1 Table of Contents PART 1 Before Getting Started: Part 1 Before Getting Started: Pages 1-4 Part 2 Getting into Stoneware, Maestro, and Buzz: Pages 4 13 Part 3 Getting into Burlington English: Pages ) Make sure that your system meets all minimum technical requirements and specifications (see Student-Parent Handbook). 2) Make sure you can communicate with your teacher by having access to a working account. a. Accounts like gmail.com and hotmail.com are recommended. 3) Set up a signature on your that will include your full name and your school name. If you need help setting this up, please contact your instructor. 4) Create or add your instructor to your Skype account. 5) Install the browser plugin: a. Chrome: gfhh?hl=en b. Firefox: 6) Visit the Stoneware webpage at and get acquainted with all of its features and capabilities. (you will need to log in using a provided username and password) Downloading Skype: Save the Skype Setup Application to your computer. 2. Find and double click the Skype Setup file then follow the simple steps to complete the installation.

Launch the Skype application and sign in with your Skype Name and password Creating A Skype Account: Go to Create an account Enter your name and address. 3 1) Enter your profile information. 4 2) Enter a Skype Name. This is the name your friends will use to contact you on Skype. a. Please make sure to use your correct name so your instructor can identify you. Important: After you have created your Skype Name, you cannot change it. 5 3) Enter the password you want to use to sign in to Skype. Your password is case sensitive, needs to be between 6 and 20 characters, and needs to contain at least one letter and one number. 6 4) Enter the security words displayed in the box. This just verifies that you re a real person. 7 5) Read the Skype Terms of Use and the Skype Privacy Policy, then click I agree Continue. Adding Contacts to Skype: 1 1) Sign in to Skype. 2 2) In the menu bar, click Contacts > Add Contact...

3 3 3) In the search field, enter the address, full name or Skype Name of the person you want to add, and then click Find. 6 4) Now you need to send the person a contact request. Enter some text to introduce yourself and click Send. 5) The contact is added to your contact list, but will appear offline until they accept your request. When they have accepted your request, you can see when they are online, and make free voice calls and video calls with them. Calling/Messaging Your Instructor 1. In Skype, click the Contacts tab Find the person you want to call Click the contact. You will see their details in the main window.

4 4 4. Click Call. 5. The screen changes color, a call bar appears near the bottom of the screen and you will hear ringing until the other person answers If you don't hear the other person or they can't hear you, click the call quality icon in the call bar (you may have to move your mouse to make the call bar appear). Part II: Getting Into Your Courses: 1. Log in using your username and password. If you are a returning student, this is the username and password that you used last year. If you are a new student, these were given to you when you took the Dual Diploma admissions test.

5 2. If this is your first time logging in, you will be prompted to answer a series of challenge questions. Select and answer these questions, then select Update Configuration" 3. You will be notified that you can have additional functionality with the Stoneware webagent until you check the box to not display again and select Ok. 4. By default, you will also be presented with a help screen, until you check the box to not display again and click anywhere on the screen.

6 5. Locate the top row of icons labeled Default and select Password Manager 6. You will first need to confirm your identity by inputting your password. By selecting the various programs, you can enter your username and password for each of the applications to enable simple-sign-on. When you are finished, make sure to select Update Stored Passwords at the bottom of the screen. **The only username and password you need to enter is for Edmodo, after you create your account**

7 7. To access Maestro from Stoneware, click on Maestro. 8. Once you log in, you will see your dashboard. To update your address, scroll down to My Account under My Settings. This is where you can update your contact information and you can add a picture!

8 9. You can enter your courses directly through Stoneware by clicking on My Courses. 10. Use the Main Menu to access your Buzz tools: Home, Activities (Course Home pages), Performance (Grades), Communication, Calendar, and Help. Your Main Menu tool icons remain active on the left side of the screen to facilitate easy navigation; click the menu to expand it. 11. Use the Course Chooser to access a course's Course Home in the Activities tool.

9 12. Other things available on the home page are: a. Review Announcements for important class information. b. Use the To-do List to see and open upcoming and past-due assignments. By default, the To-do List displays assignments with due dates coming up within seven days. c. Quickly check your current course scores and progress on gradable activities displayed on the Course Cards; select a Course Card to access its Course Home. d. Review your recent activity, starting from the most recent, using the Activity Stream; click the posts to open the activity, badge, or announcement listed. 13. To look at the lessons for your classes from the home screen, click on the class title or view: Visiting your Course Home pages often is the easiest way to keep on top of your classes. Each of your courses has its own Course Home as part of the Activities tool; you can access it in one of the following ways: a. Select the course s Course Card from the Home page. b. Select Activities from the Main Menu when you re in the desired course; if you re not already in a course, you will have to select the course you want.

10 14. On a Course Home page you can: a. Review course announcements in the top left of the screen. b. Review, open, and complete (where allowed) upcoming and past-due activities in the To-do List below Announcements. By default, the To-do List displays assignments with due dates coming up within seven days. c. Check your current course score. 15. Review your course actions, starting from the most recent, using the Activity Stream; click the posts to open the activity, badge, or announcement listed. If your teacher has provided feedback, you can open it from here as well.

11 16. To submit an assignment: Dropbox submissions allow you to attach files and enter text into an editor. To complete a dropbox submission: a. Click Show Dropbox with the activity open. b. Attach a document from your computer. c. Add comments using the text editor. d. Click Save if you want to edit and submit later or click Submit.

12 17. To Check Your Grades: The Performance tool enables you to track your progress in many specific areas. To view your progress, open the Performance tool from the Main Menu. If you are enrolled in multiple courses and have all courses selected in the Course Chooser, Buzz shows you an overview of your progress in all of your courses and past courses, including: a. Your Self Assessment heart indicator for each course; click them to make changes. b. Your overall score. c. Your overall progress on completing gradable activities. d. Your overall progress on completing all activities. 18. To view detailed progress in a course, open the Performance tool from the Main Menu and click the course or select it from the Course Chooser. Here, you find: a. The Grades view, which shows you your overall percentage; your percentage of completed gradable activities, overall activities, and quizzes; and the due date, submission date, status, and your individual score on every graded activity. You can choose to view the information organized by Periods and Categories or Syllabus Order. From this view, you can also print your grades. b. The What If view, which helps you calculate possible grade outcomes. c. The Activity view, which displays each activity you ve worked in, when you started working on it, and how long you ve spent in it. d. The Badges view, which displays any awards you ve earned. e. To see feedback on a specific assignment, click on the assignment name.

13 Part III: Getting Into Burlington English (English I and English II students ONLY): To set-up Burlington English, you will first need to download the program. 1) Go to: and follow the instruction to download the program to the desktop of your computer. 2) Once you download the program, you will see the Burlington icon appear on your desktop. Please double click on it to start the program. 3) Plug your headset into one of your computer.

14 4) When you enter Burlington, you will be asked to log in. You will log in using the username and password that have been ed to you by Burlington English. If you did not receive an , contact your instructor. 5) When you log in, you will see the screen below. You will then enter into the Everyday English course that you have been assigned by your teacher. 6) When working in your Burlington English class, please make sure to complete all of the situations in each module for full credit.

15 7) If you have any questions about your progress in Burlington English, you can click on the Progress tab to see what assignments you have completed and your grade. You can also contact your instructor via or Skype. 8) You can access Burlington English from Buzz by clicking on the Burlington icon (globe) in the top left hand corner of the screen:
