November 3, 1994 IMPORTANT PRODUCT INFORMATION READ THIS INFORMATION FIRST Product: Logicmaster Software Package Version 5.01 Programmer and Configurator IC641SWP713C 3.5-inch HD, 5.25-inch 2S/HD (TCP/IP Ethernet) Release 5.01 of the Logicmaster programmer and configurator software package provides logic programming and configuration for the Series PLC. Beginning with Release 5.00, Sequential Function Chart programming capability is available by ordering the desired Logicmaster communications version and the SFC Programmer Option diskette (IC641SWP731). Refer to New Features Introduced in Release In addition, Release 5.01 of the Logicmaster programmer and configurator software package corrects problems that existed in Release 5.00 or earlier software. These problems are listed in Problems Resolved by Release Logicmaster TCP/IP Ethernet software allows communication to the Series PLC using the Series Ethernet module. It provides the same features as the Release 5.00 WSI and Standard Serial COM Port versions of Logicmaster software, except that communication to the PLC is not supported under Windows 3.x. Version 1.08 of the Network Utilities Software and Version 1.28 of Logicmaster TCP/IP Ethernet software (IC651ENS042) for the GEnet Ethernet Controller are provided with this release. Release 5.01 of Logicmaster TCP/IP Ethernet software requires a Release 4.12 or later Series CPU and EM7 module(s) with Version 1.15 EPROM and 1.28 RAM software. However, some new features found in Release 5.01 of Logicmaster software require an upgrade of CPU firmware to Release 5 to be fully available. If a Genius Bus Controller is used with this release of Logicmaster software, the Genius Bus Controller must be Release 3.0 or later. For more information, refer to Using Release 5 of Logicmaster Software with Release 5 or Earlier Series CPUs. Operational Notes 1. Compatibility with Earlier Releases: Folders created with all earlier releases of Logicmaster software are upwardly compatible. Folders created with Release 5.01 of Logicmaster software are fully compatible with Release 4.01 or later of Logicmaster software. CAUTION Once a logic program or configuration is created or modified with Release 5.01 of Logicmaster software, it cannot be used with Release 3 or earlier of Logicmaster software. Also, once a logic program or configuration is stored to a PLC with Release 5.01, the program must not be loaded by a software release earlier than FANUC Replacements

2 Important Product Information If you attempt to use a folder created in Release 5.01 of Logicmaster software with Release 3.02 or earlier of Logicmaster software, one of these two messages will be displayed: Folder contains files which are incompatible with this release. Program file corrupted. Refer to #3 below for a note regarding installation. 2. System Requirements: A. Logicmaster Ethernet software requires at least 600K (614,400) bytes of MS-DOS application memory in order to run. Some folders may require additional memory. If additional MS-DOS application memory is required, system software error ID: 0000 EX: 0000 will occur. Check the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files to remove any device drivers and Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) programs to make more application memory available. Logicmaster software does not require the ANSI.SYS driver. B. Logicmaster Ethernet software will occupy approximately 4 Megabytes of disk space. Please make sure you have adequate space on your disk before attempting to install the software. C. MS-DOS Version 5.0 or higher. D. An or higher computer with at least 2 Megabytes of RAM is required. A minimum of 1024 bytes of Lotus/Intel/Microsoft Expanded Memory (LIM EMS 3.2 or higher) for optimum performance. E /Ethernet Interface. 3. Installation: For detailed instructions on installing Logicmaster software, refer to GFK-0263, chapter 2, Operation, of the Logicmaster TCP/IP Ether net User s Manual, GFK You will be asked to register the software during the install process. If your PC uses the 386MAX memory manager, it may be necessary to manually add the following line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT: SET RTVMEXT=0 Then reboot the PC before executing LM90. Failure to do so may result in Fatal Error messages or other unpredictable operations. The INSTALL disks are copy-protected. Since backup copies of these disks cannot be made, they should be used to install the software and then put in a safe place. NOTE Once the Logicmaster TCP/IP Ethernet software is installed on a disk, you should not attempt to install an earlier release of the Standard Serial COM Port version of Logicmaster software. The Ethernet and Standard Serial COM Port versions share the same directories, and installing an earlier release of Logicmaster software would result in the loss of Ethernet functionality. 386MAX is a trademark of Qualitas, Inc..

Important Product Information 3 4. SFC Programmer Installation: The Sequential Functional Chart (SFC) Programmer (IC641SWP731) diskette updates Release 5 or later of Logicmaster software to provide SFC programming capability. Release 5 or later of Logicmaster software should be installed first. Then, install the SFC Programmer diskette by typing INSTALL. 5. Running Logicmaster Software from a Disk that does not contain the Logicmaster Software: If you need to run Logicmaster software from a disk that does not contain the Logicmaster software, set up the $PLCROOT environment variable in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to point to the location of the Logicmaster software: SET $PLCROOT=(drive ID):\LM90 6. Load/Store May Disrupt Other Communication Links: When loading from or storing to the PLC using the Logicmaster Ethernet software, other communication modules (PCM, CMM, ADC, and Ethernet) may experience delays while communicating to the CPU. In extreme cases where the load or store is very large, a communication error may be returned. If this occurs, a retry of the communications should correct the error. 7. Logicmaster 90 Software Performance: Logicmaster software requires a CONFIG.SYS file with BUFFERS set to at least 15 (BUFFERS=15). To increase performance, the buffers should be increased. If you have MS-DOS 5.0 (or higher) and load DOS High, you can set buffers up to 48. This will help the performance of program searches, program loads, program stores, and other disk operations. Beginning with Release 4 of Logicmaster software, the variable tables that were once in memory have been moved to disk. While up to 5000 nicknames are now allowed in the _MAIN variable declaration table, the performance of Logicmaster software may be affected. For best performance, Lotus/Intel/Microsoft Expanded Memory (EMM) Version 3.2 or higher of at least 1024K bytes and SMARTDRV should be provided. A memory manager is provided with MS-DOS 5.0 (or higher) for a 386 or 486 computer. However, some computers or PC configurations will require a memory manager such as 386MAX, produced by Qualitas, or QEMM-386 or QRAM, produced by Quarterdeck, to provide the maximum amount of memory for Logicmaster 90 and other applications. The Logicmaster TCP/IP Ether net User s Manual, GFK-1029, will assist you in setting up your computer system to run Logicmaster software optimally. FANUC Replacements

4 Important Product Information 8. Using MS-DOS to Copy Folder Files: WARNING Do not use MS-DOS to copy individual files from one program folder to another or to delete files. Doing so may result in corrupted folders. MS-DOS may only be safely used to copy an entire program folder to another program folder of the same name. 9. Serial Printing: The serial ports, COM1 and COM2, can be used for serial printers. Beginning with Release 5, the serial printer port must be configured with the MS-DOS mode command to match the printer settings. For more information, refer to chapter 7, section 1, Printer Serial Port Setup, in the Logicmaster Programming Software User s Manual, GFK PLC Communications Options: If more than one communications option (WSI, Standard Serial COM Port, and Ethernet) of Logicmaster software is installed on the same hard disk, it will be necessary to select which version you wish to run. By default, the WSI version is run. For more information, refer to GFK-0263, Appendix D, Programmer Environment Setup PLC Communications Options. 11. Interaction of Logicmaster Software with Closed Programming Window: If you intend to change the PLC Sweep modes or timers (e.g., Constant Sweep Time, Program Window Times, etc.) while the program window is closed, use Service Request #1 #4. The PLC Sweep Control and Monitor screen from Logicmaster software cannot be used. CAUTION To change PLC modes (e.g., STOP, RUN, etc.) while the programming window is closed, use the CPU switch rather than the Logicmaster software. 12. Determining If an IP Address Has Already Been Used: To determine if you have configured your station (Logicmaster PC or Series TCP/IP Ethernet) with the same IP address as another station, disconnect the station in question from the LAN, then try a PING command to that IP address from another station. If you get an answer to the PING, then the chosen IP address is already in use.

Important Product Information Testing TCP/IP Software After Installation: After installing the Logicmaster TCP/IP Ethernet software, you should verify that communications can be established. To test the TCP/IP software after installation, do the following: First, PING from the PC to the PLC with the following procedure: 1. Determine the IP address of the PLC Ethernet module. Assume for the purposes of this example that the IP address is From the DOS prompt, enter the following command (use actual IP address): C:\> PING The command line display will look something like the following: PING : xx data bytes xx bytes from : icmp_seq=0. time=xxx. ms xx bytes from : icmp_seq=1. time=xxx. ms xx bytes from : icmp_seq=2. time=xxx. ms 4. After five or more lines have been displayed, enter Control-C to stop the PING utility. This will display the PING statistics, which will look similar to the following: PING Statistics xx packets transmitted, xx packets received, xx% packet loss round-trip (ms) min/avg/max xx/xx/xx 5. A correctly functioning PING command will show a zero percent (0%) packet loss. If the PC-to-PLC PING (described above) works successfully, then PING from the PLC to the PC with the following procedure: 1. Determine the IP address of the PC running the Beame & Whiteside Software package. Assume for the purposes of this example that the IP address is To issue a Ping command from the PLC Ethernet module, you must have access to the Ethernet module s Station Manager which you can do by using the GEnet System Manager in Local Station Manager mode (or with a dumb terminal) attached to the serial port of the PLC Ethernet module. From the Local Station Manager (or from a dumb terminal), enter the following station manager commands: 1. Enter the Station Manager login command. This will prompt you for a password. The default password is system. Once logged in, you will be at the Modify level. 2. Enter the Station Manager command ping (except use the actual PC IP address). This will produce PING statistics that look similar to the following: <<< Ping Results >>> Command: ping Remote IP Address: , Sent=1, Received=1, No Response=0 Round-trip (ms) min/avg/max xx/xx/xx 3. A correctly functioning PING command will show the number of Sent and Received packets equal and the No Response field equal to zero. If the PING from the PC works, but the PING from the PLC does not, check to make sure that the IRQ address in your CONFIG.SYS matches the IRQ assignment shown by the BWCUSTOM utility. 6 6 Important Product Information New Features Introduced in Release Sequential Function Chart Programming (SFC): Beginning with Release 5.00, Logicmaster software can be updated to support SFC programming by installing the SFC Programmer Option diskette (IC641SWP731A). A Release 5.0 or later CPU is required for this feature. 2. Parameterized Subroutine Blocks (PSB): PSBs enable you to program logic which needs to be repeated in a user-defined function block. Calls can then be made to that subroutine to access the logic with the desired input and output parameters. For more information on using PSBs, refer to chapter 3, section 9, Parameterized Subroutines, in the Logicmaster Programming Software User s Manual, GFK For information on calling a PSB, refer to chapter 2, System Operation, and chapter 4, section 9, Control Functions, in the Series Programmable Controller Reference Manual, GFK A Release 5.0 or later CPU is required for this feature. 3. PLC Mode Toggle Key (ALT-R) Disable: By default, the ALT-R key sequence is used to toggle the PLC mode between STOP and RUN. However, you can disable the ALT-R from the Logicmaster 90 Setup Package by pressing F9 from the menu of Series 90 PLCs and functions to select the Logicmaster 90 Setup Package. Then, press F1 to select Terminal and Printer Options. Finally, change the Run Mode Toggle Key option to DISABLED. 4. Range, Array Range Instructions: The RANGE function may be used to compare a single input value against two delimiters to determine whether the input value falls within the range of delimiters. The ARRAY RANGE function may be used to compare a single input value against two arrays of delimiters that specify an upper and lower bound to determine if the input value falls within their range. For more information on these instructions, refer to the Series 90 Programmable Controller Reference Manual, GFK A Release 5.0 or later CPU is required for these new instructions Lines/Print Page: The maximum number of lines per page for program printouts has been extended from 80 to 120. For more information, refer to chapter 10, section 1, Printer Parameters, in the Logicmaster Programming Software User s Manual, GFK Save of Print Options to Folder: You can press the Print Save (F10) softkey to save the options selected on the Print Program Logic, Select Cross Reference Options, Print Values, and Print Configuration screens. When F10 is pressed, the screen field contents of the displayed screen are written to a file in the current program folder. For more information, refer to chapter 10, Print Function, in the Logicmaster Programming Software User s Manual, GFK DLAN Interface Configuration and Data Initialization: Configuration support has been added for the DLAN Interface module (IC697BEM763). A new data initialization DLANA instruction allows the configuration of the DLANA Interface module from the logic program. For more information, refer to the Series DLAN/DLAN+ Interface User s Manual, GFK High Speed Counter Configuration: Configuration support has been added for the Series High Speed Counter module (IC697APU700). A Release 5.0 or earlier CPU does not support this module; however, it will be supported in a later CPU release. Consult the IPI for the High Speed Counter module. 9. Expanded Shared I/O Limits for CPU Redundancy: With Release 4.50 of Logicmaster software and a Redundant CPU version earlier than 4.60, the shared I/O data was limited to 16K bytes. With Release 5.0 and a Redundant CPU Version 4.60 or later, you can configure up to 20K bytes of input data (%I and %AI) and 28K bytes of output data (%Q, %AQ, %M, and %R). 10. Third-Party VME Board in I/O Scan: A new I/O SCAN configuration mode is available for third-party VME boards. The new configuration mode provides scan synchronization with the Series PLC. For more information, refer to chapter 11, section 12, Configuring a VME Module, in the Logicmaster Programming Software User s Manual, GFK A Release 5.0 or earlier CPU does not support this module; however, it will be supported in a later CPU release.

Important Product Information 7 Using Release 5 Software with a Release 5 or Earlier CPU Release 5.01 of Logicmaster software was designed and tested to be compatible with a Release 5 or earlier Series PLC CPU, while still providing new Logicmaster software features. However, some new features found in Release 5 of the Logicmaster software will require an upgrade of CPU firmware to be fully available. The result of using these new features with a Release CPU earlier than 5.0 will vary, depending on the feature. Using new Release 5 instructions (function blocks) in a program will result in an error being detected during a store operation of the program to a CPU earlier than Release 5. The following features and functions should be avoided if the program is used with a Release 4 or earlier CPU: 1. SFC and PSB Blocks: Programs that use SFC or PSB blocks require a Release 5.0 or later CPU. 2. New Instructions for Logicmaster Software and CPU Release 5: Using the following instructions will result in a Store aborted; Program in folder uses instructions not supported by PLC error: F. RANGE. G. ARRAY_RANGE. H. SFC_RESET. 3. Timed Interrupts: Timed interrupts may be programmed with this release of Logicmaster software; however, they are not supported in a CPU earlier than Release 4. If a timed interrupt is placed in a program that is stored to a Series PLC, it is ignored by the PLC. Release 4 Series PLC CPUs support timed interrupts. 4. Foreign VME Configuration: Release 4 or later of Logicmaster software allows the configuration of several new foreign VME modes, including NONE, BUS INTERFACE, INTERRUPT ONLY, FULL MAIL, and REDUCED MAIL. Release 5 of Logicmaster software also supports I/O SCAN mode. The Release 5 or earlier CPU supports NONE and BUS INTERFACE modes. INTERRUPT ONLY, FULL MAIL, I/O SCAN, and REDUCED MAIL are not supported. Use NONE mode for a Release 3 or earlier CPU. 5. VME Integrator Rack Configuration: A Release 4 or later CPU is required to support the VME Integrator rack. 6. Single Sweep Debug: A Release 4 or later CPU is required for the single sweep debug (ALT-G) feature. 7. CPU Configuration Parameters: The Series CPU detail screens contain configurable parameters that are not supported by all CPU releases. These parameters are SWEEP MODE, CONSTANT SWEEP TIMER, PROGRAMMER WINDOW TIMER, SYSCOMM TIMER, and PROGRAM CHECKSUM WORDS PER SWEEP. These parameters require the use of a Release 4 CPU. Earlier releases of the CPU will ignore these parameters. NOTE Background timer is only supported by a Release 4.50 or later CPU. Any setting of this timer will be ignored by a CPU earlier than Release FANUC Replacements

8 Important Product Information Problems Resolved by Release Data Zoom: If PLC communications is lost while in a data zoom template (e.g., PID Data Zoom) and the programmer is online, a system error ID: 476 EX: 1567 may occur. You can continue after communication is established with the PLC. 2. Load Config Using WSI Parallel: The configuration load will now successfully complete if an attempt is made to load a configuration greater than 8K from a PLC using WSI parallel. Before this release, the WSI serial or serial COM port versions were required for large configurations. 3. VME Instruction Implicit Search: An implicit search now finds all references used as an output of a VME_RD_BYTE or VME_WR_BYTE instruction. 4. Global Search: All occurrences of a reference will now be found. In some cases, only the first occurrence of a specified reference was found in a rung. 5. Modify Mode Display: Before Release 5.00 of Logicmaster software, the values/states from the PLC were occasionally incorrectly displayed in MODIFY mode. They are now correctly displayed. 6. Search Byte and VME Read Byte Instructions: Previously if a Search Byte or VME Read Byte instruction was displayed, then the values and power flow states of the rung contained the instruction, and all remaining rungs on the screen were incorrect. The values and power flow are now displayed correctly. 7. Search Byte and Array Move Byte Instructions Implicit Search: In the previous release, an implicit search would incorrectly report the use of some implicit references for the Array Move Byte and Search Byte instructions since the search operation interpreted the instruction length as the number of words rather than the number of bytes. This has been corrected. 8. Variable Declarations Exceed: In Release 5.00, when the _MAIN variable declaration table contained more than 2732 entries, the insert, delete, cut/paste, and include operations resulted in the incorrect entries being changed. The correct operation is now performed. 9. PID Data Zoom Bar Graph: The PID Data Zoom bar graph was not displayed properly when the PV and CV values exceeded 328. This has been corrected. 10. SFC Programmer and New Program Block Declarations: While using the Release 5.00 SFC Programmer, new program block declarations could not be entered for some folders created with LM90 software earlier than Release This problem no longer occurs. 11. Redundancy Control Module Transfer Length: Release 5.00 of the Logicmaster Configuration software allowed the RCM transfer lengths to be configured greater than what had been configured in the Memory Allocation of the CPU. The configuration software now prevents this from occurring. 12. Multiple Programmer Attachments to Same PLC: When more than one programmer is attached to the same PLC, only one programmer should be allowed to go ONLINE, the others should only be allowed to go to MONITOR mode. Release 5.00 incorrectly allowed more than one programmer to go ONLINE at the same time. Release 5.01 does not allow more than one programmer to go ONLINE at one time. 13. DLANA Init Instruction: In Release 5.00, the DLANA Init instruction could not be stored to a CPU earlier than Release 5. The DLANA Init instruction can now be stored to a CPU Release 5 or earlier.

Important Product Information 9 Restrictions and Significant Open Problems 1. LM90 Install Using MS-DOS 6.0 or Later: MS-DOS 6.0 or later supports multiple configurations in the same file. However, during an LM90 installation, changes in the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files are only made to the first sections for files, buffers, and the LM90 path. 2. FOR Loop Restriction: Data flow between instructions in a FOR loop must be 16 bytes or less. If you wish to move more than 16 bytes of data between instructions, you should move the output data of an instruction into reference(s) and use the same reference(s) as input to the next instruction. 3. SFC and PSB Side Files: If you attempt to include side files with SFC and/or PSB logic into a folder using a release of Logicmaster software earlier than Release 5.00, a system error will occur. 4. %S Bits and PSB Parameter Restrictions: %S references as bit parameters of a PSB call are only allowed if the bit length is Invalid SFC Element: An SFC step name can only be used in relay ladder diagram (RLD) logic to access the step timer, step fault bits, or step flags. A transition name can only be used to access or set the transition variable. If you attempt to use the step or transition other than as described here, the message Invalid SFC Element will occur. 6. Incorrect Fault Sense: If the minimum or maximum step times are changed while the SFC graph is evolving, an incorrect fault sense (+ or ) may be reported. 7. Force Overridden Bit: If you attempt to force an overridden bit by entering a 0 or 1 from the command line in the reference tables, the bit will not be changed. You must use the toggle key (keypad or F12 key) to toggle the bit. 8. Search Reference Descriptions: If a program contains references that have the same reference description text and you attempt to search for the reference description, the first occurrence of the reference description will always be found. 9. Indirect References: When an indirect reference address is used, its reference description will not be displayed in DISPLAY ALL (EXPANDED) mode. 10. PC-Kwik(R): If you use the disk cache PC-Kwik(R), you may not be able to install Logicmaster software without using the switch /D- for the PC-Kwik device driver. The /D- switch enables the generic support of diskette transfers. 11. Multiple Attachments: It is possible for more than one computer running Logicmaster software to be connected to the same PLC. When this occurs, the serial connection or other Ethernet connection is maintained as a view-only connection (MONITOR mode). If either the %P or %L data size is changed by the parallel programmer attachment, the change will not be reflected in the secondary programmer attachments. In order for the change to be reflected, you must disconnect and then reconnect the secondary programmer attachment. 12. Write Flash Memory Operations: An error occurs sometimes when attempting to perform a Write Flash operation with a large amount of data. You will see a ten (10) second delay followed by a NO COMMUNICATIONS message at the bottom of the screen for 2 to 3 seconds. After that, communications recovers. You should perform the Verify Flash operation to make certain that the Write Flash operation completed successfully. FANUC Replacements

10 Important Product Information Corrections to the Series 90 Sequential Function Chart Programming Language User s Manual (GFK-0854) 1. Page 3-57 states that steps and transitions can be toggled and overridden. However, only transitions may be toggled and overridden. 2. The note on page 2-4 presently reads: When a step becomes active, its action logic is executed... The note should be corrected to read: When a step is deactivated, its action logic is executed...
