Before you use this version in a live network, back up the configuration and test the version to avoid software upgrade affecting your live network. List of resolved problems Resolved problems in E2418 CPLD file fixes uplink module power sequencing. CPLD file fixes UID behavior. Resolved problems in R2417 CVE Symptom: CVE Condition: When an OpenSSL SSL/TLS/DTLS server receives a session ticket the integrity of that ticket is first verified. In the event of a session ticket integrity check failing, OpenSSL will fail to free memory causing a memory leak. By sending a large number of invalid session tickets an attacker could exploit this issue in a Denial of Service attack. SSL 3.0 Fallback protection Symptom: SSL 3.0 Fallback protection. Condition: OpenSSL has added support for TLS_FALLBACK_SCSV to allow applications to block the ability for a MITM attacker to force a protocol downgrade. Some client applications (such as browsers) will reconnect using a downgraded protocol to work around interoperability 5

10 CVE bugs in older servers. This could be exploited by an active man-in-the-middle to downgrade connections to SSL 3.0 even if both sides of the connection support higher protocols. SSL 3.0 contains a number of weaknesses including POODLE (CVE ). Symptom: CVE Condition: When OpenSSL is configured with "no-ssl3" as a build option, servers could accept and complete a SSL 3.0 handshake, and clients could be configured to send them. Symptom: The CLI might be halted and not respond for tens of minutes. After the port linkmode command is executed on an interface to change its link mode, the display interface command cannot display the interface. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following conditions exist: The switch is in an IRF fabric and is connected to other devices through aggregate interfaces to form an RRPP network. About 40 RRPP domains are created. The shutdown and then undo shutdown commands are repeatedly executed on the aggregate interfaces. The port link-mode command is repeatedly executed on the interface to change its link mode. Symptom: After the switch is rebooted, the operation of canceling SPBM-related configurations does not take effect. Condition: This symptom occurs after the following procedure is performed: a. The switch is enabled with SPBM and configured with some SPBM features. b. The configuration is saved. c. The switch is rebooted. Symptom: IPv6 routes do not take effect. Some unknown Layer 3 unicast packets cannot trigger ARP entry learning. Condition: This symptom occurs after the switch is changed to the switch-mode 4 mode. Symptom: An IRF fabric cannot be rebooted. Condition: This symptom occurs after the following procedure is performed: a. Execute the mac-address notification mac-move suppression command on the IRF fabric. b. Save the configuration and reboot the entire IRF fabric. Symptom: When multicast traffic is forwarded between sub VLANs, the forwarding entries still exist after sub VLANs are dissociated from its super VLAN. Condition: This symptom occurs after the following procedure is performed: a. Configure a super VLAN and associate it with sub VLANs. 6

11 b. After sub VLANs receive multicast traffic, the debug ipmc show entry all command shows that forwarding entries have been set up. c. Dissociate the sub VLANs from the super VLAN. d. The display multicast forwarding-table command shows that the forwarding entries for the sub VLANs have been deleted. The debug ipmc show entry all command shows that the forwarding entries still exist. Symptom: The automatic configuration feature in HTTP Python method cannot be used. Condition: This symptom occurs if the following conditions exist when you configure the DHCP server on the switch: The DHCP server address pool has the address of the TFTP server. The DHCP server has an automatic configuration file in the HTTP Python method Symptom: After the master/subordinate switchover in an IRF fabric, aggregation group member ports cannot become Selected. Condition: This symptom occurs after the following procedure is performed: a. In the IRF fabric, configure link aggregation to collaborate with BFD on all aggregate interfaces. b. Perform a master/subordinate switchover in the IRF fabric. Symptom: The Tcl script cannot be executed correctly on the switch. Condition: This symptom occurs when the Tcl script to be executed contains two or more continuous new lines. Symptom: The track status of a TRILL port is different from the status of the associated track entry. Condition: This symptom occurs after the following procedure is performed: a. Associate the TRILL port with a track entry. b. Restart the TRILL protocol. Symptom: Incomplete greeting (MOTD) banner is displayed when a console user logs in an IRF fabric through a console port. Condition: This symptom occurs if you perform the following steps: a. Use the header motd command to configure a greeting banner after logging in through the console port. b. Log off the console port. c. Log in again through the console port. Symptom: The UID LED on an IRF subordinate device cannot blink. 7

12 Condition: This symptom occurs if the subordinate device is upgraded with the software images of the master device by using the boot-loader update command. Symptom: The value read from the hh3cifpktbuffree MIB object is not the same as the remaining buffer size displayed by using the display buffer usage command. Condition: This symptom occurs if you use the display buffer usage command and a MIB tool to obtain the remaining buffer size. Symptom: Hosts cannot ping the gateway when primary and secondary VLANs are configured. Condition: This symptom might occur if the following steps are performed: a. Configure the VLAN interface for the primary VLAN, and bind the interface to a VPN instance. b. Associate the primary VLAN with a list of secondary VLANs by using the private-vlan command. Symptom: The packet filter on a VLAN interface filters Layer 2 traffic. Condition: This symptom might in either of the following situations: The packet-filter filter route command, and then the packet filtering rules are configured when the VLAN interface is up. The packet-filter filter route command, and then the packet filtering rules are configured when the VLAN interface is down. Then, the VLAN interface is brought up. Symptom: The device does not forward spanning tree protocol BPDUs without processing them when the spanning tree feature is disabled. Condition: This symptom occurs when the spanning tree feature is globally disabled Symptom: The display interface command shows that the maximum frame length setting is However, the maximum length of frames that can pass through is only Condition: This symptom occurs if the command is used in Layer 2 interface view to prevent jumbo frames to pass through. Symptom: The QoS priority set for voice traffic by using the voice-vlan qos command does not take effect. Condition: This symptom occurs if the lldp tlv-enable med-tlv network-policy vlan-id command has been configured to advertise voice information through LLDP/CDP. Symptom: The packet statistics feature cannot work correctly for Ethernet service instances created on a Layer 2 aggregate interface that uses multichassis aggregation on the S6800 IRF fabric. 8

13 Condition: This symptom occurs if a subordinate device reboots. The packet statistics feature will be unable to count the traffic that pass through the member links on the subordinate device. Symptom: In an OpenFlow network, the switch is repeatedly connected to and disconnected from the controller. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following conditions exist: The controller deploys a flow table to the switch. The default action for the table-miss flow entry is changed to send packets to the controller. The flag is set to send_flow_rem for the table-miss flow entry. Workaround: None. Symptom: Two TRILL access switches become AVFs at the same time, and loops occur. Condition: This symptom occurs when a network segment connects to the TRILL network through two RBs and the Hello interval is set to 255 seconds. Workaround: Decrease the Hello interval. Symptom: In the output from the display version command, WarmReboot might be displayed for the Reboot Cause field, which should be UserReboot. Condition: This symptom occurs when you use the reboot command to reboot the switch and then execute the display version command. Symptom: Some ports specified in a group table cannot forward traffic. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following conditions exist: A controller deploys flow tables and group tables. Master/subordinate switchover is performed in an IRF fabric Symptom: When you delete the specified flow entry, another flow entry is deleted by mistake. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following conditions exist: The controller deploys two flow entries with the same destination MAC address but different VNIs. Delete a flow entry specified by its address ID Symptom: A device cannot be pinged when it is directly connected to an aggregate interface. Condition: This symptom occurs if TRILL is enabled (trill enable) and then disabled (undo trill enable) on the aggregate interface. Symptom: In an OpenFlow network, the switch might lose connectivity to the controller. 9

14 Condition: This symptom might occur if the Layer 3 interface connected to the controller is repeatedly shut down and brought up. Symptom: The State field displays Absent in the output from the display device usb command. Condition: This symptom might occur when the following conditions exist: Multiple switches form an IRF fabric. A USB flash drive is inserted into an IRF member switch. The display device usb command is executed after the IRF fabric is rebooted Symptom: The BFD session stays in down state on a GRE tunnel interface. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following conditions exist: The switch runs OSPF and establishes connections to other devices through the active GRE tunnel. BFD is enabled for OSPF on the GRE tunnel interface Symptom: The Port and protocol VLAN supported field displays No in the output from the display lldp local-information interface command. Condition: This symptom occurs if the lldp tlv-enable dot1-tlv protocol-vlan-id command has been configured on the specified Layer 2 Ethernet interface. Symptom: The output from the display qos-acl resource command shows that the remaining VFP resources are oversized. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following procedure is performed: a. Create plenty of Layer 3 Ethernet subinterfaces, so that VFP resources are 100% used. b. Create a VLAN instance, and bind it to Layer 3 Ethernet interfaces. Symptom: The CLI is stuck. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following conditions exist: Based on the 10-GE interface numbers starting from 1, each four interfaces are assigned to a group. Some interfaces in a group are bound to IRF ports, and the other interfaces in the group are assigned to a service loopback group. Symptom: MPLS-TE RSVP tunnels cannot come up correctly. Condition: This symptom occurs after MPLS-TE RSVP Tunnels are established. Symptom: The global BGP timer does not take effect. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following procedure is performed: 10

15 a. Configure the timer for a specific BGP peer and configure the global timer. b. Use the undo peer timer command to restore the default timer for the peer. c. Execute the reset bgp all command. Symptom: BGP learns routes very slowly. Condition: This symptom occurs after MPLS-TE RSVP tunnels are established. Symptom: An IRF fabric splits. Condition: This symptom occurs if SPBM is disabled when the IRF fabric is receiving traffic from the SPBM network. Symptom: The OperMau field displays Speed(0)/Duplex(Unknown) in the local or neighbor LLDP information of a 10-GE copper interface. Condition: This symptom occurs if the local or neighbor LLDP information is displayed for the interface. Symptom: A 40-G interface cannot be configured to operate in half duplex mode through CLI, but it can be configured to operate in half duplex mode through netconf. Condition: This symptom occurs when netconf is used to configure the 40-G interface to operate in half duplex mode. Symptom: The zone default-zone permit command configuration might fail to be deployed to some VSANs. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following conditions exist: Multiple switches form a network. Reboot all switches in the network Symptom: After the screen disable command is executed, if the display copyright command is executed for multiple Telnet clients at the same time, the remaining CPU decreases and the switch reboots. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following procedure is performed: a. Start the Telnet server, and connect 20 Telnet clients to the server. b. Execute the screen disable command for each client, and then execute the display copyright command. Symptom: The switch is in an SPBM network, and untagged frames are not correctly matched on an interface. Condition: This symptom occurs if the switch is restarting or the frame match criterion of the Ethernet service instance is modified on the interface. 11

16 Symptom: The CLI responds slowly. Condition: This symptom occurs when the priority-flow-control no-drop dot1p or undo priority-flow-control no-drop dot1p command is executed on an Ethernet interface of an 5930 switch. Symptom: After the switch is rebooted, RRPP port state errors occur. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following procedure is performed: a. Ports A1 and A2 of device A and ports B1 and B2 of device B form a loop. The link A1-B1 is in forwarding state, and the link A2-B2 is in blocked state. b. Shut down port A1 of device A. Then, the link A1-B1 changes from the forwarding state to the blocked state, and the link A2-B2 changes from the blocked state to the forwarding state. c. Reboot device B. After device B is rebooted, the two links are both blocked. Symptom: The ACL resources used by RRPP cannot be released. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following procedure is performed: a. Configure plenty of RRPP domains in an IRF fabric. b. Save the configuration and reboot the switch. c. Delete RRPP configurations. Symptom: The switch cannot obtain the asset information of a power module when the display device manuinfo command is executed. Condition: This symptom occurs if the power module is not manufactured by FSP. Symptom: The memory allocation request fails when the switch sends packets. Condition: This symptom occurs if the switch is in an IRF fabric and an interface on the switch is repeatedly brought up and shut down. Symptom: A transceiver module might report a FASTDOWN event. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following procedure is performed: a. Split a 40-G fiber interface into four 10-G breakout interfaces, and bind these 10-G breakout interfaces to IRF ports. b. Install an Avago transceiver module in the 40-G fiber interface and reboot the switch. Symptom: A directly connected device cannot be pinged. Condition: This symptom occurs when MPLS is enabled on multiple VLAN interfaces. Symptom: Error messages similar to the following messages appear. 12

Condition: This symptom occurs when the following procedure is performed: a. Use two switches to form an IRF fabric. b. Fully configure the VLANs and VLAN interfaces on the IRF fabric. c. Use the info-center enable command to enable the information center. d. Save the configuration. e. Use the shutdown command on the IRF physical ports to cause an IRF split. f. During the IRF split process, use the undo shutdown command on the IRF physical ports to make the switches form an IRF fabric again. g. Delete VLANs. Symptom: When a command is entered at the CLI, the serial port does not respond. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following procedure is performed: a. Start the switch with a configuration file containing Layer 3 subinterfaces. b. Use the configuration replace file xxx.cfg command to roll the configuration file of the switch back to a configuration file that does not contain Layer 3 subinterfaces. Symptom: In an IRF fabric, the console port of the master member device might not respond, and the subordinate member devices might fail to start correctly. Condition: This symptom occurs when the IRF fabric is restarted. Symptom: When MAD is available, the output from the display mad verbose command shows that the MAD status is Faulty, and the output from the display bfd session command shows the session state is down. The MAD state and the session state are incorrectly displayed. Condition: This symptom occurs when BFD MAD is configured. Symptom: The output from the display ip routing-table statistics command shows that the number of active routes cannot reach 128K. Condition: This symptom occurs when the following procedure is performed: a. Use the switch-mode 4 command to change the operating mode of the switch and restart the switch. b. Add 128K route entries to the routing table. c. Use the display ip routing-table statistics command to display the route statistics. Symptom: The basic features of QCN cannot be used. Condition: This symptom occurs when QCN is configured on the switch. 13

18 Symptom: The USB flash drives cannot be used. Condition: This symptom occurs when the switch has loaded the release E2413. Symptom: The system does not provide prompt information when the number of ARP/ND entries has reached the upper limit. Condition: This symptom can be seen when the number of ARP/ND entries has reached the upper limit. Resolved problems in E2407 First release. 26 Appendix B Upgrading software Software upgrade enables you to have new features and fix bugs. Before performing an upgrade, use the release notes for the new software version to verify software and hardware compatibility and evaluate upgrade impacts. Software types The following software types are available: BootWare image A.bin file that contains a basic segment and an extended segment. The basic segment is the minimum code that bootstraps the system. The extended segment enables hardware initialization and provides system management menus. You can use these menus to load software and the startup configuration file or manage files when the device cannot start up correctly. Comware image Includes the following image subcategories: Boot image A.bin file that contains the Linux operating system kernel. It provides process management, memory management, file system management, and the emergency shell. System image A.bin file that contains the software feature modules for device operation and network services, including device management, interface management, configuration management, and routing. Patch packages Irregularly released packages for fixing bugs without rebooting the device. A patch package does not add new features or functions. Comware software images that have been loaded are called "current software images." Comware images specified to load at the next startup are called "startup software images." BootWare image, boot image, and system image are required for the system to work. These images might be released separately or as a whole in one.ipe package file. If an.ipe file is used, the system decompresses the file automatically, loads the.bin boot and system images, and sets them as startup software images. Typically, the BootWare and startup software images for the device are released in an.ipe file. Software file naming conventions Software image file names use the chassis-comware version-image type-release format, for example, moonshot-45xgc-cmw710-boot-e2418.bin and moonshot-45xgc-cmw710-system-e2418.bin. This document uses boot.bin and system.bin as boot and system image file names. Comware image redundancy and loading procedure You can specify two sets of Comware software images: one main and one backup. 22

27 The system always attempts to start up with the main images. If any main image does not exist or is invalid, the system tries the backup images. Figure 1 shows the entire Comware image loading procedure. If both of the main and backup boot images are invalid or unavailable, connect to the console port and power cycle the device to access the BootWare menus for loading a boot image. To access the Comware system from the emergency shell, you must connect to the console port and load a system image. For more information about using the emergency shell, see HP MOONSHOT Blade Switch Series Fundamentals Configuration Guide. You must reboot the entire device to complete the upgrade. This method fixes software defects without requiring a system reboot. Make sure the patch packages match the current software images. A patch package fixes bugs only for its matching software image version. Use this method when the switch cannot start up correctly. CAUTION: Upgrade an IRF fabric from the CLI rather than the BootWare menus. The BootWare menu method increases the service downtime, because it requires that you upgrade the member switches one by one. 24

29 Upgrading from the CLI This section uses a two-chassis IRF fabric as an example to describe how to upgrade software from the CLI. If you are upgrading a standalone switch, ignore the steps for upgrading the subordinate switch. If you have more than two subordinate switches, repeat the steps for the subordinate switches to upgrade their software. For more information about setting up and configuring an IRF fabric, see HP MOONSHOT Blade Switch Series IRF Configuration Guide. NOTE: The output in this document is for illustration only and might vary with software releases. Preparing for the upgrade Before you upgrade software, complete the following tasks: Log in to the IRF fabric through Telnet or the console port (details not shown). Upgrading BootWare from the BootWare menus Use one of the following methods to upgrade the BootWare image from the BootWare menus: Using TFTP to upgrade through the management Ethernet port Using FTP to upgrade through the management Ethernet port Using Xmodem to upgrade through the console port For more information about BootWare, see "Error! Reference source not found.." NOTE: The switch does not come with FTP or TFTP server software. Prepare the software yourself. Upgrading through an Ethernet port is faster than through the console port. Using TFTP to upgrade through the management Ethernet port This upgrade procedure uses the switch as a TFTP client.
