7 KARL STORZ VOICE1 Speech Control with Outstanding Recognition VOICE1 speech control offers an elegant variant for controlling the OR via SCB and makes it possible for the user to control devices entirely by their voice. The speech control recognizes commands spoken by the user and sends corresponding commands to the SCB system. Thus it is possible to adjust device parameters normally done by the circulat ing nurse or the assistant from within the sterile area using a sequence of simple acoustic commands. The inclusion of voice-activated technology to control the operating environment has the potential to improve efficiency and increase productivity and satisfaction of operating room personnel. Simple command menu trees and small number of defined commands support fast learning and getting comfortable with the usage of voice control even for inexperienced users. VOICE1 assists learners at the beginning, but does not constrain the experts. Therefore the system provides two different visualization possibilities (user interface or video overlay) and audio feedbacks (signal beep or speech). Connected Speech makes the application more efficient, faster, more ergonomic and user-friendly. Commands can be given in predefined sentences without break.
