2016 Inforce Computing. Do NOT Copy/Distribute without prior written permission Embedded. Connected. Aware. SW Delivery Process February 2016
BSP Delivery The overall BSP package which is downloaded from the Inforce Techweb repository (accessible once board is registered), consists of Open Source drivers and OS source downloaded from codeaurora.org git via correct.xml tag for the distribution (via fetchsrc_and_build script provided by Inforce) Proprietary IP drivers binary/libraries delivery in the BSP download as a.zip file; extracted and placed in appropriate folders by fetchsrc_and_build script; this includes» GPU» Camera» HW video encode/decode» Sensor HAL» WLAN/BT (firmware and some settings/apis)» GPS DSP firmware(e.g., some audio codecs) placed by a separate script that loads the meta binaries (including the NON-HLOS/rpm/tz binaries) Inforce-added drivers provided in source as patches, extracted and placed by fetchsrc_and_build script Lower-level boot-loaders are proprietary and are not distributed in source; ONLY provided on the board or in encrypted update package (for updates across Android releases). The exception is the kernel bootloader ( emmc_appsboot.mbn ) which is included in source. 2
Building Android BSP Images for Inforce Platforms Build script made by Inforce Computing (based on QC script) Inforce Computing Patches (Open Source) All proprietary code as libraries Techweb Package Start Run fetch and build script Script fetches Open Source baseline from Code Aurora Forum Applies Inforce Open Source patches Copy these files to appropriate folders Code Aurora Forum Anyone can access Build Images 3
Building Android BSP Images for Inforce Platforms 4 Not open source, we are not mandated to supply Mostly GPLv2 source, we are mandated to supply QC/Other proprietary, Inforce cannot supply source Open source, customers download themselves Build script made by Inforce Computing Inforce Computing Patches (Open Source) All proprietary code as libraries.xml manifest for Open source baseline branch from Code Aurora Forum Techweb Package If build with only build will succeed, but board will not boot. If build with 2 and 4, build will fail. If customer builds with all 4 components, a fully working binary can be generated. Note: Most boot loaders/metabinaries are proprietary, normally provided as directly flashed on board, and not provided as source. 4
Building Ubuntu Linux BSP Images for Inforce Platforms Prebuilt Kernel with Inforce patches applied packaged as Boot image Ubuntu core packages and minimal lightdm shell environment GUI packaged as Developer image Kernel bootloader image (emmc_appsboot.mbn) Start Flash these images directly to Inforce platforms Extract kernel sources Binaries Compiler tarball Install the compiler, device tree and other tools required for compilation 5 Kernel build scripts, dtbtool etc. (skales.zip) Utilities to pack/unpack image files (android-tools-fsutils) Source build Techweb Package Perform a build that will generate the boot image
Build Environment Basic build environment Ubuntu or (LTS) OS on PC Open Source Tools and Java SDK installation, as described in Android Programming Guide document, available on Inforce Techweb 6
