Introducing VisionHub Mobile Viewer 2 Introducing VisionHub Mobile Viewer VisionHub Mobile Viewer is a part of VisionHub Control Room application suite which presents a flexible and easy to use solution for remote access (outside the company intranet) to protected video streams received from the input channels connected to Recorders in the VisionHub system. With VisionHub Mobile Viewer, users can play the available video in real-time or view the pre-recorded video tracks. For better usability, the application enables different video layouts: single, quad and fullscreen views. PTZ preset option is also supported and allows controlling PTZ cameras when viewing live video. The VisionHub Mobile Viewer application includes two parts: VisionHub Mobile Viewer Workstation Client. Allows users to access and play back video on various workstations by using standard internet browsers and players. VisionHub Mobile Viewer ipad Client. Allows users to access and play back video on ipad devices using the ipad s built-in browser. VisionHub Mobile Viewer Mobile Client. Allows users to access and play back video on various mobile devices by using mobile devices built-in browsers and players. Information that addresses functionality and explains how to work with the VisionHub Mobile Viewer Workstation Client or Mobile Client is given in the VisionHub Mobile Viewer User Guide. 2.1 System Architecture VisionHub Mobile Viewer is a client-server solution composed of three main components: Media Web Application. The core system module which identifies the clients devices and platforms, provides a secured access to the available video data based on user permissions, invokes a build-in player of the device to play back video properly in real-time. Media Streamer. Handles the user s requests for video playback and sends them to one of the available Transcoder components (see below). Media Transcoder. Handles and fetches the requests from the relevant Recorder, transcodes video according to the request and sends it back to the Media Streamer component. VisionHub Mobile Viewer is distributed as a Turnkey solution or as a Software Kit. For a Software Kit, a single installation package is delivered to install the application and all required components on all host machines. On the client side, no software installation is required. The only tool the end-users need is a built-in player or browser from the list of supported platforms (see the Supported Devices and Platforms section for more details). A graphical representation of system architecture and relationships between system components is shown in Figure 2-1. Page 6 of 36

VisionHub Licensing 4 VisionHub Licensing The VisionHub system is license-protected. You need to purchase proper licenses for servers and for concurrent connections. See the Qognify Price List for details. Once licenses are purchased and delivered, read carefully and carry out the procedures explained in the Licensing Quick Start Guide. Licenses must be activated before you start work with Mobile Viewer, otherwise an error message is displayed. Page 28 of 36
Installing User Certificates 5 Installing User Certificates A certificate is a mechanism used to verify an identity on a computer and/or over a computer network. Certificates can identify different types of entities, such as, persons, hosts and services. Many restricted-access computer services are configured to identify potential users via certificates, and allow or deny access according to the certificate contents. The Video Application Server is configured for anonymous authentication with limited security. The Mobile Viewer and Web API communicate using an authenticated end-point, SSL transport security with certificate authentication. The Mobile Viewer and Web API each install a self-signed temporary certificate. For greater security you can optionally install user certificates using the Certificate Standalone Utility provided. Refer to the VisionHub Security Configuration Guide to learn how to use the utility. The guide can be downloaded from the Partner Portal. Page 29 of 36
Multi-Site Architecture and Configuration 6 Multi-Site Architecture and Configuration Mobile Viewer client, streamer and transcoder can be installed in both sites, central and remote. Remote transcoder(s) can be managed either by remote Application Server or by the central. Figure 6-1: Mobile Viewer Multi-site Architecture Upon first time login, a login page opens which lets the administrator define the Video System Access Service IP address and port. Video System Access Service is the VisionHub Web Server IP address (see Figure 3-13: First Time Login). If you enter the remote site web server IP, then you will see only the devices that are physically connected to the remote site and will be able to add your Streamer and Transcoder Servers to this site. If you enter the central site web server IP, then you will see all devices installed in all sites. In this case, you will be able to decide where to add your Streamer and Transcoder Servers : either to the remote or central site. Note that even if the device is physically connected to the remote site, it can still be logically added to the central site. Then in the centre you watch video from the remote site. Once logged in, you are prompted to save the Streamer and Transcoder Servers IP addresses. You should add all installed Transcoder Servers (see Figure 3-15: Server Settings Page). Configure Server Settings as follows: Web Server Local IP Address: Used when the network has a DMZ configuration to define the address of the web server in the internal network. Streaming Server Address (outer): If there are streaming servers installed over the public internet then define the outer address. Page 30 of 36
Multi-Site Architecture and Configuration Streaming Server Address (WAN): If the streaming servers are installed on an intranet define this IP. If all servers are in the same LAN then the outer address and the WAN address are the same. Streaming Server IP Address (LAN): This IP is used by the streamer server to communicate with the Transcoders. Configure Transcoder Settings are as follows: Figure 6-2: Transcoder Settings Page 1. In the Transcoder Settings page, for Video Application Server, specify the User Name and Password and then test the connection to the Video Application Server, by clicking Verify. TIP: The default user name and password is admin. If entering another user name, enter the user name who has privileges to setup Mobile Viewer. IMPORTANT: If there are several transcoders in the list, decide to what Video Application Server you need to add each transcoder and configure transcoder(s) per site. 2. To add a transcoder to a Video Application Server, specify the Transcoder IP Address (and port), and click Add. The transcoder IP address and port is added to the pane on the right. 3. Click Save.
