1 March Networks Transportation Maintenance Release Command and Visual Intelligence SP1 March 2018 Introduction March Networks Command provides a single interface for managing your video surveillance infrastructure. As the industry s most comprehensive, end-to-end video surveillance solution, it allows you to discover, monitor, manage, and configure your video surveillance assets more quickly and easily than ever before. March Networks Command Transportation augments the power of Command Enterprise with features and functionality that overcomes the issues specific to a wireless transit environment. These release notes provide the version information, system requirements, and known issues in Command Transportation 2.3.2, and Visual Intelligence Transportation SP1 related to a transit deployment and cover the following products: Command Enterprise Command Transportation Command Media Archiver Administrator Console DVR Configuration Tool Command Enterprise March Networks Command Enterprise is a fully distributed solution, designed for large multi-site recorder installations. Command Enterprise offers seamless support with March Networks recorders for both wayside and transit applications. 3 Command Transportation Command Transportation is a service designed to augment Command Enterprise and enable the management of video, audio, and metadata from vehicle installed transit recorders. Additional features within Command Enterprise have also been enhanced to better manage a transit environment with regards to recorder status, configuration, and firmware updates. Command Media Archiver Command Media Archiver serves as a proxy for the transit recorders that are not always available on the network. It allows an investigator to make requests for incident media (video, audio, GPS metadata) when the recorder is not currently connected to the network. The Command Enterprise Server monitors the network for the presence of the recorders for which media has been requested and instructs the Media Archiver to download the specific media to a holding area. The media in the holding area is then available for viewing and playback using the standard Command applications, with all of the tools available for managing media from a connected recorder. From the perspective of the investigator, the recorder appears in the Media Archiver just as it would if the recorder were permanently connected to the network, and the downloaded media can be accessed at any time, even when the vehicle is no longer in the proximity of the wireless network. Note: The holding area of the Media Archiver is a temporary repository that keeps the media for a configurable period of time (default is 120 days). It is recommended that the media held by the Media Archiver is exported to case files prior to its expiry date, at which time it is removed to provide space for newer media. Administrator Console The Administrator Console is the application used to provision and configure the RideSafe GT, MT, and RT Series NVR. Using the Administration Console, the administrator of the surveillance network is able to configure camera frame rates and quality, alarm inputs and switch outputs, and optimize the network settings for most effective use. DVR Configuration Tool The DVR Configuration Tool is a legacy application that is required to maintain backward compatibility with the 5000 Series DVR. The DVR Configuration Tool enables the administrator of the surveillance network to provision and configure these recorders. 3

On the DVD main menu, click Documentation, navigate to the last page of the menu, and click Version Information to open the text file. 4

5 Recommended System Requirements Server Applications Operating system (OS) Processor (CPU) HDD space Storage Network interface Memory Command Media Archiver Windows Server 2008 R2 Windows Server 2012 Dual Core Intel i5 25 GB (minimum) In addition to the storage used by the OS, you will require internal or external storage (DAS, NAS, SAN) with the space and bandwidth capacity suitable for the application that is recording video. The network connection to external storage (NAS, SAN) must provide the peak bandwidth required by the application. Gigabit Ethernet 8 GB Please refer to the System Requirements section of the March Networks Command Version 2.3 Release Notes for more details on Command Enterprise. Contact your March Networks Sales Engineer for specific project sizing. The recommended system requirements are estimated for a typical usage, under the assumption that the cameras are configured to consume 2-4 Mb/s of bandwidth each. The HDD space listed below is the amount of free space required before install. After install, remember that if the remaining free space is exhausted by other applications, or by the operating system, your system may become unreliable. The memory requirements listed below reflect the amount of free memory recommended to run the individual application, not the total amount of memory for the system. If you run multiple applications, ensure that each application has the recommended amount of free memory for that application. Client Applications An internet connection is required to view the GPS maps. Please refer to the System Requirements section of the March Networks Command Version 2.3 Release Notes for more details on Command Client. 5

6 Resolved Issues The following issues have been resolved in this release. Issue ID Description Affects Registration robustness when recorder is out of sync with CES. Video gaps on Media Archiver corrected. CES Media Archiver Video now exports correctly from Media Archiver to Client workstation. Media Archiver Consistent and even gaps in video corrected. R5 DVR Caddy fan alerts reported to CES correctly. R5 DVR Solid-state drive now correctly detected by the recorder. Limit on recorder resources when multiple instances of the log file script are running simultaneously. R5 DVR R5 DVR Known Issues and Limitations The following issues have been detected, but not resolved in this release. Issue ID Description The CES limits user accounts to 10 concurrent sessions. Transit recorders are using the same account to register. When more than 10 recorders are trying to register simultaneously, all 10 allowed instances of the account are exhausted, locking out operators. Workaround: The number of allowed instances has been increased to 50 to circumvent short term issues. Affects R5 DVR 6
