4 Overview What is it? The Local Indicator application serves as a tool to capture the indicators for each school in the state along with the possible points and points earned. This information will then be fed to the Plan 2020 Accountability (P2A) application for analysis and then sent back to ALSDE via a web service for use in the A-F Report Card application. The application is housed in the AIM portal ( and uses groups in the Education Directory (Ed Dir) to identify the types of users who will have access to the application. As with all AIM applications, users must have an active AIM account and will need to be placed in the proper groups to see the application. Application Permissions The LEA superintendent or designee is responsible for assigning LEA staff members access to the through the Education Directory (Ed Dir). You can find a list of the Local Indicator application s ED Dir roles below. Roles with the Primary Key Contact suffix are LEA level and grant users the ability to see information for all schools in their district. Roles with the School suffix are school level and only grant users access to see information for schools to which they are assigned. Adding a user to any of these roles will give the user access to that section of the application at the level assigned. 5 1. How do I get started? To begin you must have login permission to access the AIM: ALSDE Identity Management Portal located at Once you have an account created and have been approved for access you will need to login. After you have successfully logged into AIM you will see the Local Indicator application tile in your application list on the main home page. Click the Local Indicator Tile: Upon entering the application, you will be presented with a screen similar to the one below. At the top of the screen you will find the menu bar and just below the menu to the left you will see the System Selection area. At the bottom of the page you will find a data grid containing the indicator points earned by each school and by the LEA. 5
6 System Selection Select a School Year, School System and School from the System Selection parameter area to view indicator point information for the selected criteria. Select the 0000 record in the school dropdown to see information for the entire district. LEA Users: LEA user will only be able to see information for their LEA and schools State Users: State users can see information on any LEA and school. To see a state level view of the data, state users should select All School Systems from the School System dropdown and All Schools from the Schools dropdown. Data Grid Sorting - The grid allows you to sort data displayed within an unlimited number of columns. The column's current sort order is indicated by a sort glyph ( ) displayed at the column header's right edge. If the column isn't sorted, the sort glyph is hidden. Click the column's header to sort data against a data column or change the column's sort order. To sort data against multiple columns, click column headers with the SHIFT key pressed down. = Descending = Ascending = No Sorting Filtering - The Filter Row allows an end-user to filter data by typing text directly into the row. For instance entering 0010 in the filter row for School will filter the grid for school with 0010 only. To remove filtering from the grid, delete the value entered in the filtering row. 6
7 Exporting - All data from the grid can be exported into a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet by clicking the Export to XLS button on the grid. A box will display with instruction on how to export the data. The data can be opened into a spreadsheet or saved in a file choose and click OK. 7
8 2. Local Indicator View (Default) By default, all users with access to the will receive access to the Local Indicator view. As mentioned earlier in the document, there are three sections of the Local Indicator view: the menu bar, the system selection area and the data grid. Once you have made your selections from the System Selection area, they data grid will be populated with the indicator information for the selected criteria. The grid contains the following fields Column Name School Year System Code School Code School Name Indicator Code Indicator Name Possible Points Baseline Measurable Objective Met Goal Indicator Points Description School year for with the indicator information was entered Unique state assigned identifier for the LEA State assigned identifier for the school. This value combined with the System Code equals a unique value. Name of the school Default identifier entered by the ALSDE Name of the indicator. Entered by the ALSDE Maximum number of points that can be earned for the indicator Total number of points received by the school/lea in the category. Maximum points available = 25 Total number of points received by the school/lea in the category. Maximum points available = 25 Total number of points received by the school/lea in the category. Maximum points available = 50 Total points received by the school/lea for the indicator. Sum of the Baseline, Measurable Objective and Met Goal categories 8
