Mac OS 10.7 Lion. Mac OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. PC: Windows Vista. Windows 7. Windows 8 (Classical view only). For HD video, the following is recommended: HD camera. HD resolution support in display. Pentium Quad Core or equivalent. 2 GB RAM. Aastra USA 13

UPGRADE INFORMATION Clearspan Communicator Release is compatible with Release configuration files. However, to use new features such as security indicators, Call Pull, Call Park and Retrieve, Collaborate Sharing Server (USSshare), and Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP), additional configuration parameters are required. For more information on the configuration additions, see the Clearspan Communicator for Desktop Configuration Guide. NOTE: Moving back from the Release ( and ) to 10.0.x-series client results in losing contact groups, favorites, and contact details. Details can be retrieved for contacts by accessing the contact information; however, groups and favorites cannot be restored. There is no work-around for this. Before upgrading to Release make sure that you have unchecked the Sign in automatically option on all installed 10.0.x client versions of Clearspan Communicator to avoid clients logging in automatically. This prevents any accidental contact list corruption from occurring. When upgrading from the Clearspan Communicator 9.x versions or release versions before Release , upgrade all instances of Clearspan Communicator clients on all computers to Release Alternating between older 9.x versions and pre-release versions can have unexpected effects such as loss of contacts or subscriptions. This also applies to using 9.x versions on a different computer from where Release is already installed. Data files for pre-releases must be removed prior to upgrading the client. If you have never run a pre-release, you can disregard these steps. On Windows: Check the Delete Profiles check box when uninstalling or upgrading. Note that you lose chat history after performing this step. On OS X: Press CMD-SHIFT-G and enter ~/Library/Application Support/BroadSoft. If you used a Clearspan Communicator client prior to October 15, 2012, you should move the Clearspan Communicator somewhere else, for example, to your desktop. If you have UC-One installed, move it somewhere else, for example, to your desktop. If you want to preserve your chat history, then rename the UC One directory to UCOne. Aastra USA 14

KNOWN LIMITATIONS AND ISSUES This is the generally available version of the Clearspan Communicator Desktop. While thorough testing has been completed both in-house and through field trials with customers, there are still some known issues that are not considered to be gating to the GA status. This section describes the known limitations and issues that affect the Clearspan Communicator Desktop. Whenever possible, suggested work-arounds are provided. INSTALLATION AND START-UP Please note that Clearspan Communciator Desktop (for the PC platform) is only supported on the following operating systems: Windows Vista Windows 7 Windows 8 (Classical view only) Support for the Clearspan Communicator on the Windows XP operating system was removed due to the endof-support notification issued by Microsoft for Windows XP SP3. End-of-support for the Windows XP platform was documented in the Mitel Product Notification P-14-08, a copy of which can be obtained through your Mitel sales or Customer Operations Manager. BRANDING In this release, the Clearspan Communicator desktop is branded as Aastra Clearspan Communicator. CONFIGURATION If used with a configuration file from Release 9.0, then the Xtended Services Interface features do not work. The solution is to update the configuration file according to the instructions in the Clearspan Communicator for Desktop Configuration Guide. If used with a configuration file from Release 9.2, then some codecs are not available. In addition, codec order priorities and dynamic payload identifiers for certain codecs are not configurable. The solution is to update the configuration file according to the instructions in the Clearspan Communicator for Desktop Configuration Guide. Aastra USA 15

If used with any configuration file from Release or earlier, then the new features introduced in Releases 10.0.x, 10.1.x, and are disabled. LOCALIZATION There are no known limitations or issues that affect the localizations. CONNECTIVITY In some networks, Network Address Translation (NAT) devices, firewalls, home routers, and so on, have interfered with the SIP registration, and therefore, a successfully completed client login process. The workaround is to check the NAT or firewall settings and verify whether they allow SIP traffic. The client automatically notices whether the network interface it uses becomes disconnected. The client also tries to reconnect using another network interface, if available. Depending on the operating system, there is a delay of up to one minute to detect the lost connection. If a client exits while establishing a connection to a SIP proxy that is responding slowly or not responding at all, the client process is only terminated once the connection establishment has timed out (EV ). If Use System Proxy is selected in Clearspan Communicator while under the Windows Proxy settings and the manual proxy hostname is set but the check box is unmarked, Clearspan Communicator might still use Proxy. The work-around is to clear the proxy hostname or select a different Proxy setting in Clearspan Communicator. NOTE: The default proxy setting has changed from Use System Proxy to No Proxy in Release (as well as in and ). This only affects fresh installations. When upgrading the client, the value previously set is still used. AUDIO CALLS Some imac users have had the experience that even though the Mute button is activated, the call is actually not muted. There is no work-around. For OS X, if a user has configured the client to use a Universal Serial Bus (USB) audio device and the user unplugs that device, then the client does not automatically detect that the device was removed. Consequently, playing audio (ring signal, call audio, or notifications for incoming messages) fails until the audio device has been reconfigured in the Preferences. Aastra USA 16

If call participants talk simultaneously, the current media framework decreases the volume of one peer so that one talker can be heard more clearly. There is no work-around. Disabling Automatic Gain Control (AGC) also affects echo cancellation. To re-enable AGC, check the use Automatic Gain Control under Preferences Audio. Intermittently audio calls may remain in a hold state without the possibility to unhold the call. This is tracked as a Clearspan Release 20.0 problem (EV ). CALL LOGS/COMMUNICATION HISTORY The call log content in the History view is only refreshed once a view is accessed. CHAT The Chat area is invisible on certain Windows setups when using the client over a remote desktop. The chat history for a group session is not accessible after a user has left the chat session (BTUC-3824). COMMUNICATION WINDOWS In rare cases, inviting participants to My Room does not work properly. Participants can still join the room by right-clicking the host and then selecting Join Room. The combo box used to choose an optional phone number for a selected contact when transferring a call or adding a participant to a communication session does not support keyboard navigation. The Communication window uses OpenGL. On some workstations, OpenGL does not function optimally and some rendering issues occur. HP ProBook 6450b and 6560b have been identified as models that experience this issue. There is no work-around; however, hardware drive updates from the hardware vendor may solve the problem in the future. CONFERENCE CALLS When conducting a conference call, participants are added directly to the conference call without the initiator having the option to check whether the call has been forwarded to voice mail (for example). Aastra USA 17

Video Conferencing (N-Way) is disabled on the OS X client version. It is encouraged to disable video conferencing through the Device Management configuration file to align behavior between Windows and OS X client versions (BTUC-4815). MULTIPLE DEVICES Running several instances of Clearspan Communicator Desktop with the same account clients simultaneously is not supported. This is due to Clearspan defining one line port for each device type. In cases such as this, calls are routed to the last device that performed or refreshed SIP registration (and making calls may fail for the same reason). OUTLOOK AND LDAP Outlook Integration is supported only on Windows. On rare occasions, Outlook may become unresponsive if started while Clearspan Communicator is running. The work-around is to restart both applications. If the Outlook plug-in is installed and used with Outlook, then the option of not starting Clearspan Communicator when Windows starts up may not be followed. PRESENCE If presence authorizations are set using third-party Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) applications while the Clearspan Communicator is not connected, presence can be unidirectional. In these cases, Clearspan Communicator users may not see the presence status correctly. The work-around is to unsubscribe and then subscribe operations under Options to trigger an authorization query again. Once the peer has accepted the buddy request, the presence once again has two directions. In future versions of Clearspan Communicator, the unidirectional presence subscriptions will be revisited. Location data is only visible for users using Clearspan Communicator Release and above. Manually set location and time zone data are only visible to users running Release and above. Location data is acquired based on the public IP address. This may lead to incorrect location data being published. There is no work-around for this. Aastra USA 18

Local time zone is similarly acquired from the network and this does not always recognize daylight savings time. Thus, the local time may be one hour off. If your PC has the correct local time, then select the Computer time option from the drop-down menu. SCREEN SHARE Starting Desktop Share requires two steps. To initialize the session, press the Share button and then to start sharing, press the Play button. On some Windows Vista machines, the client is not able to connect to the Web Collaboration server. The workaround is to install the Windows update package to update the CA root certificates: Screen sharing on OS X does not work if proxies that require authentication are used for HTTPS connections (WEBC-500). The Clearspan Communicator sharing functionality is not compatible with sharing in older client versions. To share your desktop with a client of Release or earlier, paste the link of the Desktop Share session into the Chat window. With this link, participants can join the Desktop Share using the full Web Collaboration client (web or download). This client version can join Desktop Shares started by Release clients. Clearspan Communicator supports the Collaborate Sharing Server (USS) share library. If this library is used according to the configuration required, the old share library is disabled. Collaborate Sharing Server share and traditional screen share are not compatible with each other. There is no work-around. SERVICE MANAGEMENT To limit the amount of Xtended Services Interface traffic to the server, the Call Settings window is only refreshed once a window is opened. Two Clearspan bugs prevent fluent operations of the Remote Office part of the Call Settings toolbar: EV and EV Aastra USA 19

VIDEO CALLS Intermittent interoperability issues have occurred with AastraConnect hosted video servers. The problem results in slow or failed video connections. Select lower video resolution from Preferences Video. If a video call is started with part of the video window outside of the screen, the outside area is sometimes black. There is no work-around. The incoming video stream sometimes freezes with certain Video Conference services. There is no workaround. The video call to group does not work. The call is downgraded to an audio call. Video calls can fail on some Dell laptops that have higher resolutions. The problem relates to the camera drivers. There is no work-around; however, using lower resolutions allows users to make video calls. The resolution is changed through Preferences Video Video Size. Video calls can be dropped if the Preferences window is accessed during a video call. There is no work-around. Using high resolutions (HD or large) on older Apple Mac small computers may trigger flickering in the video area. Resuming a held video call with Polycom VVX sometimes takes dozens of seconds when SRTP is used. Holding a video call does not always work correctly. This is tracked as a Clearspan Release 20.0 problem (EV ). REMOVED FEATURES Some features that were present in earlier client releases are no longer available in Clearspan Communicator Release These features are: Remote control for Xtended Services Interface (Xsi) calls (mid-call controls) History Filter by Type Video Swap (swapping between own and remote video screen during video calls) Attended Call Transfer Create and Access Independent Chat Rooms Aastra USA 20

OTHER On some PCs with lower-capability video cards, certain components of the user interface appear blurry. There is no work-around. If an Xtended Services Interface password is changed while Clearspan Communicator is logged in, the user account can become locked since the client continues to make HTTP requests with the old authentication credentials. Periodically, there can be a crash if a user repeatedly logs in and out rapidly. If a PC has nview desktop options enabled (on machines with an nvidia graphics card), window transparency is toggled when moving windows. Sometimes windows do not regain full alpha until you explicitly refocus the application. This is more of an issue with nview rather than the Clearspan Communicator client. The workaround is to disable the nview option from the display settings. If communication is started with an Outlook plug-in, the Clearspan Communicator Communication window is not opened as the topmost window. This is due to a Windows feature that does not allow any other application to acquire the window focus when a user has some applications focused. Therefore, actions invoked through the Clearspan Communicator application programming interface (API) (by, for instance, the Outlook plug-in to initiate a call) cannot raise or focus Clearspan Communicator windows. There is no workaround. Aastra USA 21
