5 Contents of the Starter kit Contents of the Starter kit The starter kit is a comprehensive set of software configuration objects and samples of consolidated data shipped in an archive file. It can be downloaded from SAP Service Marketplace at after navigating to the section Download Software / Support Packages and Patches / By Category / Analytics Solutions / SAP FINANCIAL CONSOLIDATION / SAP FINANCIAL CONS / SBOP FIN.CONS.10.1 SK IFRS / #OS independent. From SAP Financial Consolidation 10.0 SP07, the starter kit is also embedded with the Financial Consolidation setup. Once Financial Consolidation has been successfully installed, the starter kit archive file can be found in a dedicated ifrssk subfolder of the installation folder. During the extraction of this archive file, new subfolders are created in the destination folder: The FILES subfolder contains all software-generated files. These files are needed to restore the starter kit with SAP Financial Consolidation transfer features. The XLFS subfolder contains an Excel workbook which provides all financial statements leveraging the SAP Financial Consolidation Excel add-in. The DOC subfolder contains documentation about the Starter kit and notably the Release Note which explains all changes which were made from the previous version. Recent documentation related to the starter kit is also available on SAP Service Marketplace. It can be downloaded from after navigating to the section Products / Product documentation / SAP Financial Consolidation / 10.1 SP07 /Starter Kit for IFRS This documentation notably consists of: An installation procedure explaining how to install the starter kit. A simplified description of the software configuration which gives a brief overview of all categories of objects included in the starter kit. A full description of the design principles which were taken into account to fulfill the consolidation business requirements. An operating guide which specifies how to complete a consolidation cycle using the starter kit. 5

6 Preparing to install the Starter kit Preparing to install the Starter kit Software prerequisites SAP Financial Consolidation The starter kit requires SAP Financial Consolidation 10.1 SP07 or any higher version to be restored and operated. Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle Databases The starter kit can be installed on any Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle database supported by SAP Financial Consolidation Please refer to the Financial Consolidation Master Guide to get the list of supported database servers. Microsoft Office The starter kit is shipped with an Excel workbook providing all financial statements leveraging the SAP Financial Consolidation Excel add-in. This workbook uses the latest specific Microsoft Excel 2007 features in terms of themes for cell formats and conditional formatting. Therefore, even though not mandatory, it is strongly recommended to install Microsoft Office 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016 on client computers to use these Excel reports. Please refer to the Master Guide for information of which versions of Microsoft Office are supported by Financial Consolidation. Starter kit prerequisites Configuring the database First time installation When installing the starter kit for the first time, it is mandatory to create a dedicated empty database where to complete all restoration steps. To do so, please complete the following steps. 1. Create an empty database with appropriate settings for your RDBMS system. 2. In the SAP Financial Consolidation Administration Console, create a data source which refers to this database. 3. Migrate the data source so that the initial database schema is created to be able to run Financial Consolidation. Upgrade Only an existing database which already contains a previous version of the starter kit can be upgraded to a newer version. This allows maintaining a reference database which is always up-to-date with regards to the changes which are made to the content in order to keep being compliant with the regulation. It is not possible to upgrade a database which was initialized with a previous version of the starter kit and in which changes were made to the software configuration in order to serve particular business requirements which are not implemented in the starter kit.

7 Preparing to install the Starter kit Site and language management Please be aware that it is useless to change the configuration file defaultlanguages.xml in order to specify that the database should be a TOP or CHILD database or to modify the default list of working languages. In order to be consistent with the release approach and the languages which are supported in the starter kit, the installation process forces the database to be a TOP database, with a site named 0000.TOP, and the list of languages is always EN (language 1), DE (language 2), FR (language 3), SP (language 4), JA (language 5). This is applicable both for a first time installation and an upgrade. Granting access to one application server machine It is recommended to have access to at least one folder on the machine which runs the application server of SAP Financial Consolidation. Hence, the starter kit archive file can be extracted directly to this folder on the machine and thus makes it easier to configure transfer features used during the restoration process. 7

8 Installing the Starter kit From the Financial Consolidation 10.0 SP07, the starter kit archive file is embedded with the Financial Consolidation setup and a new feature is available in the Administration console which allows installing the starter kit automatically in a dedicated data source. This feature dramatically simplifies the installation process and becomes therefore the most recommended way to restore the starter kit. Detailed explanations about how to proceed are provided in the first part of this section. However, the previous manual procedure can still be completed and is also explained as a reminder in the second part of this section. Installing the starter kit automatically Running the setup from the Administration console 1. Connect to the Administration Console Web site deployed during the installation of the software. For example 2. Then, in the Data source options menu, choose the Install software configuration for IFRS. Please note that the data source must be empty and have been previously initialized using the Migrate data source command. 3. Confirm that the installation of the starter kit should be completed in the currently selected data source.

9 4. The data source icon changes to SK, indicating that the installation process has started. Depending on the machine overall performance, the setup may require some minutes to complete. 5. When the installation has been successfully completed, a notification message is sent indicating which version of the starter kit has been restored. Click the Close button. 9

10 Checking the installation Before running any operation on the newly installed data source, it is recommended to perform some simple controls to verify that all starter kit software configuration objects and data samples were correctly restored. 1. In the Data source options menu, choose the Start data source command. 2. Connect to SAP Financial Consolidation.

11 3. In the Administration domain, click on the Log view. Verify that the status of all Receive objects tasks is correct. 4. Click the About Financial Consolidation command in the Help menu. The Configuration details should indicate the starter kit name and version. 11

12 Installing the starter kit manually Starting the data source in exclusive mode 1. Connect to the Administration Console Web site deployed during the installation of the software. For example 2. Click on the data source where the starter kit will be restored, then expand the node and select the Operation item. In the Data source options menu, choose the Stop data source command if the Data source is already running. Wait until the data source icon turns red, indicating that it has been stopped successfully. 3. Then, in the Data source options menu, choose the Start data source in exclusive mode command. Wait until the data source icon turns green, indicating that it has been started.

13 Configuring Transfer Features 1. Extract the content of the starter kit archive file to a folder located on one machine running the SAP Financial Consolidation application server. For example C:\Starter kit. 2. Connect to SAP Financial Consolidation. 3. In the Tools menu, choose the General Options command. When the General Options dialog box appears, select the Transfer tab. 13

14 4. Unselect the option Automatic transfer to publication site. Then, select Network in the list of Transfer vectors and click Configure. When the Properties dialog box appears, specify the full path of the FILES subfolder which was created during the extraction of the starter kit archive file and then click Ok. 5. Click Ok in the General options dialog box to close it.

15 Executing transfer tasks 1. Select the Task List view in the Administration domain. In the File menu, choose the New Scan objects command. 2. The task editor window appears. In the General tab, give the new task a name. For example SCAN. Though optional, it is recommended to assign the task with both a short and a long description. 15

16 3. In the Task tab, click the Active option to indicate that the task is ready to be processed. Then save the task using the Save command in the File menu or the disk button in the toolbar. Finally, close the task editor window. 4. Right click the task Scan objects which was just created and choose the Start command in the shortcut menu to execute it.

17 On successful completion of the Scan objects task, new tasks of type Receive objects are created. These tasks contain the actual software configuration and samples of consolidated data. They all need to be executed to restore the entire starter kit. 5. For better control of the restoration process, it is highly recommended to display long descriptions. Right click any task and choose the Columns command in the shortcut menu. 17

18 6. In the List properties dialog box, select the View tab and expand the General node in the Available columns pane. Then select the Long description item and click the button with the right arrow to add this item to the Visible columns pane. 7. Once long descriptions are displayed, the restoration process can start. The first task to execute must be the one whose name is Rxxxxxxx.0001 and long description is Software Configuration. This task contains the software configuration. Right click on it and choose the Start command in the shortcut menu.

19 8. On successful completion of the Receive objects task containing the software configuration, all other tasks whose long descriptions are Reference data set or Sample data set n x and which contain sample datasets, can be executed in any order. Right click on each of them and choose the Start command in the shortcut menu. 9. Exit SAP Financial Consolidation and connect to the Administration Console Web site. Stop the starter kit data source. This ends the exclusive mode session which prevented multiple users from connecting to the data source during the installation. 19

20 10. In the Data source options menu, choose the Start data source command. This is the standard mode which allows multiple users to connect to the data source. 11. Once the data source is started, close the Web browser to quit the Administration console web site.

21 Configuring the Starter kit Configuring the Starter kit Unlocking starter kit Preconfigured Objects Once the installation process is completed, all starter kit preconfigured objects are locked and cannot be changed. This is because the starter kit was created on the 0000.SK site which is consequently the owner site of all these objects. Therefore, the current site 0000.TOP has no ownership of them. If, for any reason, it is required to make changes to the starter kit, the current site 0000.TOP needs to take ownership of all preconfigured objects beforehand. This operation requires running a SQL query against the database where the starter kit has been restored. 1. Connect to the Administration Console Web site. 2. Stop the data source if it is already running. Please refer to previous sections of this document for further details on how to stop a data source. 3. Run the query below UPDATE ct_config SET name = '0-99' WHERE id = 6 UPDATE ct_site SET aux_signatures = '0-99' WHERE signature = (SELECT name FROM ct_config WHERE id = 1) This query sets the value of the Local site auxiliary signatures property to This gives the current site ownership of all objects created by sites whose profiles are in the range between 0 and Restart the data source. Please refer to previous sections of this document for further details on how to start a data source. Locking the starter kit profile range In SAP Financial Consolidation 10.1, the range of site profiles between 0 and 99 is exclusively reserved to the implementation of starter kits. Therefore, it is no longer allowed to create any site whose profile would fall into this range. With respect to this, the starter kit has been created using a site named 0000.SK whose profile is 0 and it is restored using a site named 0000.TOP whose profile is 100. The database in which the starter kit is being installed is automatically assigned with this site during the restoration process. To make sure that no site profile is created in the range from 0 to 99, a SQL query must be run against the database where the starter kit has been restored. 1. Connect to the Administration Console Web site. 2. Stop the data source if it is already running. Please refer to previous sections of this document for further details on how to stop a data source. 3. Run the query below UPDATE ct_config SET name = '0-99' WHERE id = 7 This query sets the value of the Local site locked signatures property to This prevents the current site from creating new site profiles in the specified range. 4.
