1 1.1 Introduction Purpose This document briefs you the step by step approach to download OBIA setup files, Installation of Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Prerequisites The Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Installer only runs on Windows. However, many Oracle BI Applications components can also be deployed on Linux and UNIX platforms by manually copying folders and files from the Windows install machine to a Linux or UNIX machine. Since the target machine is Oracle Linux 5.8, we need to install Oracle BI Application first on Windows and then manually copy the required folders and files from the Windows Machine ( ) to Linux Machine ( ). The Prerequisites for the Oracle BI Applications Installation is as follows: 1. Windows Machine This is the machine that has installed Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, on which you run the Oracle BI Applications installer to install the Oracle BI Applications files. Note: The Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Installer requires Oracle Business Intelligence 11g or greater to be Installed. The instance of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition does not need to be the functional version of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition that you will use to deploy dashboards in your live system. This instance is only required to enable the Oracle BI Applications installer to install the Oracle BI Applications files onto a machine. The functional version of BI EE can be on any supported OS for BI EE (that is, it is not limited to Windows). However, a Windows machine is required to edit BI metadata using Oracle BI Administration Tool. 2. Linux Machine This is the Machine where the Functional version of OBIEE is installed with the latest patchset. Note: After OBIEE installation with latest patchset, the folder biapps which is found in ORACLE_HOME/Oracle_BI1 is copied to the same location on the Linux Machine.

3 2 OBI IEE INSTALLATION 2.1. Windows Installation Download the Software The Oracle BI Applications Software can also be downloaded from the Oracle E-Delivery website below: Login with the Oracle Support ID and Password. Then, Select Oracle Business Intelligence from the Product pack and select the Platform as Microsoft Windows 32 Bit. Then, clickk on Continue.

4 Then, download the following Software shown in the Screenshot below: Installation of OBIEE on Windows A. RCU Installation The RCU Schemas can be installed on the Oracle Database (BIDBPRD on ) from any Windows Client Machine. The RCU Zip file V zip that is downloaded on the Windows Machine ( ) is extracted to a folder. Navigate to the path rcuhome/bin and run the batchfile below:

5 The Repository Creation Utility window opens, Click Next

6 On the Create Repository Page Select Create and Click Next

7 On the Database Connection Details page, enter the Database Hostname, Port, Service Name, Username and Password and click Next. The Password for SYS is Click Ok. On the Select Components page Select Oracle Business Intelligence.

8 Select the Prefix as DEVWIN. This is the prefix used for RCU installation for OBIEE 11g on Windows. Click OK and on the Schema Passwords Screen. Select the option Use same passwords for all schemas. Enter a new password in Password and Confirm Password.

9 Click Next to go to Map Tablespaces Page

10 Click Next. Click OK Again click Ok.

11 Now, a Summary page is seen and then click on Create. On the Completion Summary page, you will be able to see the Database details on which the RCU Schemas are create. Click Close to close the window B. OBIEE Installation on Windows IP: Hostname: biprdapp.demo.com Unzip the OBIEE Installation files. The following files needs to be unzipped: Unzip all the files and it will create a folder called bishiphome.

12 Open the bishiphome folder and go to Disk1. Then run the setup file. This will open the OBIEEE 11g Setup.

13 Click Next. Select Skip Software Updates and click Next again.

14 Select Enterprise Install. Click Next.

15 Once the Prerequisite check is finished, click Next.

16 Give the details as follows: Username: weblogic User Password: admin123 Confirm Password: Then Click Next.

17 Select the Oracle Middleware Home Location. Createe a folder OBIEE11g in C:\ and select that folder. Then Click Next. Deselect the option Real-Time Decisions and click Next

18 On the BIPLATFORM Schema screen, enter the Connect String which connects to the BIPLATFORM Schema that is created using RCU and click Next Connect String: biprddb.demo.com:1521:bidbprd BIPLATFORM Schema Username: DEVWIN_BIPLATFORM BIPLATFORM Schema Password: admin123

19 The Next Screen shows the MDS Schema details which are automatically populated. Click Next. On the Configure Ports window, select Auto Portt Configuration and click Next

20 2.1.2.C. Updating the OBIEE ( ) on Windows to latest Patchset Oracle recommends updating OBIEE release to the latest Patchh set. The OBIEE release is NOT recommended for customers too go-live on. If a customer is currently on , then apply the necessaryy patches via opatch to get them to Customers can consider PSE1 that is available for go-live, but the better option is to patch to For information on required and Recommended Patches to be applied on OBIEEE Server, pleasee refer to the Oracle Support Document below: OBIEE 11g ( ): Required and Recommended Patches and Patch Sets [ID ] The BI Apps installer requires the OBIEE or higher. We are installing the which is the latest patchset for this OBIEE installation on Windows. Back up the Oracle BI System, including the following: The ORACLE_HOME\bifoundation\server directory. On URC Windows Server ( ), it is C:\OBIEE11g\OracleBI1\bifoundation The ORACLE_INSTANCE\bifoundation\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication_obis1\repository On URC Windows Server ( ), it is C:\OBIEE11g\OracleBI1\ bifoundation\oraclebiservercomponent\coreapplication_obis1\repository The ORACLE_BI_HOME\bifoundation\jee\mapviewer.ear\web.war\WEB_INF\conf\mapViewerConfig.x ml, if you have modified it. On URC Windows Server ( ), it is C:\OBIEE11g\OracleBI1\ bifoundation\jee\mapviewer.ear\web.war\web_inf\conf\mapviewerconfig.xml 2. Download the following Oracle BI patch zip files from My Oracle Support into the Oracle BI Home directory: Download the following JDeveloper patch zip file from My Oracle Support:

22 Stop the BI System (in the order shown): a) BI system components: On URC Windows Server ( ), navigate to C:\OBIEE11g\instances\instance1\bin and enter the following at the command prompt: opmnctl stopall b) WebLogic Managed Server(s): On URC Windows Server ( ), navigate to C:\OBIEE11g\ user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\bin and enter the following at the command prompt: stopmanagedweblogic.cmd bi_server1 c) WebLogic Administration Server: On URC Windows Server ( ), navigate to C:\OBIEE11g\ user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\bin and enter the following at the command prompt: stopweblogic.cmd -stop 5. Clear the files that are associated with the Oracle BI EE Catalog Manager binary cache as follows: a. On URC Windows Server ( ), navigate to C:\OBIEE11g\ OracleBI1\bifoundation\web\catalogmanager\configuration\directory (using a file manager application or the command line). For example: b. Remove the following Catalog Manager cache directories (if they exist): o org.eclipse.osgi o org.eclipse.equinox.app 6. In the Oracle BI Home directory, unzip each of the Oracle BI patch zip files into a subdirectory below the Oracle BI Home directory. For example: On URC Windows Server ( ): You might extract patch into C:\OBIEE11g\Oracle_BI1\ _Patches\1_ At the command prompt, change directory to the Oracle BI Home directory using the command appropriate for the operating system. For example:

23 On CUSTOMER Windows Server ( ): If the Oracle BI Home directory is C:\prod_mwhome\Oracle_BI1, then enter the following: cd C:\OBIEE11g\Oracle_BI1 8. At the command prompt, set the ORACLE_HOME, PATH, and JAVA_HOME environment variables as appropriate for the operating system. On Windows: If the Oracle BI Home directory is C:\OBIEE11g\Oracle_BI1, then set the environment variables by entering the following: set ORACLE_HOME= C:\OBIEE11g\Oracle_BI1 set PATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\bin;%PATH% set JAVA_HOME=%ORACLE_HOME%\jdk set PATH=%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%PATH% set PATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\OPatch;%PATH% 9. At the command prompt, for each of the extracted Oracle BI patch directories (starting with 1 of 7, then 2 of 7, and so on): a. Change directory to the extracted patch directory. If you extracted patch into C:\OBIEE11g\Oracle_BI1\ _Patches\1_ cd C:\OBIEE11g\Oracle_BI1\ _Patches\1_ b. Apply the patch using the command: opatch apply c. When the message "Opatch Succeeded" is displayed, repeat the previous steps for the next patch directory until all the patches have been applied. 10. Verify that the Oracle BI patches have been applied successfully as follows: a. At the command prompt, change directory to the Oracle BI Home. b. Run the following command to list the patches that have been applied to the Oracle home that is specified by the ORACLE_HOME environment variable (currently the Oracle BI Home): opatch lsinventory c. Confirm that all the Oracle BI patches shown in Section 1 appear in the list of applied patches (along with any other patches that have previously been applied to the BI System). 11. Copy the BIPublisherDesktop32.exe and BIPublisherDesktop64.exe files from the C:\OBIEE11g\Oracle_BI1\clients\bipublisher\repository\Tools directory to the C:\OBIEE11g\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\config\bipublisher\repository\Tools directory.

Copy the msmdacc64.dll file from the C:\OBIEE11g\Oracle_BI1\clients\bipublisher\repository\Admin\DataSource directory to the C:\OBIEE11g\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\config\bipublisher\repository\Admin\DataSour ce directory. 13. Remove the jsp_servlet subdirectory associated with Oracle BI Publisher (if it exists), as follows: a. Go to the directory containing the jsp_servlet subdirectory (using a file manager application or the command line). If it exists, the jsp_servlet subdirectory is located in one of the directories below the <Middleware Home>/<Domain Home>/servers/bi_server1/tmp/_WL_user/bipublisher_ directory. For example: o On Windows: If the Middleware Home directory is C:\OBIEE11g and the Domain Home directory is \user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain, then go to the following directory: C:\OBIEE11g\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domainservers\bi_server1\tmp\_WL_user\bipublisher_ b. Look in each directory below <Middleware home>/<domain home>/servers/bi_server1/tmp/_wl_user/bipublisher_11.1.1, and remove any jsp_servlet subdirectory that you find. 14. If you backed up mapviewerconfig.xml because it had been modified, then copy the backed-up file to its original location at C:\OBIEE11g\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\jee\mapviewer.ear\web.war\WEB_INF\conf\ 15. You can now apply the JDeveloper patch (that you previously downloaded), by following the instructions in the JDeveloper patch Readme file. Note the following: As described in the JDeveloper patch Readme file, you apply the JDeveloper patch to the Oracle Common Home directory. Therefore, be sure to follow the instructions in the Readme file to change the ORACLE_HOME environment variable to the <Middleware Home>/<Oracle Common> directory before applying the JDeveloper patch. 16. Start the Weblogic Administration Server and the Managed Server (s) by performing the following actions: startweblogic.cmd -start 1. On Windows, navigate to C:\OBIEE11g\user_projects\domains\<domain_name>\bin and enter the following at the command prompt: 1. Starting Managed Server (s): On Windows, navigate to C:\OBIEE11g\user_projects\domains\<domain_name>\bin and enter the following at the command prompt: startmanagedweblogic.cmd bi_server1

25 17. OPMN Services./opmnctl startall On Windows, navigate to C:\OBIEE11g\instances\<instance>\bin and enter the following at the command prompt: opmnctl startall 18. Having installed the Oracle BI patches, you must also update the Oracle Business Intelligence Client Tools (Oracle Business Intelligence Administration Tool, Oracle Business Intelligence Job Manager, and Oracle Business Intelligence Catalog Manager) Installation of OBIEE 11g ( ) on Linux Download the Repository Creation Utility (RCU ) and OBIEE ( ) software from the Oracle Software Downloads Website.

26 Copy the Downloaded Software to the Linux Machine on which we want to installl the OBIEE Software. Copy the OBIEE Software to Linux Serverr with IP: Copy the RCU to the Linux Server with IP: using Software like WinSCP A. RCU Installation The RCU Schemas can be installed on the Oracle Database (INDACC on ) from any Windows Client Machine. The RCU Zip file V zip that is downloaded on the Windows Machine ( ) is extracted to a folder. Navigate to the path rcuhome/bin and run the batchfile below:

OBIEE ( ) Installation Login to the OBIEE Server IP: Hostname: biprddb.demo.com Unzip the OBIEE Installation files under the path /d02/oracle/softwares/obiee_ _linux64. The following files needs to be unzipped: bi_linux_x86_111160_64_disk1_1of2.zip bi_linux_x86_111160_64_disk2_2of2.zip bi_linux_x86_111160_64_disk1_2of2.zip bi_linux_x86_111160_64_disk2_1of2.zip

31 bi_linux_x86_111160_64_disk3.zip Unzip all the files and it will create a folder called bishiphome. Now, create a user with name applobi using the command below: /usr/sbin/useradd -g dba applobi Enter the following command to set the password of the applobi user: # passwd applobi The password is applobi. Now, login as applobi user: Navigate to the path /d02/oracle/softwares/obiee_ _linux64/bishiphome/disk1 Now, run the following command to run the OBIEE 11g installer

32 Press y to continue. Then the OBIEE installation welcome screen appears. Click Next to continue Select Skip Software updates option and click on Next

33 Select Enterprise Install and click Next Make sure that all the Prerequisite checks are passed

34 Select Create New BI System and give the username and Password. Default Username is Weblogic. Password is. Click Next

35 Specify the Oracle Middleware Home Location as /d02/oracle/o OBIEE11g. Once the Oracle Middleware Home location is entered the Oracle Home Directory, Weblogic Server Directory, Domain Home Location, Oracle Instance Location are automatically Set. Click Next. Deselect the option Real-Time Decisions and click Next

36 On the BIPLATFORM Schema screen, enter the Connect String which connectss to the BIPLATFORM Schema that is created using RCU and click Next Connect String: biprddb.demo.com:1521:bidbprd BIPLATFORM Schema Username: OBIADEV_BIPLATFORM BIPLATFORM Schema Password: The Next Screen shows the MDS Schema details which are automatically populated. Click Next.

37 On the Configure Ports window, select Auto Port Configuration and click Next On the Next screen, uncheck the option I wish to receive security updates via Oracle Support and click Next

38 Then, a Dialog box appears. Click on Yes. Then, the Summary Window appears. You can Save the details by clicking on Save. Then click Install button to start the Installation of OBIEE

39 The Installation Progress window appears.

41 Once the installation progresses to 100% %, the Configuration Progress Window appears. Once the Configuration Process succeeds, please click on Next button.

42 Once the installation is done, Click on Finish to complete the installation After the installation of OBIEE , the following components are available: 1. Weblogic Console 2. Weblogic Enterprise Manager 3. Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Login Link /analytics/

Copy the msmdacc64.dll file from the /d02/oracle/obiee11g/oracle_bi1/clients/bipublisher/repository/admin/datasource directory to the /d02/oracle/obiee11g/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/config/bipublisher/repository/admin/ DataSource directory. 13. Remove the jsp_servlet subdirectory associated with Oracle BI Publisher (if it exists), as follows: For example: 1. Go to the directory containing the jsp_servlet subdirectory (using a file manager application or the command line). If it exists, the jsp_servlet subdirectory is located in one of the directories below the <Middleware Home>/<Domain Home>/servers/bi_server1/tmp/_WL_user/bipublisher_ directory.

47 o On Linux: If the Middleware Home directory is /d02/oracle/obiee11g and the Domain Home directory is \user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain, then go to the following directory: /d02/oracle/obiee11g/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domainservers/bi_server1/tmp/_wl_ user/bipublisher_ Look in each directory below <Middleware home>/<domain home>/servers/bi_server1/tmp/_wl_user/bipublisher_11.1.1, and remove any jsp_servlet subdirectory that you find. 14. If you backed up mapviewerconfig.xml because it had been modified, then copy the backed-up file to its original location at /d02/oracle/obiee11g/oracle_bi1/bifoundation/jee/mapviewer.ear/web.war/web_inf/conf 15. You can now apply the JDeveloper patch (that you previously downloaded), by following the instructions in the JDeveloper patch Readme file. Note the following: As described in the JDeveloper patch Readme file, you apply the JDeveloper patch to the Oracle Common Home directory. Therefore, be sure to follow the instructions in the Readme file to change the ORACLE_HOME environment variable to the <Middleware Home>/<Oracle Common> directory before applying the JDeveloper patch. 16. Start the Weblogic Administration Server and the Managed Server (s) by performing the following actions:./startweblogic.sh 1. Having installed the Oracle BI patches, you must also update the Oracle Business Intelligence Client Tools (Oracle Business Intelligence Administration Tool, Oracle Business Intelligence Job Manager, and Oracle Business Intelligence Catalog Manager)

For example, C:\OBIEE11G\Oracle_BI1. 5. At the 'Enter the BI Instance Location' field, specify the Oracle BI EE instance home location (or ORACLE_INST TANCE) on the local drive. For example, C:\OBIEE11G\ \instances\instance1. 6. At the 'Enter the Domain Home Location' field, specify thee BI domain home location (or DOMAIN_HOM ME) on the local drive.
