19 Data ONTAP Release Notes 19 Data ONTAP Release Notes The Data ONTAP release contains online migration support on vfiler units, additional IPv6 support, and other new features and enhancements. About the Data ONTAP release Data ONTAP is a release in the Data ONTAP 7.3 release family. For more information about Data ONTAP releases, see the "Data ONTAP Release Model" on the NOW site. Attention: Upgrading to Data ONTAP 7.3 or later from an earlier release will cause existing FlexVol volumes to require more free space from their containing aggregate. You should therefore ensure that all systems upgrading to Data ONTAP 7.3 have sufficient free space in their aggregates before upgrading. For more information, see If you are upgrading to Data ONTAP 7.3 or later on page 108. Beginning with Data ONTAP 7.3, DS14 disk shelves (sometimes referred to as DS14mk1), LRC storage I/O modules, and ESH storage I/O modules are no longer supported. If even one of these devices is attached to your storage system, you should not upgrade to Data ONTAP 7.3 or later. For more information, see Systems including DS14 shelves, ESH modules or LRC modules are not supported on page 38. About these release notes All the information in this document applies to the Data ONTAP release for NetApp storage systems (FAS systems, NearStore systems, and V-Series systems), unless noted. FAS systems and NearStore systems are sometimes called filers or appliances. Some of the information in this document applies to SA systems. Note: There are no longer separate release notes for V-Series systems. These release notes are available in.html and.pdf formats. They are optimized for.html viewing and linking.
