KNOWN LIMITATIONS AND ISSUES This is the generally available version of the Clearspan Communicator Mobile for Android smartphones. While thorough testing has been completed both in-house and through trials with customers, there are still some known issues that are not considered gating to the GA status of the product. This section captures the known limitations and issues that affect the service related to the client software. Whenever possible, suggested workarounds are provided. INSTALLATION AND START-UP It is strongly recommended to uninstall previous development versions of the client before installing the release client from Google Play (former Android Market). NOTE: Clearspan Communicator uses OpenSSL for SRTP (audio and video calls). This version of OpenSSL is NOT affected by the Heartbleed vulnerability (source: CONFIGURATION For more information, see the Clearspan Communicator for Android and ios Configuration Guide. CONTACTS Due to the new features in Release 20.1.x, a change to the Contact List data structure was implemented. After the user is upgraded to the Release 20.1.x version of Clearspan Communicator, they can no longer make changes to the contact list when using an earlier 20.0.x or 10.x client release. Users are able to log in, chat, and make calls but are to edit or add new contacts until they upgrade that device to a Release 20.1.x version of the Clearspan Communicator client. CONNECTIVITY The following are known limitations for connectivity: PRESENCE SIP failover support includes a DNS SRV query and failover or failback for REGISTER and INVITE messages. Proxy-discovery is not implemented on mobile. The following is a known limitation for chat: In case the user goes offline with Airplane mode or loses connectivity for another reason, they will still be presented with their last known status over the next 24 hours or until the next login (whatever comes first). The workaround is to sign out from the Clearspan Communicator client before changing to Airplane mode. CHAT The following are known limitations for chat: Client could shows duplicated messages after a failover (server-side issue). Cannot add and communicate with account from different domains GTalk and MLync (server-side issue). 12 Mitel
MULTIPLE DEVICES None. CALL LOGS/HISTORY None. SERVICE MANAGEMENT None. SEARCH None. AUDIO CALLS The following are known limitations for audio calls: Poor audio on some devices when using G.722. This is relevant to the HTC Desire S device (specific chipset). Possible low audio quality on some Motorola devices. Adaptive Multi-Rate Narrowband (AMR-NB) and Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband (AMR-WB) and G722.1 audio codecs are disabled in the reference client. When the user holds and resumes a call, the first transfer of the call is not transferred. On some HTC devices, the user is not able to place a second call. Cannot make a direct call transfer or hold when B-party has SRTP in mandatory mode (serverside). Clipping audio on Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini device. Dialing My Room via Call Back and Call Through requires the user to manually input the conference ID. Audio stream is missing on Sony Xperia V. In-call volume levels on some HTC devices could be incorrect. VIDEO CALLS The following are known limitations for video calls: Video calls against Polycom devices can experience short image freezes. Missing video on some Polycom devices. This can be avoided by setting use- sip-info to true in the configuration file. Video calls against third-party video phones (such as, Cisco Tandberg E20 and Grandstream) can fail depending on the configuration. By default, video calls are only enabled on devices that have been verified. For the full device list, see the Clearspan Communicator for Desktop, Mobile, and ios Tablet Product Guide (Desktop-Release , Mobile-Release Tablet-Release ). 13 Mitel
On some devices, there is a problem with the outgoing calls if the proxy port used is The user cannot initiate an audio or video call. The workaround is to modify the configuration file to use only part of the audio and video codecs. Quad-core devices and Motorola Atrix cannot deposit a video voice message. There is a possible aspect ratio discrepancy on some devices. The UI responds slowly during a video call. Depending on network conditions, the returned video stream from Echo service could be broken. Depending on the device, the end user could experience problems with viewing/recording video voice mail. CALL RECORDING The following is a known limitation for call recording: OTHER Call recording On Demand feature is not available within the first 5 seconds of the call. The following are additional known limitations: For Call Back and Call-Through mode, the account requires Clearspan Anywhere, or Remote Office to be enabled. If the client is configured to reject a call with 603 Decline instead of 486 Busy Here, Call Forwarding Busy and Call Forwarding No Answer may not work as expected. The voice mail account must be enabled and the voice mail server must be specified in the configuration to use the voice mail features. On some devices with hardware Menu key, the menu items cannot be branded and use the color scheme defined by the system. Xtended Services Interface (Xsi) failover requires Android 4.0.x and above. When mandatory SRTP is used for a call and the other party has Music On Hold configured, the call drops after putting it on hold. Call transfer with SRTP in mandatory mode is affected due to server limitations. When SRTP on the client is in Preferred mode, then the Music On Hold must be disabled for the conference initiator to have a conference. In addition, it is possible for the third person to receive notification to upgrade the call to Video. This is a server-side issue, which is currently in progress. The Mobile client provides a feature for intercepting calls started with the native dialer and prompting to complete the call with Clearspan Communicator. This feature is enabled by the manufacturer and it is not available on all Android phones. For example, it is not available on HTC phones. Automatic proxy discovery is not supported. On devices with button Menu running Android 4.x, for example, the Samsung Galaxy series, the highlight color may not be applied. User password is stored on the device using device-unique pre-defined encryption keys in order to support auto-login. In some environments, UC-One could crash when a CS call is rejected. 14 Mitel
On some devices with Android 4.x, receiving a big packet can cause communication interruption if the used proxy port is To avoid this, only audio calls can be initiated or received with such a device. Currently, the issue is confirmed on the following devices: o Samsung Galaxy S2 with (fixed in 4.1) o Sony Xperia S with o Motorola Razr with o Sony Xperia Z with 4.1 o Sony brand with Android 4.x o LG Nexus 4 o Samsung Galaxy S4 NOTE: It is strongly advised for the SIP port to be different from 5060 (for example, 5075) due to known issues with using the standard SIP port (5060) with mobile devices. 15 Mitel
PRODUCT AVAILABILITY The Clearspan Communicator Mobile for Android smartphones can be downloaded from the Google Play store in February To obtain additional information about the Clearspan Communicator products, or to receive any additional documentation that might be required, please contact your Mitel representative. 16 Mitel
