The analyzer unit utilized is to be operated with a voltage of 85 VAC VAC (50 Hz...60 Hz ) (Connection terminal 47 "L",terminal 48 "N"). The read head is connected to terminals 1 to 4 (terminal 1: Supply voltage plus, terminal 2: "Direction", terminal 3: "Data",terminal 4: Supply voltage minus). More detailed information regarding the connection and installation of the device can be found in the handbook of Pepperl+Fuchs GmbH. In the following example, the device address is set to 3 by means of the front side DIP switch (switches 1 and 2 "on"). The analyzer unit is connected to the PROFIBUS DP Master/Slave interface by means of the 9-pole Sub-D connector. If the analyzer unit is the last device on the bus branch, then the bus moving load must be switched on. The bus terminal can either be switched on at the bus plug or at the analyzer unit (rotary switch 9 at the housing side "on ). 2. Hardware configuration 2.1 Installation of the GSE file The standard GSE file must be installed first. To do so, the hardware configuration of your SIMATIC 300-Station must be opened. Under menu item "Extras install new GSE", you can integrate the GSE file in your STEP7 software. After installation of the GSE file, menu item "Extras update catalog" should be called up. 2 7/2000
3 3. PROFIBUS DP Configuration 3.1 Add users The PROFIBUS DP interface must be installed as the DP master. After the PROFIBUS DP bus cable has been set up, the analyzer unit can be placed on it. In the hardware catalog under menu item "PROFIBUS-DP additional field devices general you can now select the IRI- KHxx-4HB6. Click the device with your left mouse button, hold down the button, drag the device to the bus cable of the DP master system, and then release the mouse button. The user address for the PROFIBUS should be entered in the menu which now appears. It must correspond to the address set at the device by the DIP switches (in our example "3" ). At this point the desired analyzing unit should appear as a symbol on your bus cable. 3 7/2000
4 3.2 Organization of data/addresses Click on the symbol for the analyzer unit on the bus cable. In the hardware catalog you can choose from among three sub-items in the listing of the IRI-KHxx-4HB6. First click with the left mouse button on sub-item "20 Bytes Input", hold down the mouse button, drag the mouse arrow to the 0 slot and release the mouse button. Following this and by the same principle, you then put sub-item "2 Bytes Output" in slot /2000
5 The I/O addresses are automatically put on the next free periphery addresses by the STEP7 software. The user can change these addresses. A double click on the respective line opens a window, by means of which the addresses can be transposed. In the example illustrated here the input addresses lie between Since the output data consists of only two bytes, it is possible to assign this address area directly over the output area. This is why the start address was set to /2000
6 3.3 Diagnosis address By double-clicking on the slave symbol at the bus cable, a properties window for the PROFIBUS slave opens. Here the diagnosis address for requesting diagnosis data and the settings of the slave (analyzing unit) are identifiable. The meaning and application of the diagnosis address will be explained later. 4. Software 4.1 Modules and their function With consistent data transfer of from 3 bytes or more than 4 bytes, existing function modules must be used. (!) Modules utilized: Module Designation Description SFC 14 System function Reads in consistent data of a DP norm slave SFC 13 System function Retrieval of diagnosis data of a DP norm slave OB 82 Organization module Called up when a diagnosis alarm of a module appears, so that CPU does not switch into STOP status. OB 86 Organization module Called up upon failure of an expansion device, a DP 6 7/2000
7 master system or a device found at the PROFIBUS DP (e.g. by failure of the supply voltage), so that CPU does not switch into STOP status. OB 100 Organization module Called up upon every new start-up of the CPU, sets all markers to the start position "0. DB 1 Data module Saves read data of the analyzer unit DB 2 Data module Stores diagnosis data OB 1 Organization module Cyclical program flow VAT 1 Variables table Online control of the ID system by means of the PROFIBUS DP 4.2 Data exchange First of all, the IRI-KHA6-4HB6 is initialized. The transmitted command (2 bytes = 1 word ) is compiled in the following way: Word 0 Commands and Parameters Bit No Designation B4 B3 B2 B1 DS K3 K2 K1 T Binary value Hexadecimal value Bit 15 to 12 determines the desired command. The sequence 0011 stands for Buffered Auto Read Fixcode. You will find a detailed explanation of the commands in the handbook for the IRI-KHA6-4HB6. - Bit 11 switches on the "Doubleside-Mode" here set to 0. - Bits 10 to 4 have no significance and are set to /2000
8 - Bits 3 to 1 determine which read head is to be addressed.. The sequence 100 activates all connected read heads. - Bit 0 is the "Toggle flag". To submit a new valid command to the analyzer unit, this bit must be changed ("toggled"). This bit must be set to 1 upon initial sending of a command. More detailed explanations for setting up commands and the meaning of the individual bits can be found in the handbook. For reading in of data from the analyzer unit, the system function SFC14 is called up. The start address of the inputs of the PROFIBUS slave is a required parameter. This address is to be indicated as a hexadecimal indicator (W#16#... ). In our example, the start address is 304. Hexadecimal thus results in the address 130hex. The return value RET-VAL contains an error code. If no error occurred during transfer, the return value contains the sequence You can find a detailed description of the error code in the reference handbook entitled "System Software for the S7-300/400, System and Standard Functions" by Siemens. The goal of the data is to be given as an additional parameter. In our example the term "P#DB1.DBX0.0 byte 20", means that the goal of the data module DB1, beginning with the offset 0.0 and a data field length of 20 bytes, has been selected. Data module DB1 must be laid out ahead of time in a byte structure and at the correct length. The first four bytes are occupied by the command being reported back, the number of the assigned head, the execution counter and the status. The read data of the analyzer unit thus begin with the fourth byte. 8 7/2000

The diagnosis address is required here as the start address. In this case, the address is given as Hexadecimal results in the address 3FEhex. 9 7/2000
10 Here, too, the return value contains an error code. In the event that no error occurred during transfer, the return value contains the length of the read data in bytes. You will find a detailed explanation of the error codes in the reference handbook entitled "System Software for S7-300/400, System and Standard Functions" by Siemens. The diagnosis data is stored in the data module DB2. The goal of the data is indicated at the SFC14. In any case, 19 bytes are now transferred. This data module must also be set up ahead of time. The first 6 bytes are occupied by the station status, the master station number and the manufacturer identifier. Starting at the 7th byte, the slave-specific diagnosis data is transmitted. The analyzer unit described here deals with 13 bytes. Contained therein, for example, are the device identifier and the designation of the software of the bus and ID system. 11 4.4 Program control by means of a variables table Communication with the ID system can be tested with a variables table set up ahead of time. 11 7/2000
12 By setting the bit 0 in marker byte MB1, the one-time retrieval of diagnosis data is activated. Additional commands can be transmitted to the IRI-KHA6-4HB6 by means of the AW10. For each new command which is to achieve validity, the toggle flag (Bit 0) must be changed. DB1.DBB 0 to DB1.DBB19 contain the PROFIBUS DP input data. -{}-DB2.DBB 6 to DB2.DBB 18 contain the read-in slave-specific PROFIBUS DP diagnosis data. The marker words MW10 and MW20 contain the error codes of the system functions SFC 13 and SFC 14, as already described. 4.5 Additional information In a program designed to take over the evaluation of the extracted data, there are a few basic considerations which are meaningful. If possible, there should always be an inquiry made as to the execution counter. If the revisions to read data are the only information to be considered, then certain errors - the carrying out of a command, for example - are more difficult to recognize. The status indicator, which is transmitted along with the newly read data each time, is also important. The status indicator, for example, could identify a failed reader head, immediately.
