Wired PS Check has been removed from the menu. The ZebraNet b/g Print Server is now supported for the S4M, ZM400/ZM600 printers. The ZebraNet Internal Wireless Plus Print Server option board firmware has been updated to version Issues Corrected Adjustments to the LEFT POSITION setting on the front panel will now be applied to the next label sent to the print engine. The S4M and ZM400/ZM600 will no longer pause after extended usage ZIH Corp. All product names and numbers are Zebra trademarks, and Zebra and the Zebra logo are registered trademarks of ZIH Corp. 2 2 Summary of Firmware E E Release Date: 21 September 2010 This firmware includes all features of previous E53.17.x releases. None Issues Corrected The printer shall now retain the Q value after a power cycle. A "0" will no longer be added to a Code 128 the barcode when the data stream is "<T>". The print position on S4M and 2746e shall now be the same when using black marked media. E Release Date: 02 September 2009 This firmware includes all features of previous E53.15.x releases. Media power up now defaults to no motion On the ZM400/ZM600 printers the printserver web pages are now available when the internal printserver is used. On the ZM400/ZM600 printers FTP is now available when the internal printserver is used. On the ZM400/ZM600 printers SNMP is now available when the internal printserver is used. On the ZM400/ZM600 printers SMTP is now available when the internal printserver is used. The ZPL Code Validation feature is turned on by default, for more information on this feature see the documentation in the ZPL manual on the ^CV command. Added device.printhead.coldwarning command to control the Head Cold warning. Default is OFF L /31/2011
3 Summary of Firmware E B 3 Issues Corrected The OS command will now correctly reverse the transmissive (gap) sensor's normal operation. to the Tear Off setting on the front panel will now be saved and used in printing. Serial handshaking performance improved at higher baud rates. Formats using a PDF417 barcode will encode a backslash (\) correctly. A barcode will no longer print if no data is provided for the barcode. RS-232 handshaking has been corrected. Barcodes will no longer truncate at the right edge of the label. Tear Off value no longer reverts to zero when exiting the menu. Labels print in correct order when using counter values in the format. Code 128 Auto barcodes will now print when the data contains an F1. Maxicode will now allow a nine digit zip to have a comma as a separator between the first five digits and the last four. A Maxicode barcode format will print when a zip code begins with a zero. The f command will now take priority over the front panel Tear Off setting. Formats containing a single double quote will now print correctly. Memory management enhanced to reduce need to run defragmentation routine. Stored templates will now consistently print. Conflicts can exist between the Symbol LA-4137CF and some Cisco Access Points. This is characterized by the RF card reaching the Maximum Retry timeout. Conflicts can exist between the B Symbol LA-4137CF and G support on some Access Points. One potential work-around is to disable G support on the Access Point. It is recommended to set WPA Handshaking to It is recommended to disable the Aironet Extensions. It is recommended to use Cisco Access Point firmware 12.3(8)JAE1 or later. 08/31/ L-007
6 6 Summary of Firmware E The Code 93 Barcode now prints correctly with full ASCII data strings. Adjusting the Left Position setting on the front panel now adjusts the position of the printed image. E Release Date: 13 August 2007 E50 has been changed to E53. This firmware includes all features of previous E50.13.x releases. Support added for: The graphic display on the ZM400/ZM600 printers (ability to display Japanese, Simplified & Traditional Chinese, Korean) The Internal Wired Print Server on the ZM400 and ZM600 models The Wireless Plus Print Server on the S4M, ZM400, and ZM600 models, with the ability to use the following wireless securities - dependent on the PCMCIA based RF card used (see the Wireless Plus manual for full details and configuration commands): WEP 40 BIT WEP 128 BIT PEAP WPA PSK WPA2 PSK (no key rotation) WPA PEAP WPA LEAP Kerberos The User Selectable Primary Print Server which allows the user to configure the printer determines which print server type - wired or wireless - to use as the Active Print Server at power up. Available on the ZM400/ZM600 and for use with the wired and wireless print servers. Controlled via the Front Panel and Set/Get/Do commands*. A Network configuration label on ZM400 and ZM600 that can display details on the External Wired, Internal Wired or Wireless print servers The ability to display the Active Print Server on the front panel and network configuration label 14328L /31/2011
7 Summary of Firmware E The OC command is interpreted on a format by format basis. In some cases, if later formats contain a different value for the p1 (cut quantity) parameter than earlier formats, the printer may use the value from an earlier format. When using counters in QR Code fields, the printer may use data from an earlier counter value in a later printed code Additional Set/Get/Do commands to configure and get status on the printer and print servers* * See the latest EPL manual (available at for complete details on new commands. The S4M now responds to the receipt of Q command in the same way as the 2736e The S4M now responds to KDU serial number prompts The FR command now functions in the same way it does on a 2746e Printing a batch of labels with time stamps now functions in the same way as it does on a 2746e Printers using E53.15.x firmware will process labels with both R and q commands in the same format in the same was as a 2746e does Maxicode will appear on label when postal code is less than 9 digits. Autofr now functions on S4M, ZM400, and ZM600 printers in the same as it did on the 2746e The internal print server on the ZM400/ZM600 and the wireless print server on E53.15.x-based printers does not support FTP, UDP, SNMP, IPP (port 631) or Web (port 80) E Release Date: 14 July 2006 This firmware release is for all S4M (203 dpi) printers. It includes features of previous V50.13.x releases. The S4M now reports back to the host when the US command is used. 08/31/ L-007
