-pin, VGA (Virtual Graphics Array) connector used to attach directly to a VGA compatible CRT or LCD monitor. Simply attach your monitor cable to the VGA output connector on the card, making sure that it is secure before applying power. Refer to your monitor manual for further information on how to adjust your picture within the display. S-Video Output Connector The S-Video output connector is used to send video signals to S-Video compatible display devices. S-Video technology uses separate channels for color and brightness providing sharper, clearer images for display devices. Connect the S-Video cable to the card and the display device, making sure that both ends are secure before you power on the system and monitor. DVI Connector The DVI (Digital Visual Interface) connector uses DVI technology to provide high speed digital video signals for digital display devices such as flat panel LCD displays. Connect the monitor cable to the DVI connector on the card and make sure it is secure before turning on the power. 4

7 Video Input & Video Output You can use the S-Video connector to send and receive video signals to and from video devices that use standard AV cables such as Video Cam Recorders or DVD Players. However, you must use the VIVO cable which is supplied in the packaging when your card supports Video Input, Video Output functionality. At one end of this cable is the S-Video connector that you attach to the card. The other end will have up to 4 connectors which may include one or all of the following connectors: S-Video-In, S-Video-Out, Video-In (AV), and Video-Out (AV). Attach AV video devices to either the Video-In connector or Video-Out connector depending on your needs. (VIVO Adaptor) (S-In/Out & AV-In/Out) Note: In order to use the Video-In functionality, you must have installed the WDM (for VIVO use) drivers from the Setup CD-ROM (see software installation section). If you are only using Video Out functionality, you do not need to install the drivers. Also note that you must use the audio connectors on the mainboard to transmit audio signals. 5

8 Software Installation Place the Setup CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. The auto-run program will automatically execute and display the main screen (as shown above). Use your left mouse button to click on any of the option buttons to execute one of the functions as described below. Detonator XP Driver - Install the official NVIDIA driver. WDM (For VIVO only) - Driver of Video-In function Overclock Tools - Install to adjust VGA clock frequencies Browse CD - Click to browse the entire directory structure of this CD-ROM. DirectX - Install the Microsoft Developer Multimedia libraries. Acrobat Reader - Install the Acrobat Reader software. Exit - Exit the Setup program. 6

9 A. Install Detonator XP Driver The Detonator XP Driver is the official NVDIA driver. When you click this button, the program will automatically detect your operating system version and begin the installation procedure. This driver will optimize and enhance your video graphics. (For FX series cards, install the driver newer than 43.03) Step 1 Click the "Detonator XP Driver" button to go to a driver list screen, choose one to install. Read readme.txt in the CD for more. Step 2 Click the "Next" to continue with the installation. 7

10 Step 3 This screen signals the completion of the installation. Select "No" to restart your computer at a later time. Then press "Finish". Step 4 Press the "Overclock Tools" button to continue with the configuration. 8

11 Step 5 When this window displays, double click this icon. Step 6 Press "Yes" to update the registry entries. Step 7 Choose this to restart your computer. 9

12 B. DirectX Installation DirectX is a set of Multimedia libraries developed by Microsoft. By using the DirectX software you can enhance your system providing advanced multimedia features. The latest DirectX version brings you the most recent 3D technology, supporting most on-line games and multimedia applications. DirectX also provides advanced audio features. Step 1 Click the "DirectX" button to install the DirectX. Step 2 Click the "Yes" to confirm the installation. 10

13 Step 3 Press "Yes" to accept the licensing. Step 4 Installation is in progress. Step 5 Press "OK" to restart your computer. 11

14 C. Configuring the display. This section will describe the video card/ display configurations using, as an example, a FX5200 VGA card with a Windows XP operating system. This section only provides general information for each screen. Access the NVIDIA website for additional information and tutorials on configuring the nview system. 1. Begining with the "Start" button and select --> Setting --> Control Panel --> Display. The screen below will display. Press the Settings tab to continue the instructions. 2. When the "Settings" information appears, adjust the Screen resolution,color quality, etc. by your need. Then press the "Advanced" button to next step. 12

15 3. On the next screen, press the GeForce FX 5200 Ultra tab which will display the screen below. There will be a "Media Center Menu" next to it; by clicking the options in the menu you can configure many other settings, such as Direct3D, OpenGL, Clock Frequency, etc. Click the "NVIDIA on the Internet" button, several buttons will bring you to NVIDIA Web site for more information. 4. On the "nview Display Mode" screen, if you installed multiple displays, the "Horizontal span", "Clone" and "Vertical span" radio buttons will be selectable. This step configures multiple display options. If you are not configuring two displays, skip this step. Note: 1.The nview function can onlytransmit two video signals to two displays at the same time. 2.You can see only one of the displays functioning in step4. The priority displays are: CRT (DB 15-pin) > LCD (DVI) > TV (S or AV). < < < <-- <

Click the "Detect Displays" button to auto detect the displays you have installed If you decide to switch the primary display between the displays installed, click "Device Settings" --> "Select Output Device" Click the "Horizontal span" radial button to split your screen horizontally, placing one half in one display and the other half in the other Click the "Clone" radial button to an exact copy of your screen in each of the two displays Click the "Vertical span" radial button to split your screen vertically, placing the top half in one display and the bottom half in the other. 5. You can configure Direct3D Settings, OpenGL Settings, Overlay Control, Desktop Utilities, NVRotate and Temperature Settings by selecting their respective tabs. Select those options in each screen that suit your needs. 6. If you choose "Clock Frequencies" tab, you can adjust the video card clock speed to overclock your video card. There is a risk of damaging the video card when overclocking. Proceed at your own risk. We are not responsible for any damages to your system from overclocking. 14

17 D. nview Desktop Manager nview Desktop Manager supports both single-display and multi-display configurations running with single-display, multi-display, or multiple graphics cards based on NVIDIA GPUs. You can configure the extended desktop for convenience and preference. 1. Beginning with the "Start" button and select --> Setting --> Control Panel --> NVIDIA nview Desktop Manager. The screen below will display. 1. Click the "Enable nview Desktop Manager" check box and click "Apply" to enable the Desktop Manager, there will be tabs to adjust as the below left screen. Click also the "Show Advanced nview controls" check box and click "Apply", there will be more tabs to select like the below right screen. 15

18 E. NVIDIA nview Setup Click the Wizard button on the nview Desktop Manager Info screen, the NVIDIA nview Wizard which will assist you in configuring nview options. NVIDIA nview can enhance your 3D graphics as well as configure multi-display environments. NVIDIA's nview also includes many other additional features. Read the detail information on each screen and follow the steps below: Step 1 - Introduction Step 2 - Oveview Step 3 - Enable nview 16

21 Step 10 - Window Effects (Fast Window Maximize) Step 11 - Finish The installation is now complete. Press the "Finish" button. Note: The preceding instructions are for a standard installation. In each step of the installation process, there are other options you can select to enable or disabled specific functionality depending on your needs. 19

22 Chapter 3. Troubleshooting Before proceeding, we recommend you verify that your mainboard is fully installed by verifying that all of the drivers for your mainboard that came with your installation CD-ROM are loaded. If you are encountering technical difficulties, browse the list below to see if any of the suggestions are applicable. The monitor is blank when the computer boots up. > Make sure the card is properly seated in your AGP slot or PCI slot. Try removing the VGA card and then reinserting it back into the slot, pressing firmly until the card snaps into place. > Make sure your monitor is connected to VGA card and the monitor power cable is connected to an outlet. > Make sure the mainboard power cables are connected. > Make sure that power to the monitor is turned on when your system is powered on. How can I know the drivers and the BIOS version of my VGA card? > You can determine the driver version of your VGA card by clicking the Start button, pointing to Settings option, and selecting the Control Panel folder. In the Control Panel window, double-click on the Display icon to display the Display Properties window. And you will get more information. Why I can not change the resolution settings on my computer? > Make sure that the appropriate drivers have been installed for your VGA card and monitor. > Make sure the software has been correctly installed. > Make sure that the resolution you configured matches the monitor supported resolutions.
