For more information, refer to GFK-0263, GFK-0265, GFK-0854, or the README.TXT file on the master diskette. Release 7.02 of the Logicmaster programmer and configurator software packages provides logic programming and configuration for the Series PLC. Beginning with Release 5.00, Sequential Function Chart programming capability is available by ordering the desired Logicmaster communications version and the SFC Programmer Option diskette (IC641SWP731). Release 7.02 corrects problems that existed in earlier software. These problems are listed in the Problems Resolved by Release 7.02 section. Release 7.02 allows you to configure the new CGR935 CPUs as well as several new CPX models. Release 7.02 also provides folder conversion from certain earlier models of CPUs to corresponding CPX models. For more information about the new features, refer to the New Features Introduced in Release 7.02 section. Folders created with all earlier releases of Logicmaster are upwardly compatible. Release 7.02 of Logicmaster software is compatible with Logicmaster Release 4.01 or later and and with Release 7.80 and earlier CPUs. However, some new features found in Release 7.02 of Logicmaster software require an upgrade of CPU firmware to Release 7.80 to be fully available. If a Genius Bus Controller is used with this release of Logicmaster software, the Genius Bus Controller must be Release 3.0 or later. For more information, refer to the Using Release 7.02 Software with a Release 7.80 or Earlier CPU section of this document. Special Operating System Compatibility Note: This version of Logicmaster will not install in a MS-DOS box under Windows NT or Windows 95. Refer to Logicmaster Installation on page 3 for installation instructions. Microsoft, Windows, Windows NT, and MS-DOS are registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.

2 Important Product Information Operational Notes 1. Compatibility with Earlier Releases: Folders created with all earlier releases of Logicmaster software are upwardly compatible. Folders created with Release 7.02 of Logicmaster software are compatible with Release 4.01 or later of Logicmaster software. CAUTION Once a logic program or configuration is created or modified with Release 7.02 of Logicmaster software, it cannot be used with Release 3 or earlier of Logicmaster software. Also, once a logic program or configuration is stored to a PLC using Release 7.02, the program must not be loaded by a software release earlier than Release If you attempt to use a folder created in Release 7.02 of Logicmaster software with Release 3.02 or earlier of Logicmaster software, one of these two messages will be displayed: Folder contains files which are incompatible with this release. Program file corrupted. 2. System Requirements: A. The WSI version of Logicmaster software requires a minimum of 545 K (558,080) bytes of available MS-DOS application memory in order to run. The Standard Serial COM Port version requires either a minimum of 590 K (604,160) bytes of available MS-DOS application memory, or 545 K (558,080) bytes of MS-DOS application memory plus an additional 49 kilobytes of High Memory Area (HMA), Upper Memory Blocks (UMB), or Expanded Memory (EMS) for the communications driver. For more information, refer to Chapter 7, Section 4, Standard Serial COM Port, in the Logicmaster Programming Software User s Manual, GFK For either version, a minimum 1024 kilobytes of Lotus/Intel/Microsoft Expanded Memory (LIM EMS 3.2 or higher) is required for optimum performance. If additional MS-DOS application memory is required, system software error ID: 0000 EX: 0000 will occur. Check the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files to remove any device drivers and Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) programs in order to make more application memory available. For example, Logicmaster software does not require the ANSI.SYS driver. B. The Logicmaster software will occupy approximately 4 MB of disk space. Please make sure you have adequate space on your disk before attempting to install the software. C. MS-DOS 5.0 or later. D. An or higher computer. E. For the Standard Serial COM Port version, a computer with a serial COM port serviced by the National Semiconductor UART chip is recommended.

Important Product Information 3 3. Logicmaster Installation: For additional instructions on installing Logicmaster software, refer to Chapter 2, Operation, in the Logicmaster Programming Software User s Manual, GFK Logicmaster software is licensed to run on a single computer. If this is the initial installation, you must enter the serial number found on the back of your disks. The INSTALL disks are copy-protected. Since backup copies of these disks cannot be made, they should be used to install the software and then put in a safe place. Logicmaster 90 cannot be installed in a DOS box under Windows NT or Windows 95. A message will occur such as it cannot find the master disk or the target sector was not found. You will need to install Logicmaster 90 from MS-DOS before attempting to run Logicmaster 90 in a Windows NT or Windows 95 DOS box. If you do not have MS-DOS on your computer, you can temporarily reboot from a floppy drive with an MS-DOS system disk. If you have Windows 95, you can restart your computer in MS-DOS mode (from the Shutdown selection) before installing Logicmaster After Logicmaster 90 is installed, you can run it from a DOS box under either Windows NT or Windows 95. There is a new version of Logicmaster (IC641SWP716) that was specifically designed as a DOS application that installs and works under Windows NT and Windows 95. This new version provides SNP or TCP/IP Ethernet communications to Series PLCs and uses standard TCP/IP Windows drivers to provide maximum compatibility in a network environment. As a program designed for Windows NT and Windows 95, it consumes less of the system resources, easily handling the multitasking attributes of the Windows NT or Windows 95 operating system. For more information about this new product, call GEFanuc. 4. SFC Programmer Installation: The Sequential Function Chart (SFC) Programmer diskette (IC641SWP731) updates Release 5 or later of Logicmaster software to provide SFC programming capability. Release 5 or later of Logicmaster software should be installed first. Then, install SFC from the SFC Programmer diskette by typing INSTALL. 5. Demo Version (IC641SWP703): The demo version of Logicmaster software will install into the LM90DEMO directory on the hard disk specified during the INSTALL procedure. For example, if you specify that the demo version of software be installed on the C: drive, it will be installed in the C:\LM90DEMO directory. To run the demo software, enter the following at the MS-DOS prompt: C:>CD LM90DEMO C:>LM90DEMO The demo version is fully functional. However, the program size is limited to 750 bytes for _MAIN and 750 bytes per program block. 6. Running Logicmaster Software from a Disk That Does Not Contain the Logicmaster Software: If you need to run Logicmaster software from a disk that does not contain the Logicmaster software, set up the $PLCROOT environment variable in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to point to the location of the Logicmaster software: SET $PLCROOT=(drive ID):\LM90 7. Ethernet Modules Configured with Logicmaster : The Series Ethernet module (EM7) will not work properly if configured with Logicmaster If you have configured an EM7 with Logicmaster and you subsequently load that configuration from the PLC to the programmer, it will display the message: CONFIG NOT EQUAL. You must zoom into the EM7 configuration and record each field s value, delete the EM7, then reconfigure it with Logicmaster or later, and finally store the configuration back to the PLC.

4 Important Product Information 8. Logicmaster 90 Performance: Logicmaster software requires a CONFIG.SYS file with BUFFERS set to at least 15 (BUFFERS=15). To increase performance, the buffers should be increased. If you have MS-DOS 5.0 or later and load DOS High, you should be able to set buffers up to 48. This will help the performance of program searches, program loads, program stores, and other disk operations. Beginning with Release 4 of Logicmaster software, the variable tables that were once in memory have been moved to disk. While up to 5000 nicknames are now allowed in the _MAIN variable declaration table, the performance of Logicmaster software may be affected. For best performance, Lotus/Intel/Microsoft Expanded Memory (EMM) Version 3.2 or higher of at least 1024 kilobytes and SMARTDRV should be provided. A memory manager is required for the Standard Serial COM Port version of Logicmaster software. A memory manager is provided with MS-DOS 5.0 or later for a 386 or higher computer. However, some computers or PC configurations will require a memory manager such as 386MAX, produced by Qualitas, or QEMM-386 or QRAM, produced by Quarterdeck, to provide the maximum amount of memory for Logicmaster 90 and other applications. 386MAX is a trademark of Qualitas, Inc. QEMM-386 and QRAM are trademarks of Quarterdeck Office Systems.

Important Product Information 5 The following configurations will assist you in setting up your computer system to run Logicmaster software optimally: Version of Logicmaster Software WSI Version (Standard MS-DOS 5.0) Standard Serial COM Port Version (Standard MS-DOS 5.0 or higher) Configuration CONFIG.SYS: DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS DOS=HIGH,UMB DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE 1024 RAM X=CE00-CFFF FILES=20 BUFFERS=48 CONFIG.SYS: DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS DOS=HIGH,UMB DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE 1024 RAM FILES=20 BUFFERS=48 For systems without WINDOWS 3.1: DEVICE=C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.SYS AUTOEXEC.BAT: Standard Serial COM Port Version (Standard MS-DOS 5.0 or higher + QEMM-386*) OR for systems with WINDOWS 3.1: C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV CONFIG.SYS: DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM DOS=HIGH FILES=20 BUFFERS=50 For systems without WINDOWS 3.1: DEVICE=C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.SYS AUTOEXEC.BAT: Standard Serial COM Port Version (Standard MS-DOS 5.0 or higher + 386MAX**) OR for systems with WINDOWS 3.1: C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV CONFIG.SYS: DEVICE=C:\386MAX\386MAX.SYS PRO=C:\386MAX\386MAX.PRO DOS=HIGH FILES=20 BUFFERS=48 For systems without WINDOWS 3.1: DEVICE=C:\386MAX\386LOAD PROG=C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.SYS AUTOEXEC.BAT: OR for systems with WINDOWS 3.1: C:\386MAX\386LOAD PROG=C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV * QEMM-386 version 6.0 or later. NOTE The above EMM386.EXE switch X= CE00 CFFF is used to reserve this area of memory for the Series WSI card. If the computer does not use a WSI card, the X= CE00 CFFF is not required.

6 Important Product Information 9. Using MS-DOS to Copy Folder Files: WARNING Do not use MS-DOS to copy individual files from one program folder to another or to delete files. Doing so may result in corrupted folders. MS-DOS may only be safely used to copy an entire program folder to another program folder of the same name. For most copying needs, use the Copy function within Logicmaster. 10. Serial Printing: The serial ports, COM1 and COM2, can be used for serial printers. Beginning with Release 5, the serial printer port must be configured with the MS-DOS mode command to match the printer settings. For more information, refer to Chapter 7, Section 1, Printer Serial Port Setup, in the Logicmaster Programming Software User s Manual, GFK PLC Communications Options: If more than one communications option (WSI, Standard Serial COM Port, and Ethernet) of Logicmaster software are installed on the same hard disk, you must select the version you wish to run. By default, the WSI version is run. For more information, refer to Appendix D, Programmer Environment Setup PLC Communications Options, in the Logicmaster Programming Software User s Manual, GFK Interaction of Logicmaster Software with Closed Programming Window: If you intend to change the PLC Sweep modes or timers (e.g., Constant Sweep Time, Program Window Times, etc.) while the program window is closed, use Service Request #1 #4. The PLC Sweep Control and Monitor screen from Logicmaster software cannot be used. CAUTION To change PLC modes (e.g., STOP, RUN, etc.) while the programming window is closed, use the CPU switch rather than the Logicmaster software. 13. Logicmaster Software Under Windows: Beginning with Release 4.50, the Standard Serial COM Port version of Logicmaster software can run under Windows 3.x. With Windows 3.1 or higher, Logicmaster software may be run in WINDOWED or FULL SCREEN mode. To run Logicmaster under Windows successfully, observe the following guidelines: A. At least 49 kilobytes (Release 5.02 or higher) or 64 kilobytes (Release 4.50) in Expanded Memory (EMS), an Upper Memory Block (UMB), or the High Memory Area (HMA) must be available for the serial communications driver. If EMS memory is used for Logicmaster software, you must ensure that no other device driver or TSR is also using EMS memory. B. If you are running under Windows NT 3.51, you should install Service Pack 2 or later. If you are running under Windows NT 4.0, you should install Service Pack 3 or later. The following registry entries (values not keys) should be added (unless they are already present) using Windows REGEDT32 under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Cur rentcontrolset\control\wow: (1) COM_SyncWrite : REG_SZ 1 (2) COM_TxBuffer_Size : REG_SZ 1 Setting these values will require that you have ADMINISTRATOR privileges for your computer.

Important Product Information 7 C. Release 4.50 or later of Logicmaster software may be set up to use COM1, COM2, COM3, or COM4 as the communications port for communicating with the Series PLC. D. Release 4.50 or later of Logicmaster software should be run using a PIF file. A default LM90.PIF file is provided in the C:\LM90 directory. Example screens of the default settings are shown below:

8 Important Product Information E. Do not attempt to run more than one session of Logicmaster software at the same time. Doing so may result in corrupted program folders. F. You may, however, bring up the programming and configuration software at the same time as long as one of them is offline, or as long as they both use different COM ports. Be careful not to change the CPU model configured from the configurator while you are in the program editor or reference tables in the programming software. To access the same folder from both the programming and configuration software packages, be sure that SHARE.EXE is not used in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, or you will receive the message File System Error. G. For some display adapters and drivers, you may find that Logicmaster software is not displayed in color in WINDOWED mode. However, Logicmaster software will be displayed in color in FULL SCREEN mode. You may switch between WINDOWED and FULL SCREEN mode by pressing ALT-Enter. H. The WSI version may also be run under Windows 3.x. To set up the WSI card to be able to communicate with the PLC, you must run C:\LM90\WSIWIN.EXE before invoking Windows.

Important Product Information 9 New Features Introduced in Release 7.02 There is a new CPU redundancy model, CGR935, which can be configured with either this release of Logicmaster or Release 2.1 of CIMPLICITY Control. There are also new CPX models available with this release. A CPX model is a PLC CPU with a 486 processor, some of which share the same number as previously created CPUs, for example, Model CPU772 versus CPX772. Within the Release 7.02 configurator software, there are new selections for these new CPUs; however, Logicmaster does not support all of the new features available from these new CPUs, specifically configurable bulk memory, Clock Sync, and Scan Sets. Those features are supported in CIMPLICITY Control. 1. Configuration of the New IC697CGR935 Model of the Series 90 CPU: Logicmaster 90-70, Release 7.02, supports configuration of CGR935. The CGR935 is a redundant CPU similar to the CPU780; however, it supports additional capabilities: A. It supports GDB control strategy which allows for dual Genius LANs. B. It can also be configured for standalone operation. Note Serial ports 1 and 2 are not enabled for the 7.6 Release of the CGR935. For more information about the CGR935, refer to the IPI for this CPU (GFK-1440) or to the Series Enhanced Hot Standby CPU Redundancy User s Guide (GFK-1527). 2. Configuration of New CPX Models of the Series 90 CPU: Logicmaster 90-70, Release 7.02, supports the following new models of CPUs: IC697CPX772 IC697CPX782 IC697CPX928 IC697CPX935

10 Important Product Information To configure a CPX model, select the appropriate model from the list within the Configuration software and configure the parameters as needed. 3. Configuration of Serial Ports 1 and 2 of the CPX Models: Logicmaster 90-70, Release 7.02, supports configuration of ports 1 and 2; however, you cannot load, store, or verify when using these ports (Ports 1 and 2). For Release 7.80 of the CPX models, communications through ports 1 and 2 are limited to monitoring your operations. 4. Conversion of Folders for the New CPX Models of the Series 90 CPU: If you install a CPX model and store a folder created for the CPU with a corresponding number, the conversion to a CPX folder is automatic. Under those conditions, the following automatic conversions will occur: Folders created for the CPU771 and CPU772 will convert to CPX772. Folders created for the CPU781 and CPU782 will convert to CPX782. Folders created for the CPU915 and CPU925 will convert to CPX935. Note The conversion of folders is automatic when going from a CPU to a corresponding CPX; however, once you opened a folder with a CPX, you cannot convert it back for use with the earlier CPU. For example, if you have installed a CPX772 and store a folder originally created for the CPU772, it will automatically convert to the CPX. After that, you cannot use the folder for a CPU772.

Important Product Information 11 Using Release 7.02 Software with a Release 7 or Earlier CPU Release 7.02 of Logicmaster software was designed and tested to be compatible with a Release 6 or earlier Series PLC CPU, while still providing new Logicmaster software features. However, some new features found in Release 5 of the Logicmaster software will require an upgrade of CPU firmware to be fully available. The result of using these new features with a Release CPU earlier than 5.0 will vary, depending on the feature. Using new Release 5 instructions (function blocks) in a program will result in an error being detected during a store operation of the program to a CPU earlier than Release 5. The following features and functions should be avoided if the program is used with a Release 4 or earlier CPU: 1. Standalone C Programs: Folders that contain Standalone C Programs require CPU release 6.0 or later. 2. FIP Configuration: Folders that contain FIP Configuration require CPU release 6.0 or later. 3. SFC and PSB Blocks: Programs that use SFC or PSB blocks require a Release 5.0 or later CPU. 4. New Instructions for Logicmaster Software and CPU Release 5: Using the following instructions will result in a Store aborted; Program in folder uses instructions not supported by PLC error: A. RANGE B. ARRAY_RANGE C. SFC_RESET 5. Timed Interrupts: Timed interrupts may be programmed with this release of Logicmaster software; however, they are not supported in a CPU earlier than Release 4. If a timed interrupt is placed in a program that is stored to a Series PLC, it is ignored by the PLC. Only Release 4 or later Series PLC CPUs support timed interrupts. 6. Foreign VME Configuration: Release 4 or later of Logicmaster software allows the configuration of several new foreign VME modes, including NONE, BUS INTERFACE, INTERRUPT ONLY, FULL MAIL, and REDUCED MAIL. Release 5 of Logicmaster software also supports I/O SCAN mode. The Release 5 or earlier CPU supports NONE and BUS INTERFACE modes. INTERRUPT ONLY, FULL MAIL, I/O SCAN, and REDUCED MAIL are not supported at this time. Use NONE mode for a Release 3 or earlier CPU. 7. VME Integrator Rack Configuration: A Release 4 or later CPU is required to support the VME Integrator rack. 8. Single Sweep Debug: A Release 4 or later CPU is required for the single sweep debug (ALT-G) feature. 9. CPU Configuration Parameters: The Series CPU detail screens contain some configurable parameters that are not supported by all CPU releases. These parameters are SWEEP MODE, CONSTANT SWEEP TIMER, PROGRAMMER WINDOW TIMER, SYSCOMM TIMER, and PROGRAM CHECKSUM WORDS PER SWEEP. These parameters require the use of a Release 4 or later CPU. Earlier releases of the CPU will ignore these parameters. NOTE Background timer is only supported by Release 4.50 or later CPUs. Any setting of this timer will be ignored by a CPU earlier than Release 4.50.

12 Important Product Information Problems Resolved by Release Setting PLC Time of Day Clock: From the PLC Time-of-Day Clock screen if the equal softkey is pressed during the year 2000, the year would become 88. This problem has been corrected. 2. Valid IP Address not allowed: Some valid IP addresses were not allowed such as This problem has been corrected. 3. Point Faults Enabled: When point faults are enabled, the PLC Memory Configuration screen now indicates the proper CPU Memory available. 4. Reuse of folder names as SFC step names prevented: Reusing the folder name as an SFC step name is now prevented.

Important Product Information 13 Restrictions and Significant Open Problems 1. Logicmaster 90 Install Under Windows NT: Logicmaster 90 cannot be installed in a DOS box under Windows NT or Windows 95. 2. Ethernet IP Address Checks: When configuring an Ethernet module (either IC697CMM741 or IC697CMM742), certain IP Address validity checks are not made completely. To avoid possible network problems, it is important that you correctly type the IP Address as a 4-digit dotted-decimal number (e.g., ) and avoid assigning an IP Address where the host id is either all zero bits or all one bits. For further information, see the appendix, Advanced Information About IP and MAC Addresses in your Ethernet module User Manual. 3. Librarian Export from Locked Folder: You must export a block to the librarian from an Unlocked folder. If the folder is locked, the following errors will occur, Disk Write P rotected and System Error ID: 3400 EX: Import Variable Declarations: The Variable Declarations screen that you are currently on while importing variables from a CSV file into Logicmaster 90 will not be updated. You will need to exit and reenter the screen after the import to see any changes to the table. 5. Loading Standalone C Programs to Empty or TEMP folder: If you load from a PLC that contains only Standalone C Program(s), i.e., no LD program, you will need to enter the Program Editor before you will be able to store the Standalone C Program(s) back to the PLC. 6. Standalone C Programs with Same Name as Folder: You should exercise care not to create a Standalone C program with the same name as the folder. 7. Standalone C Program Delete: When you delete a Standalone C Program from the Logicmaster Program Declarations screen, the associated folder.pdt file is not deleted. If you wish to delete the associated file, you will need to delete it using Windows or DOS. 8. SFC Step Action Labels: You should exercise care not to use to consecutive labels without intervening rung(s) at the end of a step s action logic. 9. Logicmaster Install Using MS-DOS 6.0 or Later: MS-DOS 6.0 or later supports multiple configurations in the same file. However, during an Logicmaster installation, changes in the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files are only made to the first sections for files, buffers, and the Logicmaster path. 10. FOR Loop Restriction: Data flow between instructions in a FOR loop must be 16 bytes or less. If you wish to move more than 16 bytes of data between instructions, you should move the output data of an instruction into reference(s) and use the same reference(s) as input to the next instruction.

14 Important Product Information 11. SFC and PSB Side Files: If you attempt to include side files with SFC and/or PSB logic into a folder using a release of Logicmaster software earlier than Release 5.00, a system error will occur. 12. %S Bits and PSB Parameter Restrictions: %S references as bit parameters of a PSB call are only allowed if the bit length is Invalid SFC Element: An SFC step name can only be used in Relay Ladder Diagram (RLD) logic to access the step timer, step fault bits, or step flags. A transition name can only be used to access or set the transition variable. If you attempt to use the step or transition other than as described here, the message Invalid SFC Element will occur. 14. Incorrect Fault Sense: If the minimum or maximum step times are changed while the SFC graph is evolving, an incorrect fault sense (+ or ) may be reported. 15. Force Overridden Bit: If you attempt to force an overridden bit by entering a 0 or 1 from the command line in the reference tables, the bit will not be changed. You must use the toggle key (keypad or F12 key) to toggle the bit. 16. Search Reference Descriptions: If a program contains references that have the same reference description text and you attempt to search for the reference description, the first occurrence of the reference description will always be found. 17. Indirect References: When an indirect reference address is used, its reference description will not be displayed in DISPLAY ALL (EXPANDED) mode. 18. PC-Kwik: If you use the disk cache PC-Kwik, you may not be able to install Logicmaster software without using the switch /D- for the PC-Kwik device driver. The /D- switch enables the generic support of diskette transfers. 19. Multiple Attachments: It is possible for more than one computer running Logicmaster software to be connected to the same PLC. When this occurs, the serial connection or other Ethernet connection is maintained as a view-only connection (MONITOR mode). If either the %P or %L data size is changed by the parallel programmer attachment, the change will not be communicated to the secondary programmer attachments. In order for the change to be reflected, you must disconnect and then reconnect the secondary programmer attachment. GE Fanuc Automation North America, Inc., Charlottesville, Virginia
