1 Press Release VPCW21EAG/WI Hong Kong, February 8, 2010 Sony is introducing the eco-friendly VAIO W Series, which features a number of environmentally friendly elements in its design, production and packaging. The Green PC VPCW21EAG/Wl helps reduce CO 2 emissions through the use of recycled plastic in the production process. Designed for a true mobile experience, the VPCW215AG/L incorporates a WWAN module and 6-cell battery enabling an extended battery life. Users can now browse the internet or enjoy social networking for longer. Notebook goes green The new VAIO W Series is both user-friendly and eco-friendly. Approximatly 80% of the total plastic parts used in the top cover, palm rest and cover of the W Series is recycled. The type of recycled plastic used in the W series contains 20% reprocessed plastic from DVD and CD waste. By using recycled plastic parts, carbon dioxide emissions in the production process are reduced by 10% compared to using non-recycled plastic. 1

2 The packaging of the VPCW21EAG/WI has been specially designed with an eco-friendly approach in mind. Customers will receive this notebook in a carry bag instead of the traditional cardboard box packaging, which doubles up as a protective case for the notebook. This unique packaging is both stylish and environmentally friendly as the carry bag is partially made from recycled plastic bottles with part of its exterior fabric made of 100% recycled PET material. Also, the revised Recovery and Trouble Guide has been produced with less paper used than the ordinary guide. Committed in helping address climate change, Sony is cooperating with the WWF-Hong Kong and donating HK$200 for each unit of the VPCW21EAG/WI sold at the Sony Style stores. At the regional level, additonal US$10 for each unit of the VPCW21EAG/WI sold in the Asia Pacific region will be donated to the WWF. Enhanced mobile experience The enhanced W series features a 10.1" wide (WXGA: 1366 x 768) TFT colour display which allows users to enjoy a comfortable viewing experience on the go. It also comes with an energy efficient Atom Processor N450, 250GB hard disk, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150, and is compatible with the Memory Stick Duo PRO-HG memory card. The VPCW215AG/L is equipped with a WWAN module and 6-cell battery enabling users to browse the internet anywhere, for longer periods of time. The Internet can be accessed at home or on the go, making the notebook truely mobile. Stylish colours to suit all tastes For those who appreciate a green lifestyle, the VPCW21EAG/WI is the perfect choice with its white finish, mint green palm rest and patterned touch pad.
