One Gateway can control an unlimited number of controllers in it s wireless range. At minimum, an installation will require one Gateway and one controller. The primary difference between Residential and Professional systems is that the latter offers greater zone capacity and wireless range. Professional controllers are ruggedly designed for commercial applications where the controller is mounted outdoors. Residential controllers, on the other hand, are designed to be installed indoors and to accomodate a wireless range typically sufficient for home use. 5 Gateway (All XCI Controllers) Cyber-Rain smart controllers receive system settings and weather updates via the Gateway. The Gateway plugs into an available ethernet port on your internet router and wirelessly communicates with the controllers within its range. Residential Gateways have a wireless range of approximately 250 ft whereas Professional Gateways have a range extending upward to 3 miles.
