2 Introduction GRANTA MI from Granta Design is the leading materials information management software system for engineering enterprises. GRANTA MI meets the disparate needs of the materials experts, product designers, engineering analysts, data publishers, and other professionals who work with information related to metals, composites, ceramics, plastics, and other materials. GRANTA MI:Materials Gateway enables data and tools from GRANTA MI to be accessed from within CAD, CAE, and PLM software. Users can access and browse a corporate materials database (and/or Granta-supplied reference data on materials properties), choose applicable materials, and assign those materials to parts within their design or simulation model. A variety of analytics, dashboard, reporting and data output tools are available, depending on the host system and the GRANTA MI modules licensed for your corporate installation. GRANTA MI:Materials Gateway for Pro/ENGINEER is an application running within the design and simulation software from Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC). Scope of these Release Notes These Notes are for Version 1.5 of MI:Materials Gateway for Pro/ENGINEER, which supports Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4 and Wildfire 5 (the latter also known as Creo Elements/Pro). However, we have included all enhancements since Version 1.3 for the convenience of those who may not have installed the previous version. These enhancements are made available by installing Version 1.5 you do not need to also install the intermediate Version 1.4. Version 1.5 of MI:Materials Gateway for Pro/ENGINEER was created to take advantage of new functionality in GRANTA MI Version 6: Multi-value attributes enabling the storage of numbers or text values where the material property varies with conditions or other parameters. Cross-database reporting the ability to include in reports data from more than one database, as enabled by the Integrated Databases capability. In addition, Version 1.5 includes enhancements introduced in Version 1.4: Enhanced overall performance. Capabilities supporting design and engineering workflows, including the automatic insertion of materials information on drawing notes, and the ability to output the updated Bill of Materials resulting from MI:Materials Gateway assignments and analyses. A range of enhancements supporting the installation and administration of MI:Materials Gateway, including support for the Integrated Windows Authentication security tools. The table shows which enhancements will be of interest to particular interest groups.

4 Installing MI:Materials Gateway for Pro/ENGINEER Follow the installation instructions available with the download, using the alphanumeric key from your company s GRANTA MI license agreement. It is likely that your deployment will follow procedures relating to deployment and support of the host CAD or CAE system. You must ensure that you have obtained and installed MI:Service Layer before installing and using this update. MI:Materials Gateway requires Gateway-ready versions of GRANTA MI databases. This is a straightforward configuration, which is done already for Granta-supplied reference data modules. If you are accessing Granta reference data modules and wish to take advantage of the latest data and features, you should also ensure that you have installed the latest version of this data that is compatible with your GRANTA MI version

Enhanced window management The Gateway window is now managed by Pro/ENGINEER, for example when minimizing or being in front, giving a more intuitive user experience Previous enhancements in Version 1.4: Upgraded Gateway core Upgraded to the latest MI:Materials Gateway core and MI:Service Layer versions, with the benefit of cumulative functionality and performance enhancements. MI 5 database support Ability to operate with GRANTA MI Version 5 integrated databases, including browse and search, to take advantage of the flexibility provided by multiple databases. Version Control support Ability to open version-controlled databases, and display/assign latest version of materials. Enhanced performance Generally enhanced responsiveness, in particular on initial start-up. Support for User Profiles Supports the flexibility offered to GRANTA MI users through the use of Profiles. XML report generation option Flexibility to define reports for output in readily machine-consumable XML, as an alternative to PDF. Text attributes, e.g. for 2D drawings Flexibility to define text attributes populated from the GRANTA MI database as part of the material assignment process, which can be persisted through to notes on 2D drawings.
