3 Compliance and Remediation Statement for Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act for OpenText Application Governance & Archiving for Microsoft SharePoint This statement describes the compliance of OpenText Application Governance & Archiving for Microsoft SharePoint 10.4 with the United States Rehabilitation Act Section 508 Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Standards. This product is a consolidation of existing OpenText products formerly named OpenText Content Lifecycle Management for Microsoft SharePoint and OpenText Case Management for Microsoft SharePoint, and hereafter referred to as OpenText AGA for Microsoft SharePoint, a software product from OpenText. The description of OpenText AGA for Microsoft SharePoint 10.4 compliance with Section 508 is presented in the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) format. 5 (b) Applications shall not disrupt or disable activated features of other products that are identified as accessibility features, where those features are developed and documented according to industry standards. Applications also shall not disrupt or disable activated features of any operating system that are identified as accessibility features where the application programming interface for those accessibility features has been documented by the manufacturer of the operating system and is available to the product developer (c) A well-defined onscreen indication of the current focus shall be provided that moves among interactive interface elements as the input focus changes. The focus shall be programmatically exposed so that Assistive Technology can track focus and focus changes (d) Sufficient information about a user interface element including the identity, operation and state of the element shall be available to Assistive Technology. When an image represents a program element, the information conveyed by the image must also be available in text. and does not disrupt or disable accessibility features in this capacity. and does not have interactive user interface elements in this capacity. and does not fall under this requirement in this capacity. 6 (e) When bitmap images are used to identify controls, status indicators, or other programmatic elements, the meaning assigned to those images shall be consistent throughout an application s performance (f) Textual information shall be provided through operating system functions for displaying text. The minimum information that shall be made available is text content, text input caret location, and text attributes (g) Applications shall not override user selected contrast and color selections and other individual display attributes (h) When animation is displayed, the information shall be displayable in at least one nonanimated presentation mode at the option of the user. and does not use images in its user interface in this capacity. and no textual information is conveyed within the application in this capacity. 7 (i) Color coding shall not be used as the only means of conveying information, indicating an action, prompting a response, or distinguishing a visual element (j) When a product permits a user to adjust color and contrast settings, a variety of color selections capable of producing a range of contrast levels shall be provided (k) Software shall not use flashing or blinking text, objects, or other elements having a flash or blink frequency greater than 2 Hz and lower than 55 Hz (l) When electronic forms are used, the form shall allow people using Assistive Technology to access the information, field elements, and functionality required for completion and submission of the form, including all directions and cues. and does not use color coding to identify information, indicate an action, prompt a response, or distinguish a visual element in this capacity. and does not allow the user to select color schemes other than the default setting in this capacity. and does not contain flashing or blinking text, objects, or other elements in this capacity. and does not contain electronic forms in this capacity. 8 Section Web-based Intranet and Internet Information and Applications Criteria Supporting Features Remarks and Explanations (a) A text equivalent for every non-text element shall be provided (e.g., via alt, longdesc, or in element content). with Minor Exceptions This requirement is met with only a few minor exceptions. A text equivalent is provided for all non-text elements except for the following: Document icons that indicate a document is a shortcut or that a document is checked out. Icons that indicate an Audit Report s type status does not include a text equivalent (b) Equivalent alternatives for any multimedia presentation shall be synchronized with the presentation (c) Web pages shall be designed so that all information conveyed with color is also available without color, for example from context or markup (d) Documents shall be organized so they are readable without requiring an associated style sheet. This exception may affect users with vision difficulties or impairments, including those using assistive technology. SharePoint contains no multimedia presentations. This requirement is fully met. All information conveyed through color in OpenText AGA for Microsoft SharePoint is available in an alternate format. This requirement is fully met. 9 (e) Redundant text links shall be provided for each active region of a server-side image map (f) Client-side image maps shall be provided instead of server-side image maps except where the regions cannot be defined with an available geometric shape (g) Row and column headers shall be identified for data tables. There are no server-side image maps used within OpenText AGA for Microsoft SharePoint. There are no client-side image maps used within OpenText AGA for Microsoft SharePoint. 10 (h) Markup shall be used to associate data cells and header cells for data tables that have two or more logical levels of row or column headers. with Exceptions This requirement is met with only a few exceptions. All data cells contain mark up to associate them with all relevant row and column headers except for the following: On the Content Type Mappings page from the Site Settings page and from the OpenText AGA tab from the Central Administration site a complex data table is used. This table lacks the appropriate mark up for a complex data table. An experienced screen reader user will likely be able to discern and use this table. Less experienced users will find it difficult (i) Frames shall be titled with text that facilitates frame identification and navigation (j) Pages shall be designed to avoid causing the screen to flicker with a frequency greater than 2 Hz and lower than 55 Hz. Not applicable This exception will likely affect users with vision difficulties or impairments, including those using assistive technology. This requirement is fully met. All frames are titled with unique text to facilitate frame identification and navigation. There is no refreshable content, such as flashing or blinking objects, controls, or multimedia, within OpenText AGA for Microsoft SharePoint. 11 (k) A text-only page, with equivalent information or functionality, shall be provided to make a Web site comply with the provisions of this part, when compliance cannot be accomplished in any other way. The content of the text-only page shall be updated whenever the primary page changes. A text-only page was not necessary to provide an accessible experience. 12 (l) When pages utilize scripting languages to display content, or to create interface elements, the information provided by the script shall be identified with functional text that can be read by assistive technology. with Exceptions This requirement is only partially met. The following major scenarios are not supported: The Enterprise Library Search Results Webpart uses an OnChange event for the SELECT control to automatically invoke an action instead allowing the user to invoke the action at will. The row level drop menus for selecting actions in the Enterprise Library Webpart cannot be expanded using only the keyboard. The user must select the item or items by selecting the appropriate check box and then use the Action menu at the top of the Webpart to invoke the action. The row level drop menus for selecting actions in the LiveReports Webpart cannot be expanded using only the keyboard. This prevents a user from accessing the available actions for these items. The Audit Report, Manage Configuration Properties, and Configuration Property pages use an OnChange event for the SELECT controls to invoke an action automatically instead allowing the user to invoke the action at will. 13 (m) When a Web page requires that an applet, plug-in or other application be present on the client system to interpret page content, the page must provide a link to a plug-in or applet that complies with Section (a) through (l) (n) When electronic forms are designed to be completed online, the form shall allow people using assistive technology to access the information, field elements, and functionality required for completion and submission of the form, including all directions and cues. with Exceptions No applets, plug-ins, or other applications are required to interpret OpenText AGA for Microsoft SharePoint content. This requirement is only partially met. The following major scenarios are not supported: Form controls within the Enterprise Library Advanced Search Webpart are not labeled adequately. Adding a new item using the Site Groups and SiteTypes Library pages contains some input controls that are not labeled properly. The Audit Report page has input controls that are not labeled properly. The page for adding a new Configuration Property contains some input controls that are not labeled properly. 14 (o) A method shall be provided that permits users to skip repetitive navigation links (p) When a timed response is required, the user shall be alerted and given sufficient time to indicate more time is required. SharePoint is a Webpart for Microsoft SharePoint. It does not have a method to skip repetitive navigation links. A method is provided that permits users to skip repetitive navigation links within Microsoft SharePoint. SharePoint does not have any features that require a timed response. Section Functional Performance Criteria Criteria Supporting Features Remarks and Explanations (a) At least one mode of operation and information retrieval that does not require user vision shall be provided, or support for Assistive Technology used by people who are blind or visually impaired shall be provided. This requirement is fully met. SharePoint provides one or more mode(s) of operation and information retrieval that either does not require user vision or that provide support for assistive technology used by people who are blind or visually impaired. This requirement is fully met. SharePoint provides one or more mode(s) of operation and information retrieval that either (a) use audio and enlarged print output that does not require visual acuity greater than 20/70, working together or independently, or (b) provides support for assistive technology used by people who are visually impaired. This requirement is fully met. SharePoint provides one or more mode(s) of operation and information retrieval that either do not require user hearing or that provide support for assistive technology used by people who are deaf or hard of hearing. This requirement is fully met. SharePoint provides one or more mode(s) of operation and information retrieval in an enhanced auditory fashion, or provides support for assistive hearing devices. Product support documentation is provided at no additional charge but user registration is required on the site to access support documentation. OpenText AGA for Microsoft SharePoint is developed under design guidelines that are aimed specifically at ensuring on-going Section 508 compliance. Non-compliant areas are considered defects that will be tracked and resolved through our normal maintenance processes.
