7 General Polycom Unifie Communications (UC) software is a general release for all open SIP platforms or for Microsoft Lync Server. Polycom UC software offers support for the following phone platforms: VVX 500 business meia phone VVX 600 business meia phone Note: Registering with Lync Server If you are using Polycom UC software with Microsoft Lync Server, you can register one line. You cannot use UC software to register multiple lines on a phone with Lync Server. These release notes provie important information on software upates, phone features an feature licenses, an known issues. In aition, these release notes refer to a number of previous UC software versions to assist aministrators who are upating to a UC software release from an earlier software release. 8 Polycom UC Software Release Notes Important Upgrae Notes an Consierations in UC Software This section contains important notes on Polycom harware an UC software 3.x.x. Upgraing / Downgraing from UC software 3.x.x As of UC software 4.x.x, Polycom has change the process of upgraing an owngraing software on the phones. To upgrae to UC software 4.1.x, you will first nee to install the new Upgraer application. Once you have installe the Upgraer, you can install UC software 4.1.x. To owngrae from UC software 4.1.x, you will first nee to install a new application calle the Downgraer. Once you have installe the Downgraer, you can install an earlier UC software version. Note: Unerstaning UC Software Versions To unerstan which version of UC software can be use with Polycom phones, an for access to major supporting ocumentation for each UC software version, use the SIP/UC Software Downloas Matrix. Unerstaning Phone Features an Licenses The phone features an licenses require to operate a feature vary by phone moel. Use this section to fin out which phone features an licenses you require for your phone moel. Note: Use of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 requires purchase of a Lync Feature License You must purchase a Lync Feature License from a Polycom reseller or sales representative for each Polycom SounPoint IP, SounStation IP, an VVX moel you want to eploy with Microsoft Lync Server Polycom recommens that you keep a recor of your licenses, as Polycom reserves the right to auit your eployment to verify license use. Also note that you can use UC software 4.1.X with Polycom phones for trial purposes, without purchasing a license, for a maximum of 30 ays. The following tables list features available for each phone moel an inicate whether or not a feature license is require. 2

For general use, Polycom recommens using the split resource file that correspons to the phone moel(s) for your eployment. Use Table 2: Unerstaning the Split ZIP Resource Files to match the correct UC software resource file to your phone moel. If you are provisioning your phones centrally using configuration files, ownloa the corresponing resource file an extract the configuration files to the provisioning server, maintaining the foler hierarchy in the ZIP file.
