3 CASCADING STYLE SHEETS (CSS) CSS CONVERSION Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used to implement a style (colors, fonts, etc.) to a web site. Significant enhancements have been made to the design and layout of the Relius Web v The look and feel has been modernized, and newer programming has been implemented. The Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) files that are installed as part of the stock Relius Web product have already been updated for you. If your Web site is using custom CSS files, they must be converted to be compatible with version The conversion should occur immediately after you have upgraded to version 18.0 and before you turn the site back on for Participant, Plan Sponsor and/or Advisor use. Please see Appendix for complete instructions for converting your custom pre 18.0 CSS file to be compatible with version SCREEN STYLE ENHANCEMENT The screen style editor has been enhanced to allow gradient styling capabilities. The use of gradients is a way to improve your site appearance and can be used to: Soften areas that would otherwise be a flat color/tone. Fade a color into a lighter or darker tone. Create an illusion of distance/depth. Within the style editor selection of a gradient option will present a dialogue that will allow you to enter a start and end color as well as provide an example of how the color selections will appear on the web:

4 Listed below are the areas in the style editor which allow you to assign a gradient color style: Top Menu Top Menu Top Menu Main Page Main Page Main Page Main Page Login Form Login Form Node Element Options Group Menu Item Current Group Menu Item Table Header Table Sub Header Information Box General Box Header Login Form Boxes Page Footer CUSTOM TEXT BUTTONS Relius Web 18.0 supports the ability to control the text displayed within all buttons throughout the site via custom text and the ability to manage the appearance of the buttons via a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS). To enable this feature you will set the value of Common > USECSSBUTTONS = Y via Custom Text. Once this value is set the buttons throughout the site will display the ALT text from custom text. For example in the custom text string below the button text will be obtained from the value specified by the ALT text. All buttons utilized by the site have a default value assigned to the ALT text. If you wish to change the text displayed for a button you will modify the ALT text value: <img src="graphics/buttons/submit.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="submit"/> The CSS file that controls the appearance of the buttons is located on the Web server in the \\inetpub\wwwroot\reliusweb\css-files\button.css file. The default appearance of the buttons when you choose to display the text from custom text will be as follows: The appearance of the buttons can be modified by editing the file referenced above.

Existing elements will display the contents populated prior to the upgrade in the location specified in the screen image above. 14 APPENDIX Converting Custom CSS Files Locate and copy your custom CSS files from the Web server, usually located in C:\InetPub\WWWroot\ReliusWeb\CSS-Files, to a Relius Administration Workstation. Within Relius Administration, click Utilities VRU/Web Administration Web Customization Screen Styles. Click File Open and browse to the location of custom CSS file. Once the file has been opened two messages will appear indicating that both the Internet Explorer and Netscape versions of the CSS files have been converted to version

15 The conversion is complete. Repeat these steps for any other custom CSS files you may have. Copy the two files back to your Web Server. ASP Customers Custom CSS file conversion is done on your behalf by the Relius ASP team.
