3 Part 1 - Minimum Hardware Requirements CPU to meet the minimum requirements of the operating system being used 2 GB RAM minimum, 3 GB recommended 15 GB in the hard disk USB port Part 2 - Minimum Software Requirements One of the following Windows versions: Windows Vista (Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate) Windows 7 (Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate) Windows Server 2008 Windows 8 One of the following web browsers: Internet Explorer 9 or higher Latest Firefox Latest Chrome Microsoft.NET Framework 4.x Adobe Acrobat Reader Zip extraction utility Java JDK 7.0 Update 45 * JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6.4 * MySQL * Apache JMeter 2.12 * Apache httpd Web Server + mod_cluster plugin * * - indicates software provided as part of the courseware. 4 Part 3 - Software Provided You will receive the following file: WA2486.ZIP All other software listed under Minimum Software Requirements is either commercially licensed software that you must provide or software that is freely available off the Internet. Part 4 - Important Ghosting or Imaging Information Some of the software installed for this course will not function after changing the computer hostname. As such, cloning or imaging should not be used on a fully installed system. You can save time by extracting the contents of the USB memory stick to C:\ on a clean OS install (no other software installed) and then imaging that hard drive. After restoring the image to the other computers and changing the hostnames, you can then install the software on each computer individually by following the instructions that are detailed later in this document. Part 5 - Instructions 1. Login as a user with local administrative rights. 2. Make sure that students will have local administrative rights as they will be installing software as part of the labs for the class. If their login IDs don't have administrative rights, create a local user that does have local administrative rights and provide the instructor and students with information regarding this user. 3. Extract the.zip file to C:\ 4. Review that the following folders were created: C:\LabFiles C:\Software\apache-jmeter-2.12 C:\Software\Downloads\Java C:\Software\Downloads\JBoss C:\Software\mod_cluster C:\Software\NetFramework Copyright Web Age Solutions Inc. 4

5 5. Review that the following files were created: C:\Software\mysql-installer-community msi 6. Make sure C:\LabFiles and C:\Software are NOT read-only. Part 6 - Privileges to Users 1. Create the user that the students will use during the class. 2. Give the student user account administrative rights. During the labs the student requires this to install software. 3. Open Windows Explorer. 4. Right click C:\Software and select Properties. 5. Click the Security tab. 6. Click Advanced. 7. Click Change Permissions. Copyright Web Age Solutions Inc. 5

6 8. Select the Authenticated Users entry and click Edit Note. If you don't have a domain in your environment the select Users instead Authenticated Users. 9. Check the Allow checkbox to the right of Full Control and click OK. Copyright Web Age Solutions Inc. 6

7 10. Select the checkbox for Replace all child permissions with inheritable permissions from this objects and then click OK. 11. A Windows Security dialog will open. Click Yes. 12. Wait until Windows finishes updating security. 13. Back in the Advanced Security Settings dialog, click OK. 14. Back in the Properties dialog, click OK. 15. Do the same steps to the C:\LabFiles folder. 16. Create a folder called C:\Workspace if its not already created. 17. Do the same steps to the C:\Workspace folder. Copyright Web Age Solutions Inc. 7

8 Part 7 - Installing MySQL MySQL requires.net Framework 4 or higher. We have downloaded for you the setup files for Windows 32 and 64 bits under C:\Software\NetFramework. Run the default setup using the corresponding file. For Windows 32 bits: dotnetfx40_full_x86.exe For Windows 64 bits: dotnetfx40_full_x86_ia64.exe NOTE: Make sure this is installed first. If files are not provided in the mentioned folder then download the.net Framework setup from the following location: 2. From C:\Software, launch mysql-installer-community msi 3. If asked whether or not you want to run the file, select the option that will allow the file to run. 4. If asked whether or not you want to allow the program to install software on this computer, select the option that will allow the software to install. 5. A message indicating that Windows is configuring the MySQL Installer Community will appear. 6. After the MySQL Installer Community finishes installing it may start automatically. If it does not, click on the Start Menu and select MySQL MySQL Installer Community MySQL Installer Community. If you need to run the installer manually, you may also need to click an 'Add' button to add a new installation. 7. If asked whether or not you want to allow the program to install software on this computer, select the option that will allow the software to install. The MySQL Installer window will open. 9 8. Accept the license and click the Next button. 9. For 'Setup Type' choose 'Custom' and click the Next button. 10. Expand MySQL Servers MySQL Server MySQL Server 5.6 in the Available Products list and select MySQL Server X86. Make sure to select the correct one. Even if you are running on 64 bits select the 32 bits. 11. Click the green right arrow button to move the product to the Product/Features To Be Installed list. 12. Expand MySQL Servers Connector/J Connector/J 5.1 in the Available Products list and select Connector/J X Click the green right arrow button to move the product to the Product/Features To Be Installed list. 10 14. Click Next. 15. Verify that MySQL Server and Connector/J are listed in the Installation screen and click Execute to install them. The installation progress will be displayed for each product. After each product is finished being installed, the Status for that product will change to Complete. 16. After both products show a Complete status, click Next. 17. In the Product Configuration screen, click Next to configure MySQL Server. Copyright Web Age Solutions Inc. 10

11 18. In the Type and Networking screen, leave the default options and click Next. 19. In the Accounts and Roles screen, enter root123 for the password. Ignore the Password Strength: Weak message. Click Next. Copyright Web Age Solutions Inc. 11

12 20. In the Windows Service screen, leave the default options and click Next. 21. In the Apply Server Configuration screen, click Execute. 22. Verify that you see the message Configuration for MySQL Server has succeeded. Click Finish. Copyright Web Age Solutions Inc. 12

13 23. Back in the Product Configuration screen, it should say Configuration Complete. Click Next. 24. In the Installation Complete screen, click Finish. 25. Close the MySQL Installer window if it is open. MySQL and Connector/J have been installed. Part 8 - Summary You have successfully installed the software for this course!
